I have only ever heard/used guys (plural) as a gender neutral term. It's like gendered pronouns in spanish except their doesn't have to be at least one male to use it. It's just a group of people. It's only blatantly gendered when you stress it to be so like with "Guys and Gals."
@@leahtheanimationfan40 I totally get that! I basically had Zelph and the Mormon Stories podcast on 24/7 for about a year after I left. I was just so pissed off and I just really had to process the things I'd believed my whole life. I think the thing is that when we were in, the church was our whole world, and for a while, after we leave, I think our subconscious still believes that, so it's easy to give the church all of our time. Also, rewiring and healing take work. There's no way to go but through, but on the other side (at least for me) there really is a world that isn't defined by Mormonism and it's wonderful! Now I go entire weeks without thinking about it until Shit like this happens and then I just get to feel grateful to be out. You'll get there!. The future is bright.
@@ky4864 I've really been enjoying my time just being free and truly happy and having a "Second Saturday" (what my boyfriend and I sometimes refer to when we're talking about Sunday). I have family and friends who've left and family and friends who are true to the faith. Deconstructing my entire belief system has been quite the process but it's getting better
I had him as a religion professor at BYU and I remember liking him, but definitely questioned what he said….so much so that I took my next religion class by a non member because I wanted History not Sunday school lol
Brad’s Apology: "I’m sorry the general public caught me spewing a hateful shitty message the LDS absolutely approves of." Or: "The LDS church told me I have to say sorry."
Although it’s racist, “Why did the whites have to wait until 1829?” Is a question they should be asking because it makes no sense why god would ever have the priesthood not be on the earth if it’s such an important thing. How does he think that statement was supposed to be faith affirming.
i love your guys’ channel. the editing, the jokes, the conversation, everything. you guys host so well together and i stop whatever i’m doing to watch new uploads. y’all were a big part of my transition out of mormonism, helping me laugh at its absurdities. thank you guys so much
I don't know if they are atheist or just spiritual, but I would love to hear them guest co-host with the God Awful Movie podcast guys on a Mormon Movie one time.
this man is really out here saying "won't somebody, PLEASE think of the whites?!" wtaf?!?? my brain just came back with error 404. i can't....there is no emoji for what i'm feeling. smh
Guys is (can be) a gender neutral term, the only reason why it might not be is because people associate it just towards a direction. Actor is another example...
I hope to hear from one of “the youth” in the audience via anonymous Reddit or something similar. Did they talk with their parents about the talk afterwards? Their friends? This was a great video you guys! 😆
@@Tartarsauce84 So they just tuned Brad out? Interesting! No reply-shocking. You (probably) won’t get a reply unless you & many others keep asking & ask loud enough for it to be heard outside of the church. Thanks for the “inside info” 👍🏽
This video was AMAZING! Y'all have been absolutely nailing it recently. Your content has always been good, but I feel like this editing has ushered in a Golden age for your channel. I also really loved your sweater, Sam. And Tanners gameshow jacket.

I have never been Mormon but I find him extremely annoying! For some reason I have gotten sucked into ex Mormon RUclips and TickTock for years now. Why am I like this?
You aren't alone. I'm nevermo, but I spent my childhood in an extremely religious community and was repeatedly approached by Mormons to convert. There are plenty of Mormons that I love, but this channel helps me understand the doctrine of "The Church" and how it manipulates members for its own gain. I hope voices like Zelph will herald in a more progressive brand of Mormonism that makes positive spaces for the people the church seeks to marginalize.

