Fender Acoustasonic 90. Just unboxed it. I chose it because it’s light-weight, powerful, has a vocal and instrument channel and effects are separate for each channel.

I use a Marshall AS100D acoustic guitar/vocal amp. The sound is very rich, warm and professional. The onboard effects are sparse but all of a high quality and very useable. It's also easy to use. Once I got this, all my other amps went out the window! The AS100D is a classic amp in the making and a must for any singer/player who want's the best but without breaking the bank. Highly recommended.

Walked into a store and played the fishman loudbox mini and artist and I was blown away. However…in a dark and dusty corner I spotted a fender acoustasonic pr370 sfx. It was a vintage monster so I had to try it. The fullness in sound and the power of the lows made the fishmans sound like a tin can. Which is not an insult, the fishmans are amazing. I bought the fender and right now I’m dialing it in using your videos. Can’t wait!

I loved the TAC Family story. Having only plunked around on a guitar that I purchased in 1972 and never really learned how to play, I began lessons at a local shop in October 2020. After about seven lessons now I have kept myself encouraged by recognizing all the small victories in my progress. This year has been difficult for all of us, with many of us in near seclusion because of the Big Beer Bug of 2020, so we need to do everything we can to stay encouraged. Thanks for this info on the amps, Tony and thank you for all you do for the guitar community! By the way, for those that didn't recognize him, that AER Compact 60 was demoed by John Oates, of Hall and Oates!!

I'm surprised ya made no mention of the Boss Acoustic Singer series of acoustic amps. I bought the Boss Acoustic Singer Pro which is 120 watts and costs $780. This amp for both acoustic instruments and vocals is nothing short of stellar. And in addition to the supplied "A & B" footswitch that controls the vocal harmonies and looper/overdub features, I also use the Boss GA-FC foot switch ( 6 buttons ) and run both foot switches for total control of the amp. HIGHLY recommended. One issue worth mentioning: for anyone using one of these Boss Acoustic Singer amps ( several models/sizes ) I warn against using a Shure SM58 microphone, because they sound "boomy & muddy" through these amps. Instead, use a Sennheiser e835 microphone and watch/listen to these amps spring to life!!! I've relied on several Shure SM58's ran through my PA systems over the years, and they are tried & true workhorse mic's......but for some reason, they don't work so well with these amps.

    • @jameslifetimelearner
      @jameslifetimelearner 2 месяца назад

Didn’t they sell a dedicated mic for that system?

    • @howabouthetruth2157

@@jameslifetimelearner Hey James..........not to my knowledge. Before I bought the Boss Singer Pro amp, I did extensive research on this amp ( and several of the other top-rated acoustic amps ), from video/audio reviews to tech's & spec's that included the various pedals made by Roland/Boss ( 3 of them NOT counting the included 2-button switch I discussed in my original comment ) that can also be used with this amp in conjunction with the included footswitch. I actually learned ( from 2 other owners ) about the boomy sound from using a Shure SM58, and how the Sennhauser e835 works great ( and it does )..........but never found any info about any dedicated mic made special for this amp. Perhaps you were thinking about the phantom power switch to allow the use of condensor mic's on channel 1, which is the vocal mic channel, but can also be used for a condensor mic ONLY if the phantom power is used........and that would be for another acoustic instrument OR for running 1 guitar that has a pickup system through channel 2: ( the guitar ch ) and also use a condensor mic for the same guitar that would run through chan 1. Never tried that by the way, I don't have any condensor mic's currently. But I sing while playing, so I doubt I will ever try that anyway.

@@howabouthetruth2157 The mic you’re using has 200ohm more impedance than sm58!

