Cheers! I know they work but I’ve thrown spoons and spinners in plenty of waters that have trout and just can’t seem to get one. And yeah the scenery is just incomparable to anything I’ve seen here in aus
Hey mate, I believe someone else commented similarly and I had no idea my actions would adversely affect the fish so much. Yes dropping fish is not good and to minimise this I place my thumb under they’re gill cover when holding to give the camera a better view, though I’m certainly not pressing my thumb into their gills. Would you have any resources I could read where fish die shortly after this has occurred, or from contacting dry sand/rocks or hands?
Dropping your trout and sticking your fingers in their gills isn't great for the trout. 😢 There's a good chance they won't survive. Please learn some proper trout handling technique.
Yeah I’m never aiming to drop fish and that’s why I place fingers under the gill plates. First I’m hearing that this is potentially fatal to them though, do you have a source?
Cool video, what an amazing view to look at while you catch some quality fish!
Cheers man! Absolutely beautiful hey. Just need to get back in some warmer months and stalk them with the fly now
Mint scenery ay Miss it
Amazing catch!
Cheers mate. Was an unreal experience
Awesome video bro! Heading down there in a couple of months so wish me luck!
Cheers mate, was an unreal thing to tick off. Hopefully there’s some nice big browns and rainbows waiting for you!
The wife and I have been chatting about doing a NZ trip next - this is now on the list of things to do!
Could not recommend it more highly. Good fish with a view like this! Was incredible
A good spoon to throw for lake trout and river trout are the ZED spinner

Hands not wet, fish on the rocks and sand, fingers in gills, dropped fish. All of those fish will be dead within a day or week.

@anglinguntangled slime layer
That could be the worst handling of a trout I have ever seen. Just wow.
