I just learn that this interpretation is the ONLY one done on TV by Balavoine as he die soon after...
Omg I am so sorry for that.
This is my favorite version. I discovered the song because of Dimash but I recognize the master here.
hello! i'm french, i want say that daniel is a man that nobody in france can forget just a man ... a hero...
Dimash sings the song, Balavoine sings and feels the song and it is a huge difference
Ah... Ouf. Merci.
I will add one more name - Norman Groulx - sings the aria, feels the aria, lives the aria. ❣️
The differenece between Dimash and Daniel is emotions. Dimash is only technical Daniel is technical and emotional
Dimash can share emotional very well, but his performance about techniques generally.
Dimash evolved a lot since his first performance tho 👍
I like Dimash but in French he is only making sounds that vaguely ressemble the original words. You can't understand or distinguish any word. So yes I agree, he focuses a lot on technique, on making it sounds nice rather than right.
its not emotion, his face and eyes shows he is struggling to hit the note
Thank you from France for Daniel Balavoine
Huge performance for Dimash...
...but for me, same as you 👏
all the real emotions are in the original french version : for(ever) and by, the fabulous Daniel BALAVOINE 😉
for a French at least with balavoine we understand the lyrics ^^ because at times dimash sings yogurt
I heard Dimash singing this song. It's seem to me like an athletic performance... but without any feeling, nor expressions. Such as a robot wins a 100 m race, without pain and understanding. I know french is not his mother language, and that was obvious. With Daniel Balavoine, you can feel the pain, the sadness.
Exactly! Dimash is so cold he just sing very well but Balavoine share something very intense from his soul. So beautyfull
Dimash sings like a robot! Are you seriously! Nobody sings as emotionally as Dimash! At his concerts, people cry, he is very emotional. Only a deaf and soulless person cannot feel it !!!
@@tatianafrenkiel9846 After loving and feeling all what Balavoine express in this French song i'm sorry but listenning Dimash singing it sound like a robot to me. Of course i admit he have an incredible voice but honestly i can't hear it. To me it's so far from Balavoine's humanity
@@tatianafrenkiel9846 Hi, I am French speaking and I do not understand a word of what Dimash is saying in this song. He himself does not know what he is singing exactly. So yes, he sings well, but the tone isn't really there. That said, I still find he has a hell of a talent.
@@IJayReaction I'm agree that they're techniques are not comparables. XD But sincerely, as a french native person... Dimash don't respect tempo of the song. He have just a incredible range of voice. He cannot even say correctly the lyrics -_- TT
Du Portugal 🇵🇹🇵🇹 j'adore balavoine. Un grand chanteur avec de grandes chansons.
Daniel is eternal, miss him so much
The performance of Dimash is a demonstration of vocal techniques, but the song itself is lost. This performance is exactly the performance of a wonderful song. And to be honest, I like it better.
We shouldn't oppose or compare both Balavoine and Dimash. Balavoine wanted to deliver an emotion when the intention of Dimash is to deliver an impressive technical performance. Both incredibly succeeded.
Dimash performs. Daniel feels. Huge difference…
Daniel Balavoine played a "rebel" character in starmania. Michel Berger and his wife France Gall (who also played in starmania) were really good friends of Daniel. Michel composed the music to match with his unconventional voice.
Starmania is more than 40 years old but all the original topics are pretty actual. (power of money, nature destruction, human destruction despair and violence...
In S. O. S. D'un terrien en détresse, the character loosed his love. She died and with her, his little light in the darkness, so he wanted to die . The song started at that point.
Just a small correction. This aria was not a death aria in the 1979 show. It was in the middle of the show, representing the existential reflections of Johnny Rockfort. It was moved towards the end in 1980, the second production of Starmania (Quebec) where it was performed by Johnny Rockfort (Robert Leroux) over the dead body of Cristal. It has been like that since as we have seen in the theatrical performances by Norman Groulx (86, 88), Bruno Pelletier (93), Etienne Dupuis (opera), and even the current one. ✨
Daniel sang with his heart, he even sang "partir avant les miens "(leave before mine) just before his disappearance!!
And even though his voice covered 7 octaves he lived his words and his emotions!! you have to listen to his albums!!! He was a great man, humanist, rebellious, tender and concerned about the future
The level of bass playing is through the roof on this one.
Curiosity is proof of wiseness and intelligence. Thank you for listening to the original song after hearing Dimash's performance.
Thanks for talking about Balavoine emotional interpretation, indeed strong bond between lyrics and his singing
Dimash has the fantastic vocal range, but Daniel sings out of his heart.
You should hear the version of Grégory Lemarchal which was a big a vocal performance for him, he had cystic fibrosis when he sang SOS d'un terrien en détresse
Lot of kisses from France, and thank you for Daniel balavoine. ..
