I'm not in the hobby but I still love watching your videos. You're good at explaining what you're doing and it's cool to watch everything come together. Can't wait to finally see the whole planted tank in the end.
Been sick all weak and ur vids have literally gotten me through it, I've watched countless hours so thanks Joey! Long time subsicrber catching up on some older videos. And I'm 14 so ur vids are really hitting a very "all around demographic" congrats on the Channel and new tank.
Nice video Joey, but I wonder how long it will take you to show the Saltwater aquarium build if you think plants grow slow, wait until you keep corals, then you will really know what slow growth looks like LOL. Keep it up!
Oh my word. After sooo long I have just watched you build another acrylic tank!! As a taster (another one), can't wait to see the tank being set up, even though I am sure another video on building a stand will be up to your usual standards. Do I come across as a bit frustrated? Ha, SHOW ME THE TANK!!!
I just got back into the aquarium hobby and started a simple planted tank. I'm hooked and am setting up a larger tank. Thanks Joey for all the DIY projects, I'm employing them on some of the setups. You do a great job. Keep up the good work. Excited about this series!
stumbled upon this channel about a month ago and it's absolute MUST WATCH. I've binged pretty much all the vids and your evolution is truly amazing! Keep up the great work, I can't wait for part ii and hope you get back into rays soon!
Ok, this may be a stupid question that you answered long ago but I have to ask. What is your background? You've demonstrated so many skills it makes me dizzy. How did you learn all this? Your tank builds are amazing.
he writes computer code if I recall correctly. As far as where he picked up the mad skillz to do what he does.. that's a good question! I can say I really appreciate that he takes the time to put quality vids out to educate the rest of us on how we can also have awesome tanks on a budget.
haa I'm always around ~ You can join one of the plant focused FB groups; where it's easy to get fast feedback from various people. I'm more active in this particular high tech group: facebook.com/groups/259927137681824/
During all these acrylic builds, i've been wondering what happens with the cement that overflows into the inside of the tank..? Wont it melt the acrylic and create blotching?
SDD525i currently have a 10gal experiment tank with a fluorescent light which works great. But I always appreciate more information especially on lighting since it's not a topic which is covered properly on RUclips. Joey on the other hand does well in explaining stuff so when I'm ready I know I have gained knowledge to have a successful tank.
correct me if im missunderstanding yall, but couldnt you do a uvb light fixture for reptiles? i have one on my chameleons cage it even with the dome around it it works for the plants in my tutles tank which sits about 6 inches away from it. plus bulbs are cheap, and last decent time, mine is going on 4 or 5 months, also zoomed makes some decent looking fixtures
Ambrosius13 depends on the size of tank you want and if you're gonna brace it or not. but you can order it online or at professional hardware stores. you'll wanna get a sheet or two of 1/2 or 3/4 inch acrylic. the stuff is kind of pricey but goes a long way.
Nice tank! Looking forward to the rest of the build! I'm interested in intensively culturing some vampire crabs and other crabs in the future. If you were to do this, how would you go about it? One big challenge is the crab's tendency to eat one another while moulting, so you'd likely have to separate the young into smaller groups and individuals as the crablets grew. I'm mainly interested in hearing about how you'd design the aquarium/rearing system to accomplish this - I've heard from other people, but you being the King of DIY I thought I'd ask you :)
Wow, thanks for the share!.. great looking finished product, and it looks like you showed us enough tricks to reproduce it fairly well.. With the cost of the router, this might cost just a bit more than buying a pre-fab, but the future potential is impressive once I get a bit of practice and confidence.
What a trip my planted tank is almost exactly the same size! It's 18x20x20" and I'm also doing a series on it! I really can't wait to see your design it a,ways inspires me!
Hey Joey you never disappoint... this tank is absolutely beautiful. However I would like to know could you round the edges on a big one like the 375 ?Or would this compromise the integrity of the corner having less material close to the joint.
Hello Joe, It looks amazing. What kind of glue did you use in the syringe? It was as thin as water. Is the tank than watertproof or I have to glue with something else? greetings from The Netherlands.
oh my gosh i cannot waiiittt to see the rest of this series!! quick question, how long did the build roughly take you? i'm considering to do this project
Hey! Great vid! I am interested in starting up a salt water tank myself. I was wondering when you go over the salt water tank could you do some details on how everything is set up and done? I like the way you explain things in detail.
