Picture lights! You can now get picture lights that are cordless and rechargeable. I am sooo happy to have found them because my 1930s house only has a few places for plugs, and never where I want them. You attach a plate to the wall, then slide the light down into the plate. When you need to recharge, you simply slide the light out of the plate, recharge at a plug, then slide them back into the plate. Found mine on Amazon.
How long do they hold a charge? I’d like one for a bedside sconce, but I don’t want to have to charge it every day. I’m sure it’s dependent on the individual light, but if you can give me an idea, it would be helpful. Thanks.
I chose classic warm finished wood cabinets, polished travertine tiles, and oil rubbed bronze when everyone was doing white cabinets, marble and brass. (It's not even slightly "Tuscan" looking.) I just feel they are more timeless. We'll see.
Love your take on what’s happening in 2023. I’m old so I’ve seen so many iterations of old to new. I’m with you on have what you like and don’t fall into changing every year. I have furniture from the mid 40s through 2022, all in different spaces of course, but I know what I like and invest in it. This was per your standard a great video.☀️
I love texture, but I don't want textural surfaces, even handmade or natural, in my kitchen because of my hygiene concerns. It looks like hidey holes to grow bacteria. But if you don't cook maybe it's not a problem.
I recently got a vintage runner for my powder bathroom and it changed everything in the best way. It's so unique and beautiful and one I know I'll be keeping for a very long time.
I just had Tah Mahal quartzite counters with a leathered finish installed andi LOVE them. I wanted marble but knew that stains would bother me. I’m doing zellige tiles as a backsplash. I thought about the tiles a lot and I’m still a bit nervous because I know they are trendy but I really love that handmade glazed look with the matte, leathered countertops.
I like that you mention expense, practicality and comfort in your videos. Trends are ok, but living with them may not be. The best design for me is one that I can enjoy for a long time and that brings me comfort. Thank you.
Love the part about runners! When we redid the floors in our front entryway, I said that we needed a runner with greenish blue in it, and my mom was all "There's nothing greenish-blue in this hall, there's nothing at all here!" And I said, "But we have a greenish-blue sofa." And we ended up with a matching runner in the kitchen (covering a cushy stand-on mat, that we kept tripping over), and it not only pulls the three spaces together, by enlarging the kitchen mat visually it made it much safer. (And cleaner, since the runners are washable.)
Love your channel Garrett!!💕 I personally am not a fan of overly designed spaces. It’s hard to put my finger on what I mean by that. I don’t like gimmicks in design. I don’t particularly like when people place random chochkies everywhere. I appreciate old books on shelves, if you actually read the books, not just because the color matches. I love a great picture on the wall if you can tell me who took the picture, where you were on your travels when you bought it, or if it has some personal significance to you. I love when a designer can create a space that gives the appearance that the homeowner is effortlessly fashionable and has curated items over many years. Like the person naturally gravitates towards beautiful items and when they get home it is placed in their space in a way that doesn’t feel staged. I guess what I am trying to say, is a space for me, must give off an aurora of authenticity. That to me is evidence of a very talented designer.
Great to hear what interior designers are loving in 2023, but it is better to hear your honest take on these new looks. PS: I love your new couch 🛋. It looks stunning 🤩 and it looks like the boys like it too! Keep up the great videos Garrett, Thank you 😊 🥰🤗🇨🇦
oooh tell us all your secrets next video can't wait!! herringbone floors are so heavenly. And while I love stonework, those tiles were so pretty. I'm with you on the lighting though: sconces yes, soupcans on your ceiling - not as compelling.

It's easy to become obsessed with a particular pattern/color/style and overdo and/or not think it through. So excellent point re: the herringbone floors. You do cover all subjects beautifully, Garrett. Great presentations! Thank you!
One really popular thing to do that I won't do is the waterfall countertop effect. It feels like a little too much of a good thing, but my real reason is that I would be chipping/damaging it when I vacuum! I know I would be all nicked up in less than a month :-) I can only imaging the damage that would be done by little children in their rolling ride in car type toys.
I would love more on runners and how to coordinate vintage rugs throughout my home. I’m not a fan of the soup can lights, but then again, in my home, I don’t like pot lights in general. I see them as a necessary evil in my laundry room and bathroom. Thank you for another great video!