Balavoine had the voice and the feelings. This song is not only a vocal piece of heart, it also need to understand and feel the lyrics. That’s why he did the best interpretation. A young french singer did also an impressive one, Grégory Lemarchal. He also understood the true meaning of the lyrics. He was ill and died a few years after.
Please more Balavoine! :) Thank you and love from France!
For me (as french) Dimash performed this song perfectly, but it was a technical perfect, not an emotional perfect. It’s just a little thing but for french people Dimash performance was not understanding, I mean that we couldn’t understand well the lyrics and it’s a song that french people likes a lot. If you want to to try another version of this song I suggest you the version of Gregory Lemarchal who, like Daniel Balavoine, sadly died too young
I think you have a great idea in giving a short biography of the singer - it means we can get down to the real comments without hearing the biography from so many people, me included !!!!
Une vraie merveille chantée par Daniel Balavoine ... 💎💙💎💙💎💙
thank you! the best version of this immortal song, everything goes in the voice and the way of singing of daniel balavoine! I believe that in 1979 during the performances of starmania, his voice was even more powerful in the highs.
you should listen to 'tous les cris les sos' a marvel!
Canada should not forget its own grand Artist from Quebec - Norman Groulx ♥️ the one whom Michel Berger, the composer and a big friend of Daniel Balavoine, embraced in the role of Johnny Rockfort. Norman Groulx is not just singing SOS, he is living it. And makes you live through it.
you should also check the version made by "gregory Lemarchal", it's very emotional too, maybe the most out of the three because it pretty much him speaking about his life. He sadly died very young from cystic fibrosis and he had the voice of an angel wich is even more impressive considering his condition.
Daniel Balavoine version is very intense, Gregory Lemarchal was comparably intense, the rest is technically pretty.....
unbelievable performance from the great Peter Kingsbury as well.
One of the first "Cyberpunk" story.
ruclips.net/video/fSK-xi4qmDw/видео.html
Norman Groulx ♥️♥️♥️ the most poignant for me
Don’t give up! I’ve known this song and Starmania all my life…. Could have been written last week. It’s deeply sad, but sometimes, it’s just what you need to reconcile you with life, the honesty of a sad emotion. Great gateway to French music. ;)
thank for react to this song i always love to listen it
Hahaha I love how he pronounces "Michel Berger" : MICHAEL BURGER XDD
His real name was Michel Hamburger. So not that inaccurate lol.
Hello Ijay, I have just discovered your channel. Daniel Balavoine brought me here, I am glad you liked his voice and his performance. Thank you for adding subtitles to your videos, it is essential for those who do not understand the French language. And congratulations on getting started in French yourself, your pronunciation is really good. Here are a few suggestions for learning French while singing (try those in order, they get progressively more ‘difficult’ although they are beginners’ level):
Philippe Katerine ‘Les premiers seront les derniers’
Amadou et Mariam ‘Je pense à toi’
Clara Luciani ‘La baie’
Nino Ferrer ‘Les cornichons’ (for when you get around to learning the names of food stuff)
Zazie ‘20 ans’
France Gall ‘La déclaration d’amour’
Rita Mitsouko ‘Andy’
Étienne Daho et Charlotte Gainsbourg ‘If’
Francis Cabrel ‘Répondez-moi’
Different times, different styles. I hope you will enjoy your journey with a new language. Bonne route !
You have to listen " Tous les cris les SOS" from Daniel Balavoine.
It such a beautuful music
You should check his "very own" songs, he did another 'SOS', in "Tous les cris les SOS"... He's gone too soon but wrote and interpreted some gems... "Lucie" and "Lady Marlene" to name two others.
Bonjour !
good react. thank's to listening to french singer. balavoine he's great. another song ritten by her : "tous les cris les sos ". sorry for my anglais. kiss from france. coco
Nice reaction 😃. To add more context to the song, in the show Daniel's character "Johnny Rockfort" (Johnny Hardrock in EN), about to let himself arrested, holds in his arms the dead body of his loved one who just got shot by fascist militians. So with all respects due to Dimash awesome technical talent, I don't think how he (probably was told to) sang it in such a watch-me-how-I-can-sing-with-cool-twists-and-effects way was very appropriate, and I totally understand why only the people who don't know the song aren't pissed 😂 Maybe he didn't know any context about the song, I'm not blaming him that much, if someone was to blame it would be his coach for misdirecting him.
Song from the musical Starmania, written by Michel Berger and Luc Plamandon from Québec.
Yes it's Rights for Luc Plamondon from Québec . Canada . Merci . Thank you 🤘
There is an English version called Only the very best by Peter Kingsberry which is incredible.
As a Canadian, you already have the most beautiful french songs you could ever find... Céline Dion, Ginette Reno, Gilles Vigneault....
