It's one skill to design and plant a garden but quite another to understand soil condition, nutrition and commit to putting in the work in order to keep the garden not just alive but THRIVING. Beautiful. I have great respect for all knowledgeable, passionate gardeners. Thanks for this upload. Mottisfont is totally worth visiting in real life because so many of their roses have a wonderful scent.
Hi Kimberley! I'm thankful you were kind enough to bring us along on your fun garden adventures across the pond! I do hope you were able to take time away from shooting a video to enjoy the gardens yourself and really immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings! Thank you again!

Look at you In Mottisfont!! Gosh it’s so beautiful! We visited back in 2016 but it was a cold spring so we didn’t see many blooms! It was still beautiful though! Thanks for sharing this so I can see it in bloom!
@@TheRoseGeek that would be amazing!! I’d love to go back. We are planning a big trip to Greece/Mediterranean cruise next summer, maybe I could manage a trip to England again in 2024! 😍🥰
Wow! This garden is so huge and vibrant with soo…. many colors! I loved the old garden roses like Archiduc Joseph, Prolifera de Redoute and others, beautiful climbing roses along the walls and the combinations of colorful perennials with the roses! Very interesting and full of ideas! Thank you so much for sharing this spectacular garden tour with us! Have lots of fun❤️😍🌹
Wonderful to come across this today. I was actually at Mottisfont on 25th June and again on 28th, whilst on holiday in Hampshire. I definitely plan to return another year in June when the roses are in full bloom.
Wow! We’re more drawn to the creamy white and pink roses among the blue purple perennials. The deeper red ones are beautiful too but hard to capture on video and photo unless the lighting is just right. Thanks for taking us along.
Thank you for sharing this garden and there are not a lot of videos on mottisfont rose garden on you tube. I've seen some images in the garden revivall on bbc before, so thank you. You seem to discover some old roses. Me too even if we already know aa lot of them, we are still learning. Here we see how they are growing.
Oh my! Magnificent! Thanks for giving us the names, i am always looking for new beauties. Especially since David Austin is out of so many & discontinued Royal Jubilee.
This was perfect! It was so easy to get ideas! I got to see what I like in the garden and don't like, just as if I was there. Great filming and looking forward to the next one! Off to find some bellfowers to add to my roses. Thank you so much.
What a glorious garden. So many beautiful flowers. It was nice to see Spong, I added it this year but I may not get to see it bloom until next year. And Felicia, mine is small but has been blooming constantly, I can't wait to see her grown up like that one. I want to get Apothecary Rose at some point. The companion plants are beautiful too. It would be amazing to walk through there, I bet it smells amazing. Thanks for bringing us along!
@@TheRoseGeek It can be found at HCR, Heirloom, DA and I think Greenmantle. But is out of stock. Can be listed as Apothecary's Rose, Apothecary Rose or Gallica Officinalis.
So pretty! Some of those OGR look like Standard trees! The canes were so tall and thick. It was around the 7:30 minute mark. This is how I would want my garden to look if I had my own English estate :)
Nice to see Breeze Hill growing against the wall, an American-bred rose that's nearly impossible to find in it's country of origin. I think one nursery offers it as a custom propagation and that's it. I have to add that Graham thomas picked his namesake rose, it was his choice to bear his name. He didn't like harsh vulgar color roses, oranges etc.
OMG! Not a black spot or sawfly hole to be seen. 😭 I'm in Chianti and am at war not only with black spot, aphids, and sawfly, but heat like a convection pizza oven. I love your channel so much. This is just stunning. Who takes care of all these roses? How is it possible to keep them all so perfect? What is the name of the gorgeous pink rambler at (I think) 7:09. I thought I heard Blush Rambler. Thank you so much for all of this beauty. ❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I did the walking tour of over 1000 gardens England and France .Then built my own on 5acres and a house . English all the way but in warmer Europe. Yours Lord Kevin Parr
@@TheRoseGeek i collect Old Roses and what i read about Nuits de Young is that they are very capricious, difficult to grow. so i didn't bother to invest. But how beautiful she is!
Absolutely dreamy garden. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE OGRs; unfortunately many will not bloom in my zone. I do manage the ones I can grow and baby a few that require special care. Thank you for taking the time to record all this beauty.
I'm in south Florida zone 10b and many OGRs require chill hours to bloom; this climate does not provide enough winter chill not to mention our super sandy soils and hot humid summers. I can grow Felicia and Sombreuil along with some others but mainly chinas and teas. My do not look as prolific as in Mottisfont. An expert in growing roses in Florida is Dr. Malcolm Manners from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, of course Paul Zimmerman is overall expert. You and your climate can certainly grow them. By the way, I am more interested in DAs now and have acquired a few more after watching your videos and Backyard Paradise's you tube channel. As if I needed anymore roses. :-)
Right after you say Zephrine at about 05:51, do you know what that white climber is running across the wall or something similar that you know of and can recommend? I'm looking for something like that in white and light pink but get totally overwhelmed when looking online that I give up.
@@TheRoseGeek @The Rose Geek YOU ROCK! Thanks so much! We are LOVING your channel. Just stumbled upon it yesterday and been binging on it since! Thank you for the info and helping me through this most difficult, sterile stretch of winter!!!
