- We bought our Mustang Mach-E First Edition in March 2021. This is our long term review after one year of ownership!
Overall, we a very satisfied with the Mach-E. It's been great for us in our daily use and on road trips. We love the comfort and performance of our Mach-E. Plus, it has some great tech and driver's assistance features.

I'll preface and say I love in SoCal where the weather is mild. I've had my Mach E since July and the one thing that surprised me is the range. I got the CA Route 1 trim with an EPA estimated range of 305. I consistently get 350-360 miles on a full charge (50/50 city/highway) which drops to 320-330 when temps got cooler.
That's awesome. Last summer in Denver I was close to 350 miles doing a mix of city/highway driving.
Just got my rapid red Mach E last month. Had a C-Max phev and loved it so decided to upgrade to all electric and LOVE it. I can plug in at night using just 110 and get a complete or good enough charge for the day. There’s an Electrify America charger just a few miles from me if I get too low so no range anxiety so far. The ride is awesome! The safety features are fantastic. Couldn’t be happier!
I do agree that the front windows could use more tinting.

Hey Pam that's awesome! I love that you're able to have your Mach-E without a level 2 charger! That's a great example for people who may not be able to install level 2's in their homes! We might be in the same situation and there are so many fast chargers in our area that we're not particularly worried about it! So glad you're loving your Mach-E! - Liv
I also am at one year and agree with the pros and cons. Suggestions: if you don’t like the bounce avoid aggressive drive modes and one pedal driving. Get snow tires for the winter for much better traction and stopping. Sleep mode for center screen is nice and now easy to access.
Electrify America has gotten so much better than when y'all last posted your Road Trip too...things are looking up.

Ford nailed the Mach-E. I know there were a lot of people upset by the name but it was a strategically brilliant idea....It got the car more attention and more sales...Ford is doing great. I just wish they jumped onto the EV market sooner. Between this and the EV6 and Ionic 5 Tesla is finally getting some serious competition.
Yesss the future is looking so bright for EV's! I'm excited to see more varied options coming out from all the major brands....and new manufacturers too. We need some good variety! - Liv

I ordered the Mach E in June 2021, got a build date of January 31, 2022. It’s now March, is that typical - 9 months or so still no car. I will be really happy when it arrives but the wait, eek!

Another great video! Your videos were a big influence in my decision to order the premium AWD, extended rapid red Mach e back in September. I finally got a build date of 4/11 a couple of weeks ago. Hoping to take delivery by end of April.

Hey Patrick and Liv, been a while as I've been busy but trying to catch up your vids. This was a great one year sum up with your Mach-E! Glad to see you guys are still enjoying Blucifier (sp?). I'm enjoying my rapid red baron mach-e. I'm actually in CO for a while but unfortunately my Mach-E is back home tucked away in the garage. One of these road trips (like you guys, more than likely not winter :) I'll drive out and will have to meet up. This past December I found some of those murals in RiNo I had asked you guys about. Amazing! In the mean time I have more Mach-E VLOGs to catch up on when I'm not on the slopes. ;-)

Ford has added a few OTA up dates/
Up grades...First they have added a towing feature..2204 capacity available in Europe first...Smoother one pedal drive at slower speeds...And Charging in the 80-90% range the time will be 15 minutes instead of 52 minutes...The MUSTANG Mach Es entire Interface will be getting an upgrade soon...
And we just got BlueCruise via OTA!

Hey guys. Another outstanding vid. Thank you for all the work you put into them. At around 16:30, Liv suggested doing a repeat of one of your old road trips now that the charging curve update is out and since EA has done some work on their charging infrastructure. I think that is a great idea. I would love to see kind of a comparison of how easy and fast the road trip would be now.

It will take longer. Lol. It will be at least 34 weeks to get mine that I ordered on. October 2nd.

Gotta agree about the color choices. When I ordered my 2021 CA Rt 1, grabber blue wasn’t available so I went rapid red. So happy with my choice in color.

