I honestly grew up in my local library. I have vivid memories of sitting on the floor next to the bookshelves looking for the newest book in my favourite series. It was like a second home for me. I rlly miss it *sigh* 😕

Thank you for this wonderful “date”, it totally brightened my day. I had a “wake up call” yesterday, a face paralysis. Everything’s fine. I’m telling this because the combination of pandemic stress + work and family issues resulted in this. If you overwork your dough it creates more gluten which makes the bread, cake, or whatever you're making hard in texture and it's not fluffy anymore. Loved the date, thanks for the flowers 🥰

From having a weird fixation with Food Network as a youth (my choice for some reason?!) I have a tip that is stuck in my head about overmixing.
I just remember them saying over and over again that you mix until the ingredients are fully incorporated, then stop mixing.
If you stir and see flour or egg or whatever else that isnt fully mixed in or if your mixture isn't one (can see separation) then keep mixing until you don't see either of those things anymore.

I’m Canadian and when the pandemic started last year I was kicked out of where I was living. I ended up flying out to Eugene to stay with my now husband for 6 months. While I was there I discovered that same song. I had to return to Canada a few months ago and that song always puts me right back to my time there.

Just a small tip, from what I know of cooking, if they ever say you shouldn't over mix or work something, it means you should just mix it until all the elements are combined but no further. If you work a dough with flour you start developing gluten which is great for bread, but not as good for other kind of cooking like cake