I went with the bedrosian tile in white Chloe in my new kitchen. I absolutely love it with my white quartz countertops. It wasn’t cheap but not nearly as expensive as the zellige tiles.
Thank you for your honesty. I also dislike can lights, always have. Runners are great. It's funny how styles always come back. I have been into style and architecture since very young. We are on the "home stretch" in building our new house, so I have had so many good ideas from you.. thank you! It is a big job to take all these decisions of what goes where in a new house, even though we designed the house ourselves. I really appreciate your inputs from the programs. By the way, I also love natural brass taps, and we have that in one of our bathrooms.. I look forward to polishing it, it looks sooo beautiful. Lots of hugs from us in Sweden!
I really enjoyed the section about runners. If you weeks ago I purchased a lovely two runner for my foyer. It has a vintage pattern with more contemporary colors. I chose it to work with tbd colors in the oil painting that hangs on the wall to its left. It makes my foyer look happy.
Hi from Aus The thing I've seen with interiors that's becoming a big style tend is Large Scale Pieces like the bold block colour modular lounges larger out door settings and big dining tables that dominate a space but also add space for guests.
Agree- not a fan of protruding can lights. That looks seems to more of an art installation in a small finite space- wherein the lights themselves contribute to the design
I had not seen the soup can style lights before, and hope that they don’t catch on. Thanks for another fun video and I love your new couch; the colour is perfect.
I have canned liighting in my house, i replaced the bulbs with smart bulbs. Now i have the benefits of LED temp color adjustment without the negatives of the flush lighting
I like oil-rubbed bronze, but on modern fixtures I'm meh on it. If the fixtures look antique, I like it better. My preference for metals these days is unlacquered brass that takes on that great patina. I'm a fan of herringbone patterns in wood, I have to admit I adore those old wood floors that have a border pattern. It does break up that effect of blending one room into another which helps with small rooms, but I can't talk myself out of this one. I love all your videos and have recommended you to other friends who like interior design and I talk about you all the time when I'm talking about decorating my new apartment when I move!
TIMERS!! In the Year of the Lamp and Accent Lighting, Timers to automatically turn on and off is what I am hearing about, smart bulbs or traditional plug in timers gives us our nightly light show 😂. Love the new sofa Garrett ❤❤❤❤
Such an interesting video, Garrett! Thank you for discussing these designer loves for 2023! I have some oil-rubbed bronze lamps and other pieces, and I'm thrilled they are "in" again! Your new couch IS STUNNING!!! OMG! The color, the style, EVERYTHING! I hear your voice everytime I shop or plan to upgrade my space. WWGD? What Would Garrett Do??? Love that for me!!! 🤗🥰🤗 Colleen
@14:24, Great! Now I have to dust the matte black tube ceiling lights every week? Hard "No". Also, I don't care what designers like. I like what I like but inspiration comes in all forms.✌
When you do the video on runners, can you add in runners on stairs?? We have wooden stairs and would like to add this but not sure how to do it? Solid color, design, loud and bold, soft and muted??? Looking forward to your advice.
I’m big on lighting. We have a lot of art so I’ve always used picture lights. We still have two eyeball lights in our family room aimed at my fireplace that we never got around to changing but I don’t mind them, but those soupcan lights? That’s a no for me! Big fan of runners. I have one in my kitchen that matches our family room rug to tie the color scheme together. I don’t follow trends, just decorate in colors that make me happy. Really enjoying your channel! ❤
Thanks so much for sharing Diane! I'm glad you are enjoying. Please take a moment to support the channel if you haven't already, and join our valued subscriber family. :)
Love handmade or stone looking tiles!! No soup can lights for me. But in my home the dog will hang out on the couch. Ha 🐕Wedgwood blue is gorgeous! First thing I noticed was how well it ties in with the wooden furniture. As always, love your videos.
So I actually love the soupcan lights and I think it would work in my kitchen where I have 3 electrical boxes on the ceiling, so m a fan of urban farmhouse and I plan on painting the cupboards a darker shade, I will then decide on the colour of fixtures, my only reserve is that it will not give off enough light as my current track lighting, my ceilings are low so I can’t hang pendants which I would love to do 😪
My old house had the oil rubbed bronze and beige walls. I ran far away from that in my new home lol. The builder grade copy and paste designs really know how to ruin a good thing
Great video and beautiful new couch! I don't know how you manage the dog hair with three dogs. I have two dogs and a parrot and vacuums are a decorative element in my house, ha, I don't even bother hiding them. Thanks for another great video!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you are enjoying our videos. Please take a moment to support our work and channel if you haven't already, and become a very valued subscriber.
