  • Test Your Text Completion versus a 340 GRE Tutor. There are five examples that I will go through, and do pause the video to try them yourself.
I offer private GRE / GMAT tutoring online at a fixed rate of $140/hr. Please get in touch via the email below, or through my tutoring website: www.gretutorlondon.com/
    Enquiries: philip@gretutorlondon.com
My text completion strategy comes in three parts:
    Read the passage slowly.
Check if my answers fit the tone (is my choice a synonym or antonym of another word in the text?).
    Reread to be Sure.
This video will hopefully give some people guidance on how to do text completion, but is also a bit of fun.

@@TheTestedTutor Hi Philip! I hope my comment may bring some inspiration then! I recently took the GRE and found that I was stuck on math questions pertaining to prices, interest, and even charts where they would look at the costs of various different objects. I think it is mostly trying to figure out how to translate the story into a math equation and how to properly use the simple annual interest formula. I hope my comment isn't too vague (it probably is), but if you know what I am trying to refer to then it would be great to know how to tackle these kinds of problems. Thanks again for your help!

Is it true that the questions contained in the Manhatten 5 lb book are at a higher standard compared to the ones that are asked in the actual test? I'm asking because I found these questions quite solvable, whereas I find it difficult to answer some of the questions in that book.

Amazing video, per usual. I make sure to like and comment on everyone I watch!
I stopped using my other prep and have just been using your videos. I understand yours more. It would be great if in the videos you left homework from the GRE big book or whatever book. Also, advice? I took my first practice test 01/30/232, yesterday and I had HORRIBLE test anxiety. I got a 150 on verbal and 147 on quant. I didn't submit any essays. I tried to treat it as if I was actually testing and it was, well awful. I froze up and I had to read the verbal passages over and over. Then with quant if I couldn't immediately see a way to solve the problem my mind would just feel doomed and I would draw blanks. I couldn't think of any formula or logical method at that level of anxiety. My graduate program is for a DNP for CRNA, nurse anesthesiologist. I don't need anything crazy. They just want a 292 or higher with a 3.5 or higher on writing, which i haven't even studied yet! My test is in 10 days. Any advice on what to focus on? I'm just chaotically studying everything. Any words of encouragement that there is a chance for me? lol

Any advice for learning vocab? Most questions that I’ve tried, I seem to have a pretty good grasp at what the texts are getting at or what they mean.
It’s the answer choices which trip me up (contrary to what some of my friends and other example videos say in that they know the vocab/definitions of the answer choices, but the meaning of the text trips them up).

Is vocab more important or reading difficult articles more crucial while preparing for the GRE?
Many people advocate that reading should be emphasized more than learning the meanings of difficult words.
What's your take on that? Since, you have a perfect score in verbal, so I reckon your's would be the best advice.