Good luck with the recall! My First Edition is in right now and I had to do a LOT of my own leg work here in San Diego to figure out which dealers would do it and could do it, and if they outsourced the glass work or not, which company they used, etc. Ford really needs to work on that experience. It's a total crap shoot depending on which dealer you call. Dealer currently has had mine for 1 week for the recall and also the brake/rotor warping issue...no updates from them yet but I'm definitely a bit worried given all the recall horror stories. I'm going to ask them to high speed test it and water test it before telling me it's ready because so many people have had issues of more wind noise and/or water leaking after the recall. At least they said they're gonna install the 21P22 while they have it, but still no promise of Blue Cruise for me either. Kind of frustrating since we've had it a full year now.

@@MachE_VLOG They had it for a total of 17 days....took them 16 for the recall, and 1 for the rotor issue and 21p22 update. They don't do loaners so I had to take a shuttle to an Enterprise and get a rental...whole process took 3 hours by the time I got home. Actual recall work was done ok but they cut my front passenger seat...looks like someone sat in the seat with a screwdriver in their pocket and created a divot in the seat. I immediately pointed it out to my service advisor at pickup. She didn't even want to come out to look at it. She asked me to take a picture and mail it to her and she'd pass onto mgmt. So I did. Waited 5 days, heard from no one. Emailed her again, said she had passed along the issue to mgmt and someone would contact me. I waited another week, heard nothing from anyone. Emailed her again saying I was giving them one last chance to contact me and fix the seat before I answer the dealer survey they sent and wrote a review online. 4 more days and heard from nobody. So I completed the dealer survey, gave them a 1 star rating, explained why, and put them on blast in Facebook, Google and Yelp reviews. Whaddya ya know, the very next day the service operations director calls me apologizing and saying he's just hearing about all of this now. Asked me to bring the car back in so they can fix the seat, which I'm doing tomorrow. But it's still a huge hassle for me so I'm not exactly happy. Combined with all the gas money I spent on the loaner and half a month without the car while still making a car payment, net cost to me to be without the vehicle was about $550, plus all the inconvenience and following up repeatedly about the seat. Overall a very poor experience.

@@MachE_VLOG pretty much summed up our thoughts after 4.5 months. Our biggest complaint is not about the car. It’s about the infrastructure here in the Midwest and part of the South. But that will come with time and sooner rather than later, I think.

Thanks Anthony! It has been SO much fun getting to share this experience with this amazing community!! I'm not particularly concerned about the charging speed. On our last road trips, I was normally slower than the charger when it came to taking time at stops and, now that we've gotten the charging update, it's much faster over 80, so it's even better than it was. So not a big concern for me personally. I'm not sure if Kyle is doing a race race like across the country or a speed race? But I've totally thought about this because we got to hang out with Ryan from the Kilowatts and Laycee from Missgoelectric and talk about their experience on the Charge Across America race....but I feel like you need to watch that first before I say anything....have you watched it? - Liv
@@MachE_VLOG With EV6 and Ioniq 5 having crazy charging speeds, it makes me wonder about the Mach-E.
I watched Ryan/Laycee video on the Kilowatts and it was really interesting! Bummer they didn't have the update back then but Patrick's video + datalog on the new charging curve is awesome. Kyle had said it might be a point to point or a loop but wasn't sure yet. I'm just curious if you had to cover say 800km, would you guys YOLO it from 100% down to 5% out of the gate or down to between 20-50% and then get back to 80%,etc. Gotta love strategery! :-)
Great video (again...). I'm pretty much in agreement with all you said or pointed out. Mine is a Premium Red, 2wd, standard range. I've discussed, before, why I made those choices...which were "choices" based on EV experience...not just being cheap (not that it was cheap, anyhow). My "con" is behavioral. I use CarPlay all the time because it's my comfort zone having used it for about as long as it has existed. Apple Maps do a good job (but I have Waze and Google Maps, also)...but that does not give me the trip planning and charge stops information that you use so well with the Navigator. My son used to live in LA but has moved to FL which is rather impractical to drive in any car (from Utah). I love road tripping...but being widowed (2X)...going places alone doesn't hold much fascination. But as I was driving home the other night from Provo...up the canyon with curves...I was thinking how lucky I was to have this ride...the music was beautiful (using PlexAmp and streaming my home collection...which I find kind of amazing), the car was quiet, the curves were flat, it was 22 degrees but I was warm...I mean, what's to complain about !!

