So do you now have the blue flare Remus? In the other video, you had the amber ones and you said you preferred the blue flare. However, all the videos on YT about the Remus, are the amber. It seems people prefer Amber flares... perhaps it's because a blue flare will look weird in daylight?
I have blue flare! Everyone’s full of 💩 when it comes to Amber vs blue. Personally I love blue because it reminds me of the iconic vintage panavision anamorphics. When I think of all my favorite anamorphic films, I think of blue flares. Just because Star Trek went crazy with them everyone on RUclips started to make hot takes on flares without acknowledging actual anamorphic history and knowledge. So what I say is.. ignore me and everyone else and chose what flare pleases your eye the most.
Amber to me seems distracting. Like I don’t want to be inside and see random orange flares. And even in daylight, if you’re getting the sun in frame.. you most likely have blue skies.. so you’re now dealing with even more obviously flares. Like what do you see in daylight more.. blues or orange…… people’s “opinions” make no sense cause they’re just repeating nonsense haha.
Great answer! Thank you for your time. ❤️ BTW I think you're the first on YT who shows the blue remus!
@cammackey I am going against the tide here, lol yes love both, but I prefer the Amber, but people need to remember they are really subtle, almost look like a neutral flare unless you have a very strong light. Not sure if the blue is the same. But pretty hard to get a strong colour amber flare on my set. 😮
@@waynosfotoscameras question is… what is a natural flare? To me, anamorphic flares matching their light source are distracting. Silver flares that is. I have a rant video coming soon 😂😂😂
@cammackey I didn't really buy them for the flares, I bought them for barrel distortion and stigmatism in the out of focus areas. The flares is an addition to me.
“Passion kills laziness” 🔥🔥
This is by far the best cimematic how-to video feel I have seen being being presented/explained on RUclips.
My favorite part about this video and all of your other videos is how easy you make this seem. You have a swagger about the way you set up such simple and dramatic lighting scenarios. This was super helpful in guiding some areas of filming myself that have been a tad overwhelming. Thanks for packaging it in a dope video.
Loved it Cam. Bringing some major value to everyone.
ALWAYS DROPPING HEAT! This is what I always needed. Thank you!
So glad I found your channel, Bruhbruh. I learn so much. Thank you for all your efforts!
Every episode is a masterclass 🧡
Another Banger video. Thank you for this Mackey!
You make great videos with a lot of value. Very thankful for discovering your content. I wish you well brother.
This is one of the best channels for self cinema shots. Good work.
Just bought your previous LUT set, and man, i love it! It works exactly as i hoped. Tested it side by side with Phantom LUTs and i like your LUTs much more every time. I hope you will make a bit detailed video about your new LUTs, as you did with previous set ;-)
This was a great video man!
Awesome episode! Loved it! Also your side note about passion kills laziness
That was great. Love that little Small Rig light! Thanks for mentioning storytelling because that is lacking in many videos.
“I’m obsessed with anamorphic” 4:03. I literally can’t film with anything else after I picked up the Sirui 50 1.33x for my Fuji X-S10. I wish the bokeh was a bit more oval but other than that I’ve been blown away by the performance for $429. The last time I was seriously into filmmaking anamorphic was the realm of $30k+. 🤯 they’re now widely available to the masses and perform WAYYYY better than they have any right to. Also, for natural lighting scenarios indoors people underestimate the power of negative fill, $15 of Joanne fabric blackout cloth is invaluable!
No Country for Old Men and There will be Blood two of my favorites!!
The type of stuff that helps grow and foster filmmakers to explore!
Great ideas- subtle tweaking of available light is often all you need- and with digital sensors high ISO's it's nice to be able to use small fixtures (and practicals...)- and crafting light is THE key!
Down n dirty, straightforward and honest. Dig it. 🤙🤘
Short side, Broad side, shoot on the short side - loving those shadows 👏🏻
U are unique brother. Im dead serious you are the best teacher of all!
My boy Cam always making gold... Hey brother @cammackey thanks for all the videos and knowledge some of us really really appreciate what you do. Keep it up!
Love it! I have a bunch of old and new anamorphic lenses. It's a classic cinema look that is very rich and organic. It creates the perfect imperfections! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’ve gotten some beautiful film photos of that same abandoned gas station in Desert Center, CA on my way to LA. They also filmed an episode of the 80’s show Airwolf in Desert Center just down the street from there. Very cool spot for photography, video, etc🙏🏼
New sub here. Awesome vid, love the breakdown & and behind the screens. Binge watching your channel. Thanks!
