  • Beautiful Beilstein, Germany on the Mosel river also known as the "Sleeping Beauty of the Mosel." Stroll through the quaint village for some shopping, wine tasting, and delicious German cuisine. You can also take a short hike up to explore the ruins of Burg Mitternich and take in the panoramic view of the area from the castle restaurant as you enjoy a nice glass of Riesling wine. There are other hikes around Beilstein that winds through the vineyards with spectacular views of the Mosel river. Beilstein is truly a hidden gem.

Man, I had tears in my eyes. Sometimes we forget how beautiful Germany is. It is a great country in many ways.

I'm lucky enough to live in Eastern Belgium, 30 kms to the German border, a two-hour drive away to the Mosel area, which my wife and I simply LOVE. You're making me miss my past trips to the area (not for the last two years because of our friends Corona and Virus), and I feel even more like going again. But I've not yet visited Beilstein so far, will be on our itinerary next spring.

@@travelingexpats Yes, we've been back several times - but still have to see Beilstein. We'll be in the Mosel Valley (Bernkastel-Kues) for a couple of days again next week for the Christmas Market.

Yes, those old "Fachwerkhäuser" really makes it look like a Fairy tale. Nice shots. Let's see more.

This is what it looks like. I don't think that the people who live there are sort of fairy tale characters. They live their lives like anybody else with the same problems of earning a living, kids' school problems etc.

we could have had more places all over germany if the allies didn't bomb places like these to the ground or if ww2 didn't happen in general, wish todays architectures would build more of these old style buildings in the modern day. just ugly block buildings and modern architectures everywhere.

@@hannofranz7973 ... but it doesn´t have to stop us from rebuilding old houses or prevent us from building new ones that - at least in outer appearance - resemble the traditional ones.
Unfortunately today´s administration makes that almost impossible ...