    • @howabouthetruth2157
      @howabouthetruth2157 2 месяца назад

@@jameslifetimelearner I never paid any attention to the spec's of mic's. I've only paid attention to ohm's pertaining to speakers, and how NOT to screw up by using speakers with a different impedance. I've owned & gigged with lots of amps a few PA's, and other gear........but when it came to the real technical stuff, I would simply seek the advice from local amp tech's for what will work, or is safe to use. I've always concentrated on playing guitar, singing, and blues harp. I used a pair of SM58's for 9 years when my ex-partner and I gigged as an acoustic duo, and the SM58's served us very well. But during my research of the Boss Acoustic Singer Pro amp, I did find 3 different reviews from owners stating that the SM58 didn't work so well for vocals with this amp, and that the Sennhauser e835 solved their problems with unruly/boomy sound. So I simply went with the e835, and all is great. Throughout the decades of playing & performing, I haven't blown anything up yet, nor have I electrocuted myself, lol. Seen plenty of others who weren't so lucky though.

Moreover, an amp is not a board, so there is no light or graphic eq ti show clipping. It’s pretty tough to judge. Any additional hints?

    I love you VIDEOS!
This is my first time asking a question.
In this video, you discussed the set-up of my acoustic guitar AMPLIFIER.
However, it did not help me much because you only talked about the AMP's SETTINGS.
My Alvarez acoustic-electric guitar has GAIN and EQ settings on board, and my AMPLIFIER also has GAIN and EQ settings!
So how should I adjust my guitar's GAIN and EQ, and then adjust my AMP's GAIN and EQ?
I'm guessing the GUITAR's settings should be made FIRST. Yes? But where should the AMP's settings be? I DON'T KNOW?!
It's almost like there are TOO MANY OPTIONS...which can likely cause problems.
What if I boost the GUITAR BASS a little, and then I boost the AMP's bass a little?
Or should I keep the AMP settings at 12 o'clock and just boost or cut the guitar EQ?
I'm sure I'm not the only person in your audience with these questions.
    Thanks!
PS: I'm 73 years old, and I am doing a 90-minute solo FOLK CONCERT Friday night, and I am using my guitar amp.
And to further complicate things, my powered 12-inch PA speaker also has GAIN??? Arrrgh! LOL

I have a Roland ac60. Don't use it live though. I play live regularly. When we gig live I use 2 different preamps set for 2 different guitars. My main guitar is a D28 with a K&K. I run that through a BBE acoustimax preamp. My secondary guitar is a Martin GPCPA1 which has the Fishman Aura F1 pickup. I run this through the LR Bags Venue preamp. Both preamps go direct to PA. Both sound great for different reasons. One thing universal for both preamps is that the mids are cut way back. If you have everything at 12 o'clock and cut the mids by 75%, that's a good start. If you have a Taylor with an ES system, may God have mercy on your soul. Good luck.

I don’t have an acoustic amp yet but I’ll take all your suggestions into consideration.

Funny thing for me, I'm an electric guitarist but I have a guild f112 acoustic Jumbo with a fishman pick up, until I purchased the loudbox mini, I always plugged into my Marshall JCM 800 hIf stk, w/ reverb @ very low vol and it sounded so wonderful!...still does, love the Loud box mini, though I prefer using mike on the guitar through the Mini!!! Warmer sound..

I have a Boss acoustic live which replaced my Fishman loudbox mini. The Fishman was fantastic and definitely the best for finger picking and solos but I never could get a good sound for streaming. Besides it’s not so good for voice. The Boss is fantastic for both streaming and solos but also singing is a lot much better. Besides there are many effects like harmonizing voices and guitars. It’s great and very easy to use. Finally the cherry on the cake is the looper. Only 40 seconds buts it’s enough for allowing me doing solos in my gigs. It’s also very helpful when I work on a new song to record myself and listen to how it sounds immediately and in a very easy way. It can record the two channels voice and guitar. it's almost double the price of the Fishman but if you add all the boss effects that are integrated into the amp it's the same with the big difference you don't need to bother with lots of pedals and cables everywhere

You should also mention using a powered PA speaker. I’ve been through so many acoustic amplifiers and by far the best sounding is the PA speaker. I use a Bose S1Pro or Bose F1. So many options out there though that would be great choice. EV Evolve 30 is awesome.