Not yet. It is supposed to take just a couple of days, but if they break the glass doing the repair, they have to order it. I heard some people being without their cars for a couple of weeks because of that. So I just decided to wait until April or so when we aren't as busy and it would be OK if that happens.

I own a RWD ER Select + Tech pack. Love it. But when driving over 80Km/h I start hearing wind noise from around above the driver's window. It gets stronger with speed and outside wind.
How did you experience wind and road noise ?
Oh wow! Certainly nothing like that! Since its focused on a specific area, I'd honestly consider having that looked at! Aside from the increase in road noise that's normal when you start driving faster, I don't personally notice anything significant in any particular area - Liv

I waited 2 years and will purchase a '23 GT PE Grabber Blue. With the new generation Mustang car arriving in March. How much do you think the new Mach E will look like the next gen '24 Mustang car? New '23 orders begin Aug 15 and they begin building them Oct 31
Guys why does a one year car review start with reviewing the car like it's day 1?
Because the review isn't for ourselves it is for people that don't own a Mach-E and are considering it now.
Something you said in the video piqued my interest. About how you're not rich and that the Mustang Mach E is kind of your baby. Any tips on how someone could go about affording the Mach E? Asking as someone in a single income household. We have a 2015 Nissan Leaf that I use for my commute. I have really been wanting more range, but the Mach E just seems like something out of reach for me.
If you could make do with standard range (so like 200-230 miles-and of course less in the winter), RWD. You could sell your Nissan for maybe 7k to put down on the Mach-E. Do Ford Options for 4 years at around $480 a month. Then in 4 years, turn your Mach-E in and perhaps do the same with a new vehicle. That's potentially what we're doing. If those specs suit you and you can afford $480, then that's a fab option. I do also see some great leasing deals on older Kia and Hyndai EV's that are lower priced and great options. - Liv

I'm only about half way through the video so I'm unsure if you touch on this later in the video, but I was wondering if you guys have noticed any battery degradation over this first year of ownership
I am coming up on one year with mine in March. Judging degradation won't be possible until summer weather comes back. Cold temperatures have lowered range in winter months. Luckily for my driving patterns it hasn't impacted my use of the car or charging habits. I am glad though that I got past my range anxiety before the cooler temperatures arrived. I see folks who are first time EV owners and who took delivery between Dec-Feb who have had a very difficult time emotionally dealing with range anxiety.

The roof glass how much warmer does it make the car ? I know when my wife has her moon roof shade open it gets hot winter or summer but hotter in the summer
I honestly don't notice a difference between the glass roof and a normal roof. The tinting is really really good. We drove around with the fabric shade on for a few weeks during the Summer and I kept forgetting it was there...it honestly didn't seem much different to just having the glass - Liv

How did it do for battery degradation over a year. What percent\miles loss over the year
Does it feel like sitting in a suv or car? Similar to Ford Escape? Or Explorer? Or Rav 4? Etc? Thanks.
It really is in between. It isn't quite like a car but doesn't feel like you are high up like in an Escape.
how smooth is the ride? how quiet?
For me, smoother than the GT, not as smooth as the GT Performance, and all the specs have been equally quiet and well-sealed. It's really a lovely, quiet ride. I find it really nice and smooth. I know some people have said it is a bit bouncy so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but it's certainly smooth enough for me. That said, the GTPE is smooth like butter! - Liv

I don’t have range anxiety, that’s because I Normally live in London. I am now in New York and can understand how range could be a concern. Maybe it’s a personal trait, I just don’t become anxious.

It's a First Edition - basically a Premium AWD Extended Range with some cosmetic changes.