You’ve given me such an ego boost today with this video. Obviously, we can’t have it all, but it’s nice to know my instincts were right, and that I have good taste. Hurray for the home team.
Great video as always. For the low back sofas, love love love yours. I would suggest to also have a higher back sofa if you receive guests in that area, in case they require the support.
Because lighting should be layered. There are times you do need more light which flush mount lighting is helpful for. I mention frequently in my videos layering lighting, and having at least three sources of lighting in a space not counting natural light. I just believe lamps are a big part of that process.
I'm so sad I couldn't afford quartzite when we did our kitchen over in 2021. Funny 🤣 I changed all of the hardware in my house to oil rubbed bronze in 2021 as well.
I inherited oil rubbed bronze in the house I"m in right now and I figured I'd just roll with it because it'll come back around. Also, what's here is on the more classic modern side (not super Tuscany looking). Also, I love those tiles! #goals
I must have a surface that is not fragile. I agree there is nothing nicer than a beautiful marble- however, the only thing that would catch my eye is a stain or defect. In this day and age -why hasn’t someone produced a non porous seal for marble?
Love, love your new sofa, at one point in my life I had my living room all done in midnight blue and white, I still have my porcelain blue and white collection but that is all, mine was a camel back couch and rolled up arms, for the last 14 years my couches are white, tuxedo style with duck cotton sleep covers, ( they get washed twice a year ), no problems with pups on the couch but your new one is just beautiful and love that the pups can play there...soup cans on the ceiling?...nope, not for me...still love marble and real stone, have them in my kitchen and bathrooms and not going to change them...thanks for another great video
Nice sofa! And glad your little ones like it too! It's a 'no' from me as well on the 'soup tin' lights. I've never been a great fan of recessed lights either. I've lived in several places that have had them and the bulbs are always a nightmare to change, for some reason. You fight for 10 minutes to get the fitting open. Then you get a face full of dead bugs. Then you switch out the bulbs and spend another 10 minutes trying to get the fitting back in again. Eventually it stays without falling out, but you're never quite sure whether you've put it back in properly or not. I don't mind a few of them in strategic places where a normal light fixture isn't possible, e.g. in alcoves, rooms with very low ceilings etc., but they can look cheap and institutional if overused in other spaces.
Another fabulous video. Thank you for linking your sofa. I am in the process of looking for a new one and I found exactly what I want on Kardiel -new to me I never heard of Kardiel-YAY! so excited. Thank you for such great content and like you im sticking with my natural marble, the maintenance is not a big deal for me. Wish you out out a video everyday you are that good.
That’s a beautiful couch you got. I love cool lamps and light fixtures, but not those soup cans. Then again, I’ve never liked can lights. When we built our house last year, the builder was talking about putting in can lights and was a little startled when I said, “No! No can lights! I hate them!”
I've been binge watching your videos, so now I'm subscribed and notified! We're building a house and mixing styles (traditional with Scandinavian kitchen) and I love that for me! It's going to be fantastic! Keep the videos coming! Love you, Garrett!
Awesome! Thank you! I'm glad you have been enjoying. Welcome to the channel Diane. It's great to have you as part of our very valued subscriber family. :)
Hi Garrett, thanks for another video. I enjoy and learn from each one. I'm just wondering what you think about bed skirts? I don't have one, because it accumulates too much dust. I understand the bed looks more put together and elegant, but I rather have a clean environment under my bed. Am I wrong? By the way, great idea to include the angels in fur coats, that is what I call them, in each video. Blessings.
My pleasure! I would prefer beautiful bed frames be used, but I'm not opposed to a bedskirt to hide an unsightly bed frame. You are correct in that they are dust collectors. I don't use them because I want to display my bed frames. :)
I LOVE your new sofa, I didn’t see any little white hairs when Linus jumped off😊 . I’m thinking of changing out my “eyeball” ceiling lights, but I don’t know about those “soup cans”. I’ll have to see what other options I have.
Thanks so much Susan! Yeah the dogs don't really go any furniture on a regular basis. What they do love is hanging out with us on a rug and blanket and cuddling.