You are absolutely right. Canadians are so famous that it is not easy to react to their videos because of Copyright😀
Le "Mykel Burger" au lieu de Michel Berger.. ça m'a achevé ^^
Hello from south France, New subscriber here. Nice reaction my Canadian friend. :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🌺
Merci beaucoup.
so great
Formidable !!! ❣❣❣❣❣❣❣❣❣❣
Lartiste : WHITNEY RENOIS
" MINUIT CHRÉTIEN "
j'aime le générique 😉
very nice
Good job guy
Singing in French is very difficult and even for french people...
Dimesh used this song instead of serving it... Because he has not the maturity and doesn't understand what he is singing... So, emotion for me is not there. It's impressive and likable but not touching me, when Balavoine delivers it perfectly and means every word. Thank you for this video 🙂👍
" Michael Burger " XD
👍🙏
Ooo waww
Grégory Lemarchal's version in the Star Academy show is out of this world. He had cystic fibrosis (and died at 23 😢) so the meaning and emotions from him singing that song is really something else
Et Peter Kingsbery en anglais aussi 🙏❤️
@@TheLiliblond only the very best ❤ quelle voix
It’s about emotions and subject matter. I have absolutely nothing against Dimash. First, I wish I could sing half as well at him. Second, thanks to him it seems that people are discovering French classics. Now, a lot of French songs are story based. So technically speaking, Dimash’s voice is amazing; on the other hand, his pronunciation is not great and as the song goes on entire phrases sound like scrambled eggs so you lose the story and it’s meaning and the emotional connection( and it’s not a dig. I’ve lived in England for nearly 30 years now and although I speak clearly and fluently, I still have my French accent). This song is about a young man contemplating suicide. The text, the metaphors are not just beautiful and melodic, they convey deep turmoil. If they are inaudible, it just becomes a ( beautiful) technical exercise. Lara Fabian is not a French national but she speaks French so she understands each word she’s singing. So when she sings Serge Lama’s “Je suis malade” it’s just stunning and deeply moving. Perfect vocal technique meets storytelling. She breathes and modulates her voice according to the text. Serge Lama wrote it about the end of his own secret, impossible relationship (the song is 47 years old now!). Yet it looks like Lara is sharing her own story. And most listeners assume so. If you look closely, at the end of the live performance that seems to be circulating the most, when the songs end and people are clapping, she remains in the moment.
Michel Burger ????? Don't know But Michel Ber-gé c'est fort possible 😛
Thank you for this reaction !
Hi Ij
2 suggestions à propos de Balavoine
- "Pour la femme veuve qui s'éveille"
- "Dieu que c'est beau"
For me,Daniel Balavoine was the french Peter Gabriel ... Another great great Artist !!!
Mickael Burger ??? :p
Marine Delplace is my fav.
Hello from france and thank you for this reaction.
If you like great songs with epic musicians, deep lyrics and goosebump-inducing vocals, you should try the band Nightwish. They have a "holy trilogy" of songs : Ghost Love Score / The Poet and the Pendulum / The Greatest Show on Earth, but it's better to start with other songs and know the band first, to fully understand the lyrics of those (especially for Poet). A good starting point would be their covers of Phantom of the Opera or High Hopes but any other song is ok, they nave NO bad song, just be sure to find official live videos (with subtitles if possible).
Just a personnal advice, as Scar said to the hyenas : BE PREPARED ;) because this band is a rabbit hole, when you experience their music, there is no turning back, and the Nightwish Army (of fans) will invade your channel. Once you post your first reaction, our general Gabriel will find you and send you all the information you need. I hope you'll enjoy the ride :)
Michael 🍔 ? 😂😂😂
,❤️❤️🖤❤️❤️🖤💛❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Please try to react to other french song. You already know it worth it. 👍
If you loved sos react to all the starmania song
Please listen 'tous les cris les SOS' from Danie tool ....you will not regret at all.
Please, could you do a reaction video for Céline Dion and Ginette Reno- un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin . It's fantastic !!!!
Thank you so much for your react !
Try to pronounce Michel Berger name more like Ber-je (as the beginning of Jerry, well only kind of, but still more recognisable this way than saying Burger...)
Don't forget Norman crouix
Michael Burger. J’ai du mal à respirer.
When he sings, his face is more about the difficulty to get the note he want than about emotions. Just saying.
No because even in his own songs (like "frappe avec ta tête" or "Revolucion") he expresses his emotions with his face, even if technically they are easier to sing. He lives his songs.
Daniel sang from his heart first. The words were second.
he was one of the greatest French singer who was assassinated by the French government following these speeches and these positions against the government and for this song like all the others he made the instrumental all the noises you hear in the song it istrain noises there is a report on that and you can see and hear how he makes these songs he was a composer performer singer producer of these albums . And in addition he was able to sing on several octaves he could sing either very acute or very serious according to his desires
Where does your accent come from? It doesn't seem Canadian to me.
I am Kurdish and I was born and raised in Iran!