Thank you for covering this! I loved what you added to the conversation. The game show was the best part. Tanner’s costume change was amazing, and your edits are very entertaining. Thanks for bringing some much-needed humor to a heavy topic!
6:43 - Mormon morality: “youths” smoking cigarettes and wearing leather jackets is worse than 50 year old men being sexual predators and ordering multiple contracts killings of their enemies (in addition to being pro-slavery). Sounds like a great system of morality to me!
Don’t forget the coffee drinking! God knows how bad it is for you (even though energy drinks are TOTALLY cool, go ahead and drink those until you are so buzzed on caffeine you feel like you’re gonna faint 😄)
Thank you both for this episode! Felt good to laugh and get some perspective on this mess. THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE made me cackle, Sam.
The editing and banter of this video are truly top tier. I'm also deeply obsessed with surprise game show and must request that it makes a comeback in future videos lmao
It’s funny how nearly every mainstream religion says that people leaving their religion in droves is a sign of the second coming of Christ, and yet it turns out people are just leaving because they realize it’s bullshit. It’s almost like being incredibly vague convinces brainwashed people that their church is true. The LDS church is losing membership more and more every year, but ask any Mormon and they say it’ll be a “sign of the second coming” 🙄
Damn you've made a great effort into editing this time ! I also like your chill-out content but this has been very entertaining and fun. Congrats!! And the quizz was a great addition to the subject. Also your shorts are great too!!
Firstly this is a delightful trip through an especially horrifying Mormon Joe Rogan fever dream. Secondly, I’m alarmed to say that this has unlocked the memory that the ~learning about sex & puberty~ book in my house growing up was literally penned by Jowly Brad. 🤢
I watched the whole thing on Mormon Stories Podcast. Brad was arrogant and condescending on top of being racist. He's not the only one in the church to take this approach. People like him were one of many reasons I left when I was 17. Hearing his rhetoric brought up a lot of irritating memories.
I really liked this episode! Thanks for sharing! It really validated my feelings. His talk was non stop cringe. The fact that the church has given this guy real leadership and a microphone to spew that shit from is horrifying.
You guys are so genuine I’m glad you guys don’t pressure yourselves to make videos or super long videos about things you don’t need to waste your time being angry about, you just make stuff you wanna talk about and that’s super refreshing.
Keep in mind that Brigham Young was close friends with Abraham O. Smoot - yes the same Kos after whom the administration building is named and who owned slaves and who believed in slavery. He was very instrumental in the priesthood ban.
Did y’all see what brads wife wrote to Gerardo from MSP on Facebook??? She said he would have been the one who struck the nails on Christs feet…lmao they are so delusional
I haven’t heard the John Bytheway in forever. Totally forgot about that guy. He talked at one of my youth stake conferences. Don’t remember about what lol
I’m amazed at how many people when they were TBMs liked Brad Wilcox. I remember when I use to work for Seagull Book and Tape in the 90s how they were pushing his ‘Sex is like an Apple’ talk. Don’t know if you’ve ever heard it, but even then I found it pretty offensive. As to Jon Bytheway… fun fact… he married a girl I went to school with who he met when she was underage at EFY. They’re all such great people to look up to… 🤮.
Isn't it interesting that was/is a widely held belief that black people were created as an "inferior race" as a punishment for Cain's sin, and yet it's written in the articles of faith that humankind are not responsible for Adam's transgression? What's the difference?
English is tough because "guys" is literally listed as the third person plural along with "y'all". We don't have a term like "ustedes" in Spanish because.... English. Edit: K video over. And.... Wow. To use a term floating around the Internet today, Brad Wilcox is just so... relentlessly stupid.
I think he's complicated just like everyone else. When I was in the church, his "His Grace is Sufficient" talk was deeply important to me and helped me through a lot of pain and shame (granted I wouldn't have had the shame if I wasn't born into the church to begin with, but I digress). I also met him a couple of times and he seemed genuinely big-hearted to me. But I think he's clearly extremely unaware of his privilege and that he's clearly manipulative, though he wouldn't see it that way. For better or for worse he's indoctrinated and I think he really believes what he teaches, toxic as it is.
At BYU-I right now. My roommates said that the prophets said that watching anti-church stuff was worse than porn. I would love it if you could review that. I think you would have a blast.
I remember when I had a wife once, I made some joke about putting her on Time-Out, to which she protested my existence for a week with cold shoulder avoidance!
The question we should be asking is, “Was Brad loud enough and crude enough? Are we sure all people in the back could hear him?” Answer: A GA never apologizes, especially for things they’ve said at the pulpit, so I think it’s safe to say enough people heard him alright. It just doesn’t get any better than that…WOW!!

Getting to the “not my circus, not my monkies” stage of ex-mormonism is the best. It's a sign that you've really moved in and healed from the trauma.

"Who said it? A General Authority or a Confederate General"
Incredible game show!
This could be a running theme, I'm sure there are more quotes waiting...
Brad’s Apology: "I’m sorry the general public caught me spewing a hateful shitty message the LDS absolutely approves of." Or: "The LDS church told me I have to say sorry."
Brad Wilcox firmly cements the LDS church as among the leading minds of the 18th century.
I think The Enlightenment was way ahead of these people. I pick the 15th century.

The talk wasn't unlike hundreds given to LDS youth... The exception is that it got recorded and put on the internet. Woopsie!
"General Authority or Confederate General?" Should 100% be shared with everyone.
"Extremely jowled men" is the phrase of the week