The road to creative freedom is learning independence. This video is a masterclass.
The intro scene got me hooked. And i laughed. Good inspirational content. I think i will subscribe
Great video Cam, thanks for the tips when filming in this lonely world we work in
We’re just lonely lonely men
who spend too much on gear 😂 ( camera gear ) 👀 @@cammackey
I know i wouldnt be able to shoot like this.. but i truly enjoy this .. u r very talented and a great teacher..👍👏👏👏greetings from Malaysia 🇲🇾

This guy is AWESOME ❤
Liking what I'm hearing and seeing! Subbed! xD
I subscribed, liked and shared, THANK YOU for this video man! Amazing
🥹🙏🏽 thank you man I really appreciate that
This is heat!
This is a treasure for me.
Brother this was an amazing and very informative video. Can you please make more vids like this
The Ulanzi Tripod has been one of the most convenient tripods when traveling ever. Great video dude
Cam sounds exasperated and like he's so done with all our crap 😂🖤
😂😂😂😂
hi cam, if im not mistaken you have the dulens, will that clear with the laowa rear anamorphic adapter?
You are one of a kind on my "pretty decent" YT feed. This Is Some Serious Gourmet Shit ❤
Great video i love you color what picture profile you use any Luts in post. thanks
How do you expose for low light as well as what picture profile are you using in those moments? It seems at times with the fx3 trying to expose for low the scene tends to be too bright. Also if i expose the scene darker in camera there's lot of noise.
;) ruclips.net/video/12JBFcc-n68/видео.htmlsi=BraiGZ-yq47HrzfU
Did you end up shimming your blazar lenses? I've seen some people complain about soft focus on the 100mm but your 100mm shots look real nice and clean!
No. The 100mm is soft because they’re shooting wide open. In actual filmmaking you rarely need to be shooting at T2.8 at 100mm……
very well explained.
what's the item you are holding at 4:41 called? and can it be used with the ZV-E1?? great video btw! really liked it haha, could you also make a video on how to white balance with tungsten lights or just interiors in general? I really struggle with this ^^
EDIT: nevermind I didn't hear the part where you said it's a transmitter :p I'm pretty new so I'm learning still.
good sound design really helps with the cinematic visuals
Facts.
What’re you using for haze on the nighttime interior shots?
Intro was crazy 👍
One of your best videos yet! Just can you clarify, that is a dji focus motor, and can you rely on the LIDAR system to keep you in focus instead of using the monitor? Ready to pull the trigger on the LIDAR system for the blazar lenses. 😊
It was the Tilta wireless focus system. I wouldn’t trust lidar for stuff like this unless I was able to
Keep a close eye on it. Lidar works great if you have someone to operate it still.
I noticed to have the nano 2. I’ve been having a problem with mine when I initially calibrate. The motor keeps on turning and just grinds against the grip of the lens and doesn’t turn the other way to fully calibrate. Any ideas of why this is?
Any advice for daytime outdoor locations, what should we be aware of?
Same thing. Try to compose from the shadow side. If there’s no shadows, then roll with it anyways and try to play with composition and layers.
I don't shoot video but man this was SUPER interesting!
bro... were so close to that xpro giveaway!!
Tnx bro 👊
new subscriber here, great seeing your anamorphic stuff. How are you finding the Blazar's? Is the flaring too clinical like the cheaper Anamorphics or is there more going on like the Mercury's?
The Remus are amazing. The flares aren’t as good as Mercurys but they’re a lot better than the other affordable Anamorphics
did you end up keeping the zv-e1?
This is awesome! When you're filming out and about using various practicals in hotel rooms and sources out in the street, do you worry about color temp on people's skin? I.e. is the color quality good enough and are there ever problems with banding and so on?
Not usually. I try to set my WB according to skin tones AND vibe. So if I’m under a strong tungsten street light.. I ain’t about to go to 3200K, I’ll maybe go to 4000k to keep some of the warmth. People get too crazy about WB. We ain’t shooting product, trying to tell a story.
@@cammackey Perfect, thank you!
So for most static shots you set the focus manually. Would you trust the lidar autofocus for more action style shooting?
Nope. LiDAR is great when you have an operator watching it or if you’re doing something very simple with not a lot of layers
Súper nice video! Could you make one about how you exposed all these scenes? 🙏 😅
Maybe. The thing is, it’s beyond simple brother. When outside, I expose till my highlights start to peak and then I bring it down just a little. That way I have as much dynamic range as possible. Then I lower the exposure in post. Indoors, I’m shooting in the FX3 so I jsut put it to 12,800 iso and making might highlights aren’t leaking. If the blacks peak then that’s most likely fine cause it’s a night scene. The trick is, to use light to shape the scene. Even my light in the driving scene was set to like 1%.. I just need a little to get some level on me
Much appreciated ⚡️👉⭕️REC
🤩
You sir, are the best. By the way, going to need more SLog 3 LUTs. I’m already getting questions about what I use for my colors. I send them your way..