Been living with oil rubbed bronze door handles for over a year now, and still in love with it. I am with you on the quartzite, love my real marble "things" , and lovingly tolerating my "marble look" quartz in kitchen and bath areas due to the easy maintenance. Not a fan of the glazed tiles, but great for those who do though, because it's their house not mine, LOL. Runners in kitchen and bath, yes to that! It was so much fun selecting my floor art, and really added functionality (for feet) , and really added something visually interesting to those areas. Enjoyed it as usual today, and see ya in the next one! 🍸😊
Wonderful video. So informative! I didn’t know about most of these new features, and your pros and cons plus descriptions of your personal taste would be excellent for someone considering any of them. Someone trying to sell you any would not (necessarily) tell you all of this information!
Glad it was helpful! Please take a moment to support the channel if you haven't already, and become one of our very valued subscribers. I appreciate it.
I would have a professional stone cleaning and repair company come to your home and look at the counter to see what can be done, and also how they can help you protect them going forward.
Quartzite lovely but I like the marble counter with marble tile backsplash, better. Love oil rubbed bronze though I do love brass and chrome better as well. Love those tiles, but will they end up dated in 5 years? Ty for another fantastic video Garrett! 🐶
Hello 👋 I’m all for the sconces I actually ordered two that don’t require hard wiring which is a game changer when you have concrete walls that can be a nightmare to hard wire 😬 I also love me a good runner for the kitchen they just add that perfect pop of color. Loving your new sofa very nice. As always thank you for your fabulous interior design content 😊
I agree, not a fan of the “soup can lights” Also, I know those square tiles are “in” But I still prefer subway I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again As for your sofa, it’s beautiful !
I like the short black flush mounted ones, but just a few for effect. I didn’t like the pic with 9 it looked like a domino 😂. I also didn’t like the full soup can in white. Yuck. I am thing the recessed can light is over but where do we go from here? I’m with you on lamps and sconces, lots of creativity in lighting I say 😊. Ha, I bought a house from 1980 with external can lights that look like mini spotlights from a movie set. 😮😮There are 8 of them in the great room of this house and I am getting rid of them. I should send you a pic Garrett and see what you think, chic or icky.?
I love the natural tiles - any idea where to get nice ones? Not feeling the oil rubbed bronze. Also love sconces and picture lights! How do you avoid getting "the next subway tile" so that what you use doesn't become a cliche in a few years?
I don't think subway tile is a cliche, and believe people should focus on what makes them happy. Personally, I think chasing trends results in more chiches in the long run.
Not a huge fan of the “soup can” fixtures or herringbone floors. I like simple flooring options that are clean and don’t look so busy. Just my opinion. I love runners! They can really dress up a hallway and a kitchen. Such an easy way to make a cool color statement in an otherwise under decorated spot. I also LOVE your new sofa! It’s beautiful! Thanks again for another great video. I so look forward to your posts. So much fun and so interesting, thanks Garrett!
Omg lovely- if you sit upright on your sofa how do you binge watch anything? Don’t tell me you have…. a….life? The rest of us need to binge. Adore you!
Yes another tip…. Move the runner to the hall ❤ thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks.
@@LesaBear612 Mine are good for 2-3 weeks, I turn them on for an hour or so every other evening depending on when I'm relaxing in the living room.
Great to know, thanks!

I chose classic warm finished wood cabinets, polished travertine tiles, and oil rubbed bronze when everyone was doing white cabinets, marble and brass. (It's not even slightly "Tuscan" looking.) I just feel they are more timeless. We'll see.
Quartzite depends on the literal piece on how porous some are much much stronger than granite I’m building a home and bought several slabs.

Lovely.
Love handmade or stone looking tiles!! No soup can lights for me. But in my home the dog will hang out on the couch. Ha 🐕Wedgwood blue is gorgeous! First thing I noticed was how well it ties in with the wooden furniture. As always, love your videos.
Sounds great! Thanks so much. :)
I think crown molding and anything built in like book cases are trending right now and I love them !
Agreed! I love them too. :)
Loving your inspiration
😊😊😊
Great video and beautiful new couch! I don't know how you manage the dog hair with three dogs. I have two dogs and a parrot and vacuums are a decorative element in my house, ha, I don't even bother hiding them. Thanks for another great video!
Thanks so much Shelby!
As always you deliver great information. Thanks for the education.