I have a Behringer basic acoustic amp - good effects, nice looking amp. I play both an Ibanez Artcore Jumbo body with an amp system in it and one of the best sounding (for the price) acoustic guitars - Yamaha FG800.

indeed i'm one of those contemplating to buy an acoustic amp :) i had several gigs using a mini blackstar amp, debut 10e, but the sound is not so great... i managed to get a decent tone out of it, but now i'm heading towards something dedicated for acoustic. and i was thinking of a fender acoustic junior - is it worth it? or better a loudbox fishman amp? fender offers more power, but how about the tone?

Running a Taylor 814ce 2010 Es-1 using a fishman loudbox artist. Trying to decide for live gigs to mic the amp to the mixer mackie profx16 to a set of mackie thumps 215xt OR run the fishman into the mixer. Any suggestions. Was running tchelicon and seems like the chords g or c the sound modulates compared to a D or A chord also noticing while between songs at a gig a popping sound every now and then. So decided to switch back to the fishman amp and trying to decide if micing the amp or sending the signal from the fishman to the amp. Any suggestions would be welcomed! Even thought of selling the tchelicon for a boss v-8 but some bad reviews as well some say boss ve-500 vocal performer works on acoustics think that’s wrong for electric only. So would need both one for electric one for acoustic. Wish it would work for both because the boss ve-500 has good reviews for electric and would use on my casino. Thanks for the video and keep on jammin!

Just purchased the Fishman Loudbox Acoustic. I struggled with which on to purchase due to my use case. First, I don't play a instrument (though I plan to one day). What I love to do is sing. I went with the Fishman as it has Bluetooth and use a back track and sing. Always interested if anyone else uses if mostly for vocals

I play a Taylor 224CE Koa Deluxe through a Marshall AS50D in our church. The amp is then fed to our house PA system via XLR. My Taylor has a 2 band EQ and so does the Marshall with a Low/High, however no Mid. It does have an adjustable notch filter for removing feedback. I've struggled on how to adjust the EQ. Should I do it at the guitar or at the amp or both? I typically find myself backing the Mid off but in this case I don't have a Mid adjustment. Any ideas?

Dear Tony, you mentioned a feedback checklist. However it is not in the video. You probably won't be able to manage feedback using the amps EQ without compromising the overall tone. Feedback occurs with very specific frequencies and you need a notch filter or parametric EQ, or graphic EQ to isolate them. On stage I use a feedback buster. It is like a rubber bath plug that fits in the guitars sound hole. It dampens the soundboard reducing resonance induced by the sound from the amplifier. Cheers mate. Love your work.

Ive got a genz benz- my first acoustic amp- very nice amp- cost 350$. I found it to be a little to small for a band setting outside of rehersal. So i got a rumble 500. Its got a great eq and speaker- about 40 lbs takes pedals great, def gets enough volume when needed. I csn play anything through it, bass, electric, and of course acoustic. Also 350$

I have often thought that bass amps would make great acoustic guitar amplifiers because they usually have a tweeter whereas electric guitar amplifiers don’t.

@@im58woody the rumble is super versatile. Im a fan of clean amp tones mostly. Ill add delay or reverb. My electric has p90s so it gets a nice growl on it’s own when needed

I got two busking amps Orange Acoustic 30 and Joyo bsk60
And Orange beats everything. It serves me for over 4 years now, went through every kind of weather, and needed tech support only once after all of that 😁
With 30W it has much more headroom than this Joyo with 60W. You can power it with 10x AA form acumulators which is for me 25000 mAh (about 18h of playing at full volume both guitar+mic) it's built in reverb is kind of meh... But chorus is great and you can blend it with reverb to get really unique sound.
Cons of joyo bsk60? It's fckin massive, and you can sit on it 🤣 also build in delay and looper with included pedal works great.

Tony, a other great show! As a viewer that has been with you from the beginning, it has been interesting to see the arc of the show and how it has evolved. These days it is much more streamlined and has shifted to focus mostly on TAC members. Not saying that's bad - just different. I definitely miss things like the mail bag and 'you know you're a guitar geek when...' segments, as well as others, but there's a lot of good content developing. As always, looking forward to seeing what comes next.

I know, I know, Noah is helping his wife with their new business venture in daycare, and Levi still comes around to help in the background once in a while. I’m waxing poetic now, but you know what I mean.
