    With a killer pun like that in the first 30 seconds, people are gonna think it's an insight job.

    Very insightful video =D
    For me, Joe Diamond had the bad luck of coming out during Circle Undone. He spent nearly the entire campaign with treachery cards that needed brain or foot tests to get out of.

    Joe is one of my favourite investigators. If you play him like a film noir private investigator, he is excellent. Think of him as someone who investigates and fights when he has to. Fine clothes, Interrogation and Persuasion are great in a Joe Deck - get some clues, delay an enemy (kill it later) move on. Hawkeye Folding camera and Tooth of Eztli are going to help against the Mythos Deck. Part of the fun of playing Joe is following those hunches. A strong hunch deck makes all the difference.

    I played Joe once, but this was before I had a full collection (those dreaded Carcosa packs!) and while Innsmouth was still coming out. I barely remember how it went but don't think I particularly enjoyed the experience.
    This video has actually made me kind of excited to have another go, you've highlighted some cool options on how to build the deck, and there are some sweet additions for him in Innsmouth and EotE. Good stuff!

    Joe is one of my pet investigators. He’s not great, but he’s good and he’s fun. EotE really made him a lot better. Glad to see this video!

    I played joe diamond in carcosa and i had some clutch decipher realities and no stone unturned 5 for the other players and i had the timeworn brand to fight around, dude was a blast to play, but i remember some times i had a very fighty draw or super seeker dude was super fun

    The way I play Joe is always as a primary fighter. Enchanted Blade and .45 Automatic (2) as his weapons of choice, paired with Strange Solution Acid Ichor. The ability to have both a weapon that deals 2 damage and one that deals 3 damage equipped at the same time allows for an incredible versatility and efficiency on how to manage enemies. Acid Ichor is insane as you only need to pay it 1 resource and you can even recharge it with Emergency Cache (3). Of course you also want to have Beat Cop and other stuff that improve your combat so you will always fight at 8 Combat before committing cards. Higher Education is a must have for those necessary Willpower tests. Once you have that you have basically covered Joe's main weakness.
    The advantage of having Joe as a primary fighter is that whenever there isn't any enemy to fight he still has a respectable 4 Intellect. Moreover his Hunch deck provides a wide variety of utilities, and access to seeker cards gives him a lot of mobility and plenty of resource cards.

    Member in my group did Farsight Joe with Boxing Gloves and the fight events and it was quite a time

    You guys got me so worried about resources. Joe should be fine with a few Emergency Caches and an untaboo Dr Milan yeah?
    I'm about to enter a two player game with two Flexs (Joe Diamond and Jacqueline Fine) and I always overdo or underdo my economy.

    I'm making an Old Shotgun Joe diamond right now, and it's disappointing it's not in this video haha. I actually think it's one of the better end game weapons for Joe, seeing as how it can do 3 damage per hit. Gives him more actions to play hunches or to investigate with, which is great

      I think we'll likely do a video on the Old Shotgun archetype as a whole, because I think it can fit into a lot of fighters well, it just requires a package of cards to take full advantage of it.

    Hello everybody . Is this deck can be used also for True solo?

    I've been wanting to build a Joe deck for a while - thanks for your insight! (haha.)
    Just one note though - Joe can't take level 5 Sledgehammer or level 4 Brand of Cthugha because he can only take up to level 2 Guardian cards.

    Geared up interacts poorly with Joe’s weakness. If it comes up on turn 1, you can’t play it so you automatically fail it. Admittedly you will have 11 cards in the deck, so it only happens rarely, but it feels very bad.

      It also matters a lot, when you have it coming. In the first scenario, it can pretty much ruin a campaign, in particular solo. Because two XP less then, means less cards, that can help you farm more XP in later scenarios. But in the penultimate scenario, it hardly matters at all and in the last one, you should never play it, even if you have the time and resources for.

    Why not Ancestral Knowledge from Innsmouth?

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  2 года назад +1

      It can work in Joe, but it requires some build around that makes it less of a notable card and more of an archetype.

      @@PlayingBoardGames I'm playing him now in Innsmouth. He's doing great, just finished A Light in the Fog, consistently main clue-getter and fighter in my group of 3 in each scenario. Just gave him this upgrade along with adding several more "practiced" skill cards for "Practice Makes Perfect" (his 45-card deck has like 12 skill cards in it, so whichever ones end-up left in the deck and not under this card are still largely "practiced"). Tooth of Eztli addressed his weak defensive stats pretty well.

    When talking expose weakness you say go first than unload on the guy, but it only nerf them for one attack doesn't it

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  2 года назад

      It does, which makes Expose Weakness that much... worse.

      I've been away for 6 months or so but I just got back into the game. We are starting a blind run of TCU with Joe and Marie lambue. Only have core+carcosa+dunwich so I'm studying this hard for inspiration :D

      I've really enjoyed Joe in my recent plays of him. If you're going with Marie and Joe, I'd recommend having both lean into the flex investigator role, because Joe works really well with that (and Mystics well, they be Mystics).

      this is what i came up with! we did the witching hour so far, we breezed through it with 12 doom remaining on the agenda (marie carried hard with the fighting). what do you think of the deck? im wondering if i should have crack the case or emergency cash in there somewhere but i dont know what to cut for it...maybe one of the skills? thanks!!

    why no Cryptic Research? 2 Cryptic Research and 2 No Stone Unturned (5) is how the juiciest hunch deck is made! am dissapoint that Travis doesnt put in a way to draw cards.