Did you get the new film emulation ones?!
@@cammackeyDude!! Getting those RIGHT AWAY.
@@cammackey I was already using the natural film ones, just got the Roadrunner ones... can't wait to try them
@@producewithjt let me know what you think!!! Fil emulation LUTs are insanely hard to make without breaking the footage. I’ve done a crazy amount of testing but nothing is ever perfect!!
@@cammackey So far so great. Roadrunner feels more like film to me, bringing the dynamic range tighter, although "Cam Natural Film" just makes the colors explode, which I LOVE!
bro ngl i hope i run into you on a set somewhere random some day lol
🔥✅
Damn! Nice one! May I ask with which software you edit?
Davinci!
@@cammackey And where do you get stuff like Animations or lower thirds etc. from? I was using Premiere but i plan on switching. Is it worth it?
@@jonny.graphy I actually don’t use anything like that!
Haha such a great intro lol😂
I paused the video to subscribe this channel
Where did u find that TV!!!??? lol
I swear I'm hearing the tv through the video lol
You def are haha. I had to use Adobe audio AI to clean it up cause that old Tv was wrecking my mics haha
can you make a out for us Panasonic users pleaseeeeeee
What would be the complementary color lighting for darker skin people such as myself?
The same applies! Checkout Kofi’s channel, he goes more in depth on this exact topic!
@cammackey I tried finding him. Could you share a link to the video?
why not use the Surui 1.6 anamorphic that everyone else is using?
Who’s everyone else? I know a lot of people shooting with $20k lenses.. don’t buy or use something jsut because everyone else is. Nothing against the Sirui lenses, but they don’t give you that classic anamorphic look. So far the Remus are the only lenses in this price range that give that look.
@@cammackey thank you. if you could only have one, would you choose the 45, 65 or 100mm Remus? Also does it make sense to get these for Panasonic S5ii since they dont come in L mount?
@@ThatGuyOverThereWeird PL is better cause you can use them it any camera with a adapter. And can’t really answer which one to get cause idk what you shoot brutha! Personally if I had to chose one.. I’d Prbly get the 65mm and mainly use it for narrative work. I think most people just getting started would Prbly prefer the 45mm tho.
@@cammackey thanks, your work is beautiful stuff. you recommend putting a Glimmerglass filter on one of these lenses or do the have enough softness?
@@ThatGuyOverThereWeird no diffusion needed!
0:10 😅
At what point do you think DJI will just officially change their name to "DGI"?...😅
Hahahaha
I’m all about no music.
Passion kills laziness... beats being in a cubical
great stuff as usual...but the early voiceover is not clean
Thank you!!! I’m no Christopher Nolan but it’s clean enough for me 🤷🏽♂️
I think it's just some eq and limiting...@@cammackey
Yeah, anything that has Blazar Remus lenses in it is an automatic watch LOLZ
The only way to do cinematic thing after a good light and idea in mind, is push your limit in post with the fking software
Huh?
@@cammackey the way to look at cinematic is finally changing, so thanks for sure to easy life and easy software, for not fall of, I learn them as better as I can, anyway I didn’t see the video cose of time, except first minute but good job
@@MarineSwan well not exactly sure what you’re trying to say.. but if you mean capturing cinematic stories require heavy post production now.. I think that’s a silly opinion personally. I think heavy effects and such are ruining cinema.. but in a way where studios rely too heavily on it. Compared to movies like The Creator who used visual effects to help tell the story, not rely on it solely.
@@cammackey didn’t watch the creator seems boring (to me🙌), but I’m talking about the look not the visual effects you can do so much now that if someone wants can complete change the prospective of a indipendent movie and let it seems like a super blockbuster, and if someone have good taste can make unique his style that nowadays seems hard, cose everybody are coping (including meeee man) to feel right without self feelings, you have to
Be good at it is not tomorrow at least if you are a genius I’m not, don’t know you and I don’t know about your style I’m just saying. Story first of course, bye, peace, next time we will talk my leanguage I forgot eanglaus🫶🏻
Yes as you said, story first. The rest is debatable! Haha. Cheers!
this is a hollywood vlog🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dude you are using such expensive tools!