@@RUclipsuseritis It is rated to get over 210 miles of range so that is a reasonable expectation -- unless it is really cold. In cold whether it might struggle to get the full 210+.
That car is loaded with great electronic features. What is the Blue Book value after one year, compared to what you paid for it? I see only one downside - and it's a BIG one - that's one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. Ford sold their soul by putting their Mustang emblem on this thing. I don't think I'm alone in my opinion, because I have only seen one on the road. Or maybe the chip shortage has seriously impacted production?
Different people have different tastes. They are limited by the batteries. But they are sold out now for the 2022 model year.
@@MachE_VLOG Don't equate being "sold out" with success. Sales in March were just 2,363 - on the entire planet. That's 10.4% less than in March 2001, and there is some speculation that more than half of those sales went to Europe. With more than 3,000 dealerships in the USA, one can easily rationalize why they're so hard to get. We could argue all day about whether or not the dismal sales numbers are due to soft demand, component shortages, or just a lack of manufacturing capability. I'm sure Ford would prefer to keep customers waiting than to have unsold cars build up on dealer lots, and if the demand was really there, they could find some way to build more. From my vantage, in the face of the competition, Ford HAS to dive deep into the EV market, ASAP. But, they have to do it carefully. You can't do that without some serious teething problems, and that seems to be what they're going through now.
@@Jay_Dahl The simple fact is that they are selling more Mach-Es than they planned for. The monthly fluctuations are due to chip shortages. The demand for the Mach-E has been so high that many dealers are charging markups of $10k or more. The used market is also fantastic for the Mach-E. They always planned on sending half of the Mach-Es made to Europe. What the didn't plan for is the demand. That is why they are increasing production to 200,000 per year. They even started making Mach-Es in China for that market. And you cap it all off the Mach-E has won glowing reviews and over a dozen awards. The Mach-E is successful beyond even what Ford was expecting.
@@MachE_VLOG I actually agree with you more than you might think. The EV market is growing like crazy. But that doesn't change my opinion that the Mustang EV is one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. Hopefully they'll redesign it to give it a little more curb appeal. When I think of Mustang, I think of 007 James Bond, Mustang Mach 1, Diamonds Are Forever. It's a shame they're making that new Mustang EV down in Mexico. I heard this week that the Texas border is virtually shut down due to Texas Governor Greg Abbott trying to win reelection. I hope that doesn't screw up availability of Mexican made cars any more than it already is.

Biden loves Ford and hate Tesla, yet no one ever complain how the Mach-E is made in Mexico!!??? Biden seems to love it this fact and hate that Tesla is made here in the US!!??
Lots of people complain. I hear from Tesla fans all the time about it. On the bright side, Biden's EV tax credit proposal would reward EVs made in the US. And even better, Ford is investing billions in US EV production. The F-150 Lightning is going into production next month in Michigan and Ford has announced its largest campus ever in Tennessee. That campus will be dedicated to EV research, manufacturing, and recycling.
@@MachE_VLOG Hopefully, the Mach-E dies like the Bolt, otherwise it encouraged FORD to focus on creating manufacturing jobs in Mexico. So far, it’s a middle finger to those that complain.
@@akira28shima32 Did you miss the part where I said the Lightning is being built in MI? Or the new EV campus in Tennessee? I should also mention Ford employs about 57,000 hourly workers in the U.S., more than any other automaker. And they have 88,000 total employees in the US. They scheduled the Mach-E to be built in Mexico because that factory was going to be idle so it was available. I believe they have already said the next generatiion Mach-E will be built in the US. The Mach-E will live a long history and is a tremendous & successful first step in their electfication of the company.
@@MachE_VLOG In 2018, Bill Ford says Ford will have 40 hybrids and EV by 2022 and GM says they’ll have 30 EV by 2025. Perhaps Farley can do better. So, until I see it, it’s all words, if not to be relevant and/or keep stock price up.
@@akira28shima32 Farley is doing better. A lot better if you've been paying attention. Mach-E has exceeded sales goals and they are increasing production this year. They've also started making the Mach-E in China for that market. The e-Transit is now being delivered to customers. The Lighting will be delivered to customers this spring and they are doubling production. It will be the best selling EV truck this year.
Hands down one of the ugliest mustangs ever made the designer should be put out of their misery for ruining the mustang!
