I had a 2003 Lexus ES 300 and had 236,000 mostly trouble-free miles. I did two timing belts , one new exhaust system, one set of six plug coil packs, 2 sets of iridium plugs, 4 sets of tires and 3 sets of brakes and rotors. It was looking and driving like new, no check engine lights when it sold for $3500. I am now retired and have a 2003 LS 430 with 98,000 miles and looking forward to many more years of ownership.

I would say you bang on with the Lexus, Toyota, Honda and Mazda. Subaru maybe the newest models 2021 and up but before 2021 Subaru was plagued by big problems like engine & transmission issues that are very expensive to repair.

1990 626 got tons of leg room to pamper the rear passengers, but unfortunately the shallow stiff ride ruined the comfort. How can someone enjoy it for such long mileage? I'm still keeping my noisy 1990 Protege DOHC with close ratio 5-speed with long suspension travel -- 6.7" front & 8.9" rear, although the excessive camber change creates lots of crazy/scary oversteer, which was a good training wheel for me to step into the widow-maker Porsche 930.

Neve get a car with turbo or the trashy CVT transmission. All those new Hondas and Toyotas are loosing their reputation for being reliable means of transportation. They are using consumers as test puppets trying their new technology. They need to reproduce the older models like the Honda's 2.4 and Camry's 2.2. Add to this great line up the Corolla's 1.8 and the Lexus's ES 330 or 350. Toyota is my choice just because of one factor and that is the timing chain vs. Rubber belt. As fas as Subaru do a research about the quality of their gaskets throughout the poweplant. The 2.5 non-turbo engine is a good one. Had personal long term experience with all of the above-mentioned vehicles. Final pick is Toyota for sure but the older models. Again do a research to find which years have best rating or least issues and complaints when you are shopping to buy one. Example: 2017 and 2018 RAV 4 were excellent especially if you get or find one made in it's homeland Japan.

@@plamenpetrov8074 Several years ago (2009) I remember test driving a 1993 es 300 with 235000 miles on it, the used car lot wanted $1,999 for it, so I test drove it for kicks. The car needed some work, especially in the suspension, and some cosmetic work, but the engine felt almost immaculate, as though it could have easily gone another 300000 miles.
Almost that same day, I test drove a 1997 Lexus es 300 with about 118 k on the odometer from a Lexus dealership, and at the time, they wanted $6,995 for it. The car not only looked brand new (inside and out), but it drove better than a new car.
Unfortunately, that year I decided to buy a brand new Corolla (still flawless), but not nearly as powerful as the 3.0 V6 in the 1997 Lexus.
Eventually, will keep the Corolla as a daily and will pick up a LS 460 (2010-2015) or get a low mileage SC 400 from around 1997, with the latter being more sought after as a collectible.

Subaru is a very good car 🚘. But as an owner of a Subaru outback I can clearly say fuel ⛽️ efficiency is crap 💩 2.5L engine no turbo.

But for some reason the rear seat in the Lexus ES does not split and fold over at all. No increase in storage utility. Brilliant design flaw Lexus.

How do people "not belive"? I looked up that word butvI can't seem to find it in any dictionary. I know you wouldn't make a spelling mistake on the thumbnail and then not bother to change it so it has to be a real word.

You did include include a couple of Toyota's and Lexuses to start with the 5th generation Toyota Hilux l have seen one sell with 980000 kilometres on it and by the price it sold for it would have to have been the original engine and the Hilux sold yes sold for aud $500 also not forgetting the famous million mile Lexus LS400 and another Toyota that has done more than 1000000 infact approximately 1200000 a 1993 Toyota Corolla in New Zealand and Honda turbo charged cars are not the most reliable cars as the sort of surprise was the Mazda 6 l of course know Mazdas are a reliable vehicle popular in Australia
