    Jay's face while that van wont start is great!

      If "Sweet Caroline" had come on the van radio at the same time, it would have been a perfect moment... :P

    That face that Jay made when the car wouldn’t start is the same face he makes when he hears Sweet Caroline.

    I spent a couple of years as a small child here as we used to have a Navy base on the islands. I don't remember much but this was awesome to see.

    I laughed so hard you two trying that water and Jay’s jokes about the color of it, plus his comment about how his body is reacting to it. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

      Yeeeeeah, and we were a few hours away from the port area when that happened as well, hah... way on the other side of the island, I believe. Wooooo!! :P

    We were in Ponta Delgada last summer on our transatlantic cruise. What an amazing island! So beautiful. We were able to go to the park that you guys didn't get to and one of the cool things they did there was restaurants from around the area would cook their food in giant pots in the calderas. Each separate caldera was assigned to a different restaurant. It was neat and nothing like we would see here at home! Glad you enjoyed your time there and can't wait to see the rest of the series!

    • @judysmith9552
      @judysmith9552 11 месяцев назад

      we had a lunch that was included on our tour and we ate food from the calderas.surprisingly the food was very good and had no taste of sulfur.

    • @carolynshepherd8344

      @@judysmith9552 we actually did too! It was pretty good! They also brought around pineapple that was grown in the region. It was probably the best pineapple I've ever had. The whole experience was very unique!

    Looks just like the bubbling sulphur in Iceland. I can still smell that from when I visited in 2016. LOL

    That was a great day! I realised when I started watching that I really didn`t know much about the Azores; so will be going on the interwebs to remedy that situation! It really did look like a lot of different places like Dee said. So glad I can travel vicariously through you guys!

    • @parodeejay

      We'd done almost zero research on The Azores, but were surprised how beautiful everything was! What a fun day!! :D

    Alaska, Hawaii, and Iceland vibes combined. Lots of Portuguese from the Azores came to our part of Canada and miss its particular beauty and charm.

  • @TropicLuv
    @TropicLuv 11 месяцев назад +2

    I was thinking, as I was watching the places you were visiting how much they reminded me of other places! Especially reminded me of Hawaii and even had the sulfur pits like at the volcano on the big island ☺️

  • @heathahlee
    @heathahlee 11 месяцев назад +1

    The footage when the van wouldn’t start cracked me up! That is a fear of mine booking independent tours, but we’ve never had an issue…well, unless you count the time our driver stopped to get her daughter some dinner on the way back to the ship, then stopped AT HER HOUSE to deliver said dinner. It was pretty sketch but made a fun story! 😂 Glad they made it right for y’all and you got back safe and sound!

    The sulfur swamp reminded me of a scene from the movie Labyrinth, the stinky swamp, where the characters walked across the rocks and they pooted every step.😊😊.

    Wow, I really love that guitar music! What is it? I tried to look in the transcript… Maybe there’s another place it’s listed?
    I love you guys, so much! I’ve been watching you for years, but this year, I’m looking for a special cruise, and I wanted to go on icon of the seas, but as I’m seeing the first glimpses, the style is just not exactly what I’m looking for, and although this ship is small comparatively, it’s beautiful. and I had no idea the Azores were so gorgeous! Thank you for all of your videos, but this one is. Really beautiful. And that guitar music does it justice.

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  11 месяцев назад

      All the random background music comes from our Epidemic Sound subscription! They have a lot of fun tunes on there, ha ha. We're slated for Icon Of The Seas on a three-day preview as well as the seven-day inaugural sailing, so we'll see how it goes. She's a big ship for sure!! :D

      It's in our Amazon shop! The one we carried around on our tours was a roll-top waterproof backpack we bought so that we could take our valuables into the water with us when we swim, but it turned out to be a handy little all-around bag. If you don't need the waterproof-ness, we'd suggest the small Tripped backpack in our Amazon shop instead!! :D parodeejay.com/amazon/

      The Azores are just off the coast of (and technically part of) Portugal, so I guess a European country in this case, but still something to always keep in mind, true!! :P