I Noticed the troll face, lol This is great timing for me. If you haven't already, take a look at Cardinal shrimp (AKA dancing shrimp). They are probably the most entertaining to have in a planted tank. I'm about to get 30 in myself. I just finished planting this morning in a 20g long.
Joey, I'm a perfectionist. My hobby is wood working. So building this is not too difficult. My question is, what do you do about the gunk squeezed out in the corners on the inside of the tank? Do you leave it? Thanks!!!!
I leave it until cured. It cures clear. The stuff on the outside, i route or sand off. The stuff on the inside I leave. Although you can scrape that off if you like.
Where do you buy your acrylic sheets from to make your tanks? Everywhere I looked here (unfortunately closes city to me is Dallas 215 miles away) their price are outrages. Interested in building a tank 24x20x42 inches or around that size. Also great and informative vids,
Flynn's Fish Forum Spencer Jacks in Winnipeg is really good, Shrimp Fever (mainly shrimp), there is a discus farm in Alberta somewhere I know you can order from, and I'm sure there are a few others.
I'd love to do this for an indoor pond, maybe using acrylic that is 8" high, 3/4" thick, and 72" long on all sides. I've always loved clear displays at public aquariums and think it's possible to replicate one at a smaller scale.
I know this is old but I’m researching to rebuild a 125 gallon glass aquarium with injection method. I’ve searched your library and can’t find anything. Would you do a video on glass aquarium builds with silicone injection method or link if there’s a video?
you can also use a nail and put a dimple in the edge of the material then when you use weldon 4 or 3 it melts the dimple and no pins need to be removed
How is it obvious that they are not poor homeless people? It's easy to find access online in a 1st world country even if they are homeless. There are many places that offer free wifi connection! Although, I don't see why anyone would want a fish tank if they are homeless, except for bathing in or washing clothes in maybe.
Off the subject of your video but what's the benefit of a spray bar rather than stock output nozzle. I have a fluval Fx6 and I'm thinking about making a spray bar. 125 gallon freshwater. Thanx
the rounded corners look amazing!!
nope i just ate a while ago
"...and he says: 'nah, that can't be my goat, I had mine tied to a railway sleeper.'"
Yessssss, at long last!
Rachel O'leary i
I know Im kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good website to stream new series online ?
@Ignacio Bentley Ehh lately I have been using Flixportal. Just search on google after it=) -westley
@Westley Titan thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) Appreciate it!
@Ignacio Bentley You are welcome :)

it's here, the planted tank series is here!! so excited!!
Oh my word. After sooo long I have just watched you build another acrylic tank!! Contemplating a planted tank. Have been for awhile, this is what i`ve been waiting for!!
I just got back into the aquarium hobby and started a simple planted tank. I'm hooked and am setting up a larger tank. Thanks Joey for all the DIY projects, I'm employing them on some of the setups. You do a great job. Keep up the good work. Excited about this series!
You devil you! A+ video. A+ instruction. A+ skills. A+ for motivation. This is why you are the king.
That's pretty cool. I don't think I could make an acrylic fish tank so perfectly straight
stumbled upon this channel about a month ago and it's absolute MUST WATCH. I've binged pretty much all the vids and your evolution is truly amazing! Keep up the great work, I can't wait for part ii and hope you get back into rays soon!
This would be a Great tank for my Hog Island Boa... LOL By the way great video with Brian !
It's time for some turtles or exotic animal aquariums Joey!
You're the king of DIY! Owning more kinds of aquarium animals is your duty I must say! :D
Sahil Dwivedi he did have a fully aquatic turtle at one point, and stingrays those are pretty exotic.
Yo joe! nice job!!
Loving the rounded corners. Great work 👍👍
Ok, this may be a stupid question that you answered long ago but I have to ask. What is your background? You've demonstrated so many skills it makes me dizzy. How did you learn all this? Your tank builds are amazing.
Peter Nikolauson What his job is, I think you meant. You have to have a decent flow of money coming in to build a tank like this.
he writes computer code if I recall correctly. As far as where he picked up the mad skillz to do what he does.. that's a good question! I can say I really appreciate that he takes the time to put quality vids out to educate the rest of us on how we can also have awesome tanks on a budget.
