@@mikkim7275 yeah I get that but you don’t know how she felt growing up without a father and constantly hearing negative things about him growing up. Knowing that he went to jail on the day she was born makes it even worse; like she wishes all her life he could’ve got his shit together to provide for her. There are a lot of jaded moments that came from years of him missing out. And, though addiction is a health issue and not a crime, she still has every right to not accept him after his failures. She’ll get there eventually to where she can say she loves him, and I can tell she still held a lot of things back in the interview for his sake, so I completely understand her side.

@@mikkim7275 Its not even that she doesn't love him. To this DAY as an adult I find it hard to say those words to some family members even though I love them very much. I am not sure why, but its a thing. All the way back from my childhood it was just impossible to say it even if someone said it to me first. Try to understand her inability to say the words as more of a mental block than her true feelings.

@@mikkim7275 Imagine growing up without your dad and the only thing you really know about him is the negative bias information you heard from your mother your whole life. Now with the opportunity to have a relationship with him, you would take it because ultimately- you WANT to love your dad, but you can't always love someone you just met, especially when you have such a negatively built perception of him. Think about that a little bit. I admire her father for respecting her honest answer the way he did.

We don't throw people in jail for 12 years for a little baggie of crack in their pocket. The people who are in jail are the people who are selling/distributing, which this man himself said he did. Because these are the people who ruin communities by getting others hooked on drugs. However if he proves to be in her life and proves himself a true father to her over time she will get there, they will get there and she will... all things take time and with time all things are possible. This one was definitely a bit heart shaking! Good episode

I feel her pain so much and I see her desperately trying to protect herself with her mask just afraid of so much on the inside, things that no one should be afraid of. There’s nothing more important than a relationship between a parent and their child, especially a father and a daughter. You can tell how beautiful she is inside and out and she just needs to be loved :,( loved this video and love that these topics are getting more recognition that they deserve.

Her dad looks like he SO wanted to hear her say "I love you"
when she couldn't, idk how he held up strong. he was 🤏 this close to crying, like hes sad for both her and himself.
I wonder how long she's been around her dad for.. she obviously cares about him. When she cried I got the sense of "i wish I could but I can't right now."
    Got me like: 🤧😢
I had a good relationship with my dad growing up. He divorced my mom when I was 17 and quickly rushed into a marriage with a woman from his childhood. My dad destroyed our relationship over that woman who came with intentions of ruining our relationship. I Didnt meet her until after they were married.. She had her own kids and wanted my dad to abandon me and my brothers completely. I hardly saw my dad for 8 years. Every time I was with him, his wife and her daughter were near and I could not even talk to my dad. The mother & daughter were always scheming behind my dads back he would work crazy hours as a truck driver making good money and when he was asleep during the day, they would steal money or go on shopping sprees with his card. They got worse and opened credit cards in his name, maxed them out, and now his credit is shot. They divorced last year. My dad was always making excuses to keep her even knowing that she was stealing money. He caught her on the phone with a man saying "I love you, babe" and that was the final straw for him 🙄.
We found out she was always trying to get with other men..flirting with men at work, and had an affair with a married man that had kids. She wanted that man to leave his family for her and he told her he wasnt gonna do that. She married the old man she was talking to after my dad divorced her (she thought he had a bunch of assets thats why she was messing around with him) apparently he doesn't have much and is a cheapskate.
I felt like a stranger when my dad was with that woman. I cried for years when he got with her. I have big trust issues with my dad after all that. My heart has become cold to him. I realized how easily he would chose a woman over his family. He is selfish, and has poor judgment.

It was traumatic for me. My dad was (and still is) like a superhero, a "jack of all trades" type... I just can't fully respect him.
I grew up as "daddies girl" im the only daughter. my mom never treated me well, so I was really attached to my dad. Had I known at a young age that my dad could betray/hurt me emotionally and become a whole stranger, I probably wouldn't have been as affected as bad. I physically became sick after confronting my dad and his wife in 2012. Depression & severe psoriasis from stress at age 19, and a year or two after I developed severe arthritis, I was around ages 20-21 I was in crippling pain, depressed, lossed appetite & lots of weight.. I had to be put on disability.
A good father is so important to have.
I would hope more people would be mindful about the partners they choose,
mindful about how their actions or choices may affect their kids.
I hope the dads (or parents in general) would teach their kids whatever skills they know.
I hope the kids (whatever age) would be strong enough to move on when parents let them down or abandon them.

My dad was also in incarcerated for a large majority of my life and was addicted to meth. Over the years his addiction ebbed and flowed. Watching this really affected me emotionally although I’m not 100 percent sure what I am feeling. I think we all want to be loved and some time it’s the most empathetic people who can’t deal with this life who turn to drugs. It’s awful that most of these people end up in the prison system. These are still beautiful, big hearted, smart people with a lot of potential. My dad died and luckily I was able to be there for the last few months of his life. My biggest fear was that he would die alone on skid row. But there is still hope for change for the millions of other people who are affected by addiction, the failures of our incarceration system and mental health care system and just plain broken hearts. I hope this little family gets to heal and my heart goes out to both of them. Stay strong. Don’t attach to emotions. Grow through them. Eat healthy. Nutrition has so much to do with mental health. Just trying to pass on what I have learned. Much love.
