The difference in sound between LPJ and TRIBUTE is literally there, but how strong it is, everyone decides for himself. LPJ has more sustain due to the thick neck. The Tribute has pickups that are more interesting to me
This tribute model looks like it comes with the same wood as the lpj the maple neck and mahogany body..The pickups are what are different the tribute has a set 490r 490t a Lpj 490r 498t , that's why the difference.. The tribute seems little+ closed to Lpj with the + open sound.. The lpj in a band mix is little+ musical + versatile because of the neck and pickup, but it's easy to solve that when you go to the solo play switch to the middle or neck position.. Will keep the sound versatility and sustain without having to change guitars.. I have an Lpj and I use a tribute like a friend of mine, he realized that it didn't cut well in the mix, something was missing..He changed the bridge pickup for the 498t and that solved the problem.. But I like the 50 neck, it makes the sound more fat and big