Trial and error. Practice. etc.. There is no school for DIY aquarium stuff... so i started my own. This is it, my channel.
The king of DIY can you pls link the video where you made those jigs to keep the panels square while gluing? thanks joey, hope ya see this lol
Do you buy the acrylic at home depot or online? and how do you cut it?
No he wants to build one
Nice. Great build from the king.😁😁
It's amazing how far you've come. I just watched the series of diy tanks where you kept saying umm a lot. Now you're an amazing creator!
keep going making vids! i love youre vids! respect from holland
Wow its looking amazing joey !!!
Looks like you might've taken my vote! Dwarf baby tears.... and CRS ;) Very excited to see the tank.
Can't wait to see the rest of this series! I had so much fun with my planted aquarium and i cant wait to see what yours turns out to look like!
Waiting eagerly for the followups. Great videos.
Hey man, Glad to have met you at Chicago. Excited that you're into planted tanks now ~
Yes! It was great meeting you as well. Stick around, might need your help!! haha
haa I'm always around ~ You can join one of the plant focused FB groups; where it's easy to get fast feedback from various people. I'm more active in this particular high tech group: facebook.com/groups/259927137681824/
Great video! That tank is beautiful.
Great work!
sweet build Joey! I'm getting very interested in testing to build an acrylictank as my next project 👍
During all these acrylic builds, i've been wondering what happens with the cement that overflows into the inside of the tank..? Wont it melt the acrylic and create blotching?
Very nice looking forward to seeing it finished.
The polish part is sooo SATISFYING to watch :D
finally !! planted tank series , but high maintenance alert .
love your planted tank joey!
Thumbs up for this series :D !!!!!
You're a true artist!
Finally Joey can't wait to start my planted tank now lol
***** nice .....I'm waiting to see more information on lighting I have the basic aquarium necessities for now 😏
SDD525i currently have a 10gal experiment tank with a fluorescent light which works great. But I always appreciate more information especially on lighting since it's not a topic which is covered properly on RUclips. Joey on the other hand does well in explaining stuff so when I'm ready I know I have gained knowledge to have a successful tank.
SDD525....yea same those LEDs are costly but my only concern with florescent is that after like a couple months your have to change the bulbs.
correct me if im missunderstanding yall, but couldnt you do a uvb light fixture for reptiles? i have one on my chameleons cage it even with the dome around it it works for the plants in my tutles tank which sits about 6 inches away from it. plus bulbs are cheap, and last decent time, mine is going on 4 or 5 months, also zoomed makes some decent looking fixtures
SDD525 I prefer LED tho for the compact and efficiency lol
Crazy I only recently asked if you had a rounded corner build and voila! :D
I have been meaning to do this to a tank for about 6 years now. Finally had the chance where it made sense.
And looked brilliant at the same time! Thankyou for your hard work and awesome content. Looking forward to this new series in particular!
The King of DIY
perfect really want to see more new videos of DIY in planted tanks!
I love it. Where do you recommend I purchase the acrylic?
Ambrosius13 depends on the size of tank you want and if you're gonna brace it or not. but you can order it online or at professional hardware stores. you'll wanna get a sheet or two of 1/2 or 3/4 inch acrylic. the stuff is kind of pricey but goes a long way.

Nice video!! Is this 3/4th acrylic? Thanks
Super stoked :) Im intrested on you take on balancing lighting, co2 and ferts.
That's an amazing tank dude!
Yes finally!!!! Amazing video!
joey you rock :)
nice build, bought your book by the way, excellent!
What a trip my planted tank is almost exactly the same size! It's 18x20x20" and I'm also doing a series on it! I really can't wait to see your design it a,ways inspires me!
Looks amazing! Can't wait to see the rest!
i love your channel!
Beautiful tank

Hello Joe,
It looks amazing.
What kind of glue did you use in the syringe?
It was as thin as water.
Is the tank than watertproof or I have to glue with something else?

Your such a tease Joey :) loving the vids and book can't wait to get a glimpse at your planted tank thanks for sharing.
Flowerhorns are massive everywhere, you should do a full depth video covering everything, info please big man
Oh can't wait to see the next video!
Excelent I Love it greetins from NJ.
