      The truth is agent and broker are the same. Broker’s just have authority and are allowed to offer many different insurance companies/plans. An agent may be independent or captive which means they are employed for a company and can only offer what the company offers and the captive agent may or may not have a salary and benefits/bonuses and/or commissions.

    • @jacklevenson5378
      @jacklevenson5378 Год назад +9

      Depends on if you’re a broker (agent) or carrier (insurance provider). Brokers get paid less in wages but can get varying commissions based on the company they work for. Underwriters (the agent that works for the provider) get paid higher salaries, but don’t receive commission on deals- they can be rewarded through bonuses, however.
      Also, it’s important to know that the type of insurance (health, life, property/casualty, auto, etc.) doesn’t necessarily equate to higher or lower pay. It all depends on the firm you work for and your position in the company, just like most other jobs.
      TLDR: Life insurance doesn’t necessarily pay more than other parts of the insurance industry!

      @user-ch9ng5mz9zhi a broker is simply an insurance agent who sells policies for several different insurance carriers…. In other words they’re independent agents
      I don’t understand your second question
      Regarding your last question, that just depends on where you’re located. I’d advise you to take an insurance class before you go take the exam for your license however. You should be able to find insurance classes in your area by getting on google and searching “insurance classes near me” ,there’s also a lot of insurance classes online

      Probably not. More than likely referring to the process of taking his courses, taking his exam, and waiting to get his license. You don’t have to be “trained,” to call yourself a broker. You would just be a broker who’s extremely green, and generally, training is an on going thing.

    • @nicoleayala4153
      @nicoleayala4153 Год назад +5

      The general process is finding classes for your State. It’s usually either a 16 hour (2-8hr classes) webinar or classroom session. From there you have to pass an exam provided by the company you took classes with to receive your certificate. With that you have a year to take the state exams, pass, and apply for your license. I believe the recommended study time (not sure if it’s the same in every state) is about 40 hours before taking the state exam.

    • @brendanboiyo
      @brendanboiyo Год назад +5

      @@elitescarecrowgaming4713 similar to what Nicole said, it’s very simple. For me, I paid for my courses (mine were less than $50), it was an online course where you watch videos, do some reading, do quizzes and practice tests. After you’ve gone through all the content and completed it, you can schedule a test to do your exam. Upon passing, you can apply for your license. My courses took me a few weeks and that was while working full time among other things. License took about a month because MI was very behind.