Hugs to your fur babies. 🐕 🐕
Thank you! Very kind of you. 🐶🐶🐶

You’ve given me such an ego boost today with this video. Obviously, we can’t have it all, but it’s nice to know my instincts were right, and that I have good taste. Hurray for the home team.
Hi Garrett! You and your new sofa are both looking gorgeous! Love your enthusiasm and honesty. Take good care 💖✨
Thanks so much! 😊
Great video as always. For the low back sofas, love love love yours. I would suggest to also have a higher back sofa if you receive guests in that area, in case they require the support.
Thanks so much! We do have other seating in the space.😊😊😊
Why have a flush mounted light fixture in the year of the lamp? :P
Because lighting should be layered. There are times you do need more light which flush mount lighting is helpful for. I mention frequently in my videos layering lighting, and having at least three sources of lighting in a space not counting natural light. I just believe lamps are a big part of that process.
@@GarrettLeChic Sorry Garrett, I was trying to make a joke about your prediction that this is the year of the lamp. (Which I love!)
The light behind you in your video is so beautiful, your new bIue sofa too. :)
Thank you!
I'm so sad I couldn't afford quartzite when we did our kitchen over in 2021. Funny 🤣 I changed all of the hardware in my house to oil rubbed bronze in 2021 as well.
Sounds nice! I’d like that. Sorry about the quartzite though. 😊😊😊
I inherited oil rubbed bronze in the house I"m in right now and I figured I'd just roll with it because it'll come back around. Also, what's here is on the more classic modern side (not super Tuscany looking). Also, I love those tiles! #goals
Sounds like a plan! Trends come and go. What matters is what you like.
Love the video ❤ NO NO NO to the soup can lights! 😂 please do new kitchen trends and colour and your recommendations on the subject ! 😊
Thanks Betty! Glad you enjoyed. :)
I must have a surface that is not fragile. I agree there is nothing nicer than a beautiful marble- however, the only thing that would catch my eye is a stain or defect. In this day and age -why hasn’t someone produced a non porous seal for marble?
Love the custom blue sofa!
Thank you!
Thanks so much Maria! I'm glad you like the sofa. :)
"2023 is the year of the lamp"🛋️🖤
Loved todays video! I love your blue couch! I recently purchased a blue couch as well. Great minds….!
Yay! Thank you!
Always so practical.
Thank you!
Just finally received my runner for my entryway! Looking forward to getting everything set up in there. Looking forward to the next Lechic video!
Yay! Happy for you. Next video Sunday 9am PST.🤗🤗🤗
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed Ana. 🤗🤗🤗
That’s a beautiful couch you got. I love cool lamps and light fixtures, but not those soup cans. Then again, I’ve never liked can lights. When we built our house last year, the builder was talking about putting in can lights and was a little startled when I said, “No! No can lights! I hate them!”
Thanks so much!
Yay! Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for sharing Karen. :)
Great wonderful whatever
Let's just admit that Linus probably goes where ever he wants just like my pets. He's too cute to deny him that couch 🥰
Wonderful video. So informative! I didn’t know about most of these new features, and your pros and cons plus descriptions of your personal taste would be excellent for someone considering any of them. Someone trying to sell you any would not (necessarily) tell you all of this information!

Hi Garrett. Any suggestions for how to remove water rings from a quartzite counter top? Thank you.
I would have a professional stone cleaning and repair company come to your home and look at the counter to see what can be done, and also how they can help you protect them going forward.
@@GarrettLeChic sounds good, thx!
Quartzite lovely but I like the marble counter with marble tile backsplash, better. Love oil rubbed bronze though I do love brass and chrome better as well. Love those tiles, but will they end up dated in 5 years? Ty for another fantastic video Garrett! 🐶
Who knows? Trends come and go. I think what's most important is having what you love.
My pleasure! New video today as well.
Great video as usual. Where is the new blue sofa from? Can u pls share.
Thanks so much! It's a Soriana. :)
I agree, not a fan of the “soup can lights” Also, I know those square tiles are “in” But I still prefer subway I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again
As for your sofa, it’s beautiful !
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing!
me neither, I have a small home in UK and I feel herringbone would make the space look smaller and busier.
Omg lovely- if you sit upright on your sofa how do you binge watch anything? Don’t tell me you have…. a….life? The rest of us need to binge. Adore you!
Thanks so much! We are very comfortable on it. :)
