    It's great to see / hear him so young! It broke my heart when I saw him in later years and he had those oxygen tubes. I couldn't bear to see him that way. I am glad he is now in the presence of Jesus, completely healed and more whole/strong than he was even during his prime here on earth!

    Anyone else here looking for a perspective on "mytho-history"? Sproul seemed to dance on this subject pretty heavily, even if he didn't use the term. I love his honesty to charge the difficulties of the text head-on. Definitely historical elements to the story. Definitely curious and tricky elements suggestive of myth and symbol (which isn't the same thing as saying "false" or "fabricated").

    Was the serpent a snake? Scripture says it was cast
    Into a snake after the fall. So maybe there was no talking snake...but whatever it was it could reason and communicate.

      Yes, deceptive people are often characterized as snakes. Could've been satan incarnate. Snakes are deceptive in their animal nature.

    The serpent as we see it today is different from the time he was speaking to Adam and Eve. God gave the serpent a punishment.

    This guy was a theological philosopher. It's a shame he didn't spend his time preaching how to get saved and how to stay saved. That is what God required of him! Not the white noise!

    • @sumrican
      @sumrican Месяц назад

      Hes edifying the church and you call it white noise? So teaching the body how to study the scriptures is white noise? Teaching the saints how to read the scriptures and interpret them is equiping them for the work of ministry which helps us persevere in the faith. Thats exactly what teachers are supposed to do based on the scriptures. God has given the church Teachers and evangelists.

    • @brucedavenport7016
      @brucedavenport7016 Месяц назад

      @@sumrican In order to "edify the Church', you first need to establish that you know, understand and preach the basics of Scripture.
      That is, how to get saved and how to stay saved.
      Sproule missed those classes!
      My point is, if you don't get the salvation message preached accurately, scripturally and often from the platform, what good is the rest?
      He's attempting to edify a group of people that he has told are saved, when they actually are not.

    • @sumrican
      @sumrican Месяц назад

      Your assumption is that they are not saved. Your also assuming that he never did preach the gospel. Theres a place to do the work of an evangelist, its obvious that this is not his aim here. His aim here is to instruct people in Gods word and those who are seeking to learn how to read Gods word are usually the ones who would search this content.

    • @brucedavenport7016
      @brucedavenport7016 Месяц назад

      @@sumrican It's not assumption about his theology. Watch his videos, read his books, listen to his peers. His theology is bad!
      You can't teach someone how to drive a car properly if you have never ever even seen a car!!
      My point is that he appears so credible that people listen to and believe him.
      Sadly without doing any research themselves.
      What they end up believing is false doctrine.
      Not just this guy, but probably 99% of the youtube evangelists you find!

    "Literary Forms in the Bible-History or Myth?"
    Kind Sir...your espousal when it comes to Literary and Myths...
    Is TRUE; in many cases. Yet there are an enumerable times when they are Bold Faced Lies too...IE: RCC's believe that Mary on a huge building. And untold people go there with candles; and worship that "NOTHING" on the building. May Jesus have mercy!
    Also, there are billions of people (over 4,400 yrs) that believe: EVERY word in scripture; IS literal AND...inspired by "God"! How sad. And sadder, even Paul believed...
    2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
    And Jesus proved that was a LIE; several times! Compare Deuteronomy 24:1 vs Mathew 19:3-8. And compare Mathew 1:1 vs John 8:58 and Mathew 22:41-45. And remember verse 45! Not to mention Hebrews 6:4-6 and 10:26 vs Mark 3:28-29.
    And untold other contradictions, spelling errors, grammatical errors, pagan myths, and outright bold faced LIES; from Gen to Rev. Which MOST credible bible scholars; have known for centuries. Believe it or not.
    End of Story and I rest me case...
    ...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

      @@ferbiously Thank you kind person. It is always joyous when I get a rare reply; where the author is kind and nice. Like you. So...
      Sorry for the LONG comment, but I believe it is needed) Now...
      Since I NEVER debate or argue. Or answer people who are sarcastic, mean or Etc; I will answer here the question; that sarcastic and mean person; replied above.
      Yes, I believe Paul WAS indeed Wrong. As ALL writers that write things are NOT True. Like these...
      Deuteronomy 24:1 where Moses wrote something vs Mathew 19:3-8 where Jesus said Moses WAS dead wrong. And...
      Matthew 1:1 written by Matthew (a disciple) sad Jesus was the son of David, vs John 8:58 and Matthew 22:41-45 where Jesus said Matthew was dead wrong. And He was NEVER the "son of David". And...
      Hebrew 6:4-6 and 10:26 written by (UN-know! For there is NO credible evidence who wrote the book. Where many bible Scholars state that book does NOT belong in any bible). vs Mark 3:28-29 where Jesus proves those 2 verses were dead Wrong.
      Thus...since there are contradictions and etc, ALL over bibles: Paul's theses in 2 Tim 3:16 is also dead Wrong. Even though I am sure He believed that.
      However, MOST of what Paul hit the nail on the head. Even though he has several big duds. But I still love him. Because He became THE greatest "Disciple" of Jesus, that would ever be.
      And Jesus WILL forgive his mistakes. And same for EVERY other "credible" writers.
      Now kind person, I could go on and on; from Gen to Rev. But sadly, 99.9% of the Christian World deny that. Sad indeed. And I simply will NOT debate or argue with any one. And since I am NOT a preacher, for I am a Teacher; I will continue to say what I comment.
      End of Story and I rest me case...
      And thank you again dear person of Jesus. And may He richly bless you and yours always.