VERY informative thanks
oh my gosh i cannot waiiittt to see the rest of this series!! quick question, how long did the build roughly take you? i'm considering to do this project

10/10 as always *cheers*
Is your book also available on kindle?
+The king of DIY would you rather live a long but sad life or a short but happy life
I Noticed the troll face, lol This is great timing for me. If you haven't already, take a look at Cardinal shrimp (AKA dancing shrimp). They are probably the most entertaining to have in a planted tank. I'm about to get 30 in myself. I just finished planting this morning in a 20g long.
I LIKE THE TROLL AT 0:29 HAHAHA
Joey, I'm a perfectionist. My hobby is wood working. So building this is not too difficult. My question is, what do you do about the gunk squeezed out in the corners on the inside of the tank? Do you leave it? Thanks!!!!
Philip Kong I'm pretty sure I remember it's easier to cut off when dry
I'm referring to the glue gunk. Thanks!
use a wet finger and smooth it over before it dries
Edit: sorry i forgot it was acrylic. I spaced out and thought it was silicone for a glass tanl
No, dont do that. Never touch it until cured.
I leave it until cured. It cures clear. The stuff on the outside, i route or sand off. The stuff on the inside I leave. Although you can scrape that off if you like.
Awesome! I just added "build an acrylic tank" to my to do list! How much is that acrylic? I bet it's pretty expensive...
Can u comment on which novus polishing cream u used as well as which drill bit for applying it?
love the look of this aquarium. Super excited to see how it has all come together.
Nice waited for this
Where do you buy your acrylic sheets from to make your tanks?
Everywhere I looked here (unfortunately closes city to me is Dallas 215 miles away) their price are outrages.
Interested in building a tank 24x20x42 inches or around that size.
Also great and informative vids,
hey brother just a quick question can i use 12mm glass to build a 6feet long 2feet wide and 2.5feet tall aquarium applying silicone ?
do you build tanks for customers?
You are one talented guy :-)
That's really nice.
Yes I've been waiting forever for this and it's amazing thanks for the awesome content joey, and where's the saltwater rank
*tank
Where do you order you're fish from? I'm also in Canada (West Coast) and can't find anywhere to order fish from.
Flynn's Fish Forum Spencer Jacks in Winnipeg is really good, Shrimp Fever (mainly shrimp), there is a discus farm in Alberta somewhere I know you can order from, and I'm sure there are a few others.
Flynn's Fish Forum chilliwack bc has a tropical fish store!
The little troll face for a millisecond 😂😂😂
I'd love to do this for an indoor pond, maybe using acrylic that is 8" high, 3/4" thick, and 72" long on all sides. I've always loved clear displays at public aquariums and think it's possible to replicate one at a smaller scale.
your diy co2 thing works out really well btw my friend is using it and it's really good
How did you cut the acrylic? Every time I have ever tried it the acrylic just cracks. Also where did you purchase the acrylic sheets?
I know this is old but I’m researching to rebuild a 125 gallon glass aquarium with injection method. I’ve searched your library and can’t find anything. Would you do a video on glass aquarium builds with silicone injection method or link if there’s a video?
Nice vid
you can also use a nail and put a dimple in the edge of the material then when you use weldon 4 or 3 it melts the dimple and no pins need to be removed
I would love to see him actually do a sump from acrylic
you should do small tank giveaways!!!
+Caitlin Whoo are you guys poor homeless people or something well obviously not so obviously you can afford a tank!
How is it obvious that they are not poor homeless people? It's easy to find access online in a 1st world country even if they are homeless. There are many places that offer free wifi connection! Although, I don't see why anyone would want a fish tank if they are homeless, except for bathing in or washing clothes in maybe.
Where did you get thick acrylic like that
edges r cool nice idea
Awesome. make ADA like an aquarium . which type of silicon used in the ADA aquarium. please make some DIY for us.
Off the subject of your video but what's the benefit of a spray bar rather than stock output nozzle. I have a fluval Fx6 and I'm thinking about making a spray bar. 125 gallon freshwater. Thanx
Have you made a video about how to build the plywood forms?
Which one do you prefer glass or acrylic?
How thick is the acrylic you use
Joey -- Do you have a video detailing how to make that sweet plywood jig?
Just an Idea for the planted diy builds, you should do a diy dual stage co2 regulator.
As someone that's also from NS; where do you get your acrylic panels from?
