There are nice Android units that do not look original, but fit in really well in terms of design. I would never put an oversized discplay into a Mercedes or even replace some of the trim with a frame that is required to fit such oversized displays into the dashboard, but I think that some of the designs perfectly blend in with the rest of the interior and the respective units provide so much more value than the outdated MB head units.

Agreed, there are after market units with similar look to command units, but I am not sure if their audio quality be the same and not sure if they can last in harsh Australian sunlight...

@@BenzAddiction In terms of audio quality, in case the head unit only feeds a signal to an amplifier (which is very often the case in CLKs where the amplifier is located in the boot), it is possible to reuse the amplifier and thus retain the same audio quality. It involves using an analog to digital encoder, though and the loss of the fading (front- rear-balance) function.

While most of us can afford buying new things for our cars, like fancy Android auto and Apple car play with huge displays, I love to keep the look of my Mercedes original and attempted this fix. What do you think?
