As the last of the leaves fall during a very mild spell in November, I set off on another modest microadventure on foot from my doorstep - this time to see an impressive art installation at the local university, sup an outdoor pint or two of Plum Porter, and camp solo under a new small tarp from Helikon-Tex.
A Trangia 27 cookset is used to warm up a curry for tea, and fry up a sausage & egg muffin in the morning. There is also a partial lunar eclipse happening at dawn that I didn't even notice until editing a few days later.
This was also an opportunity to try out some new filming/editing approaches to try and get a more 'cinematic' feel using my small point and shoot camera with a gimbal - no GoPros used this time. Definitely still a long way to go and a lot to learn!

Nice walk into camp Rich. I loved the glimpse of that wind turbine. What with the globe the theme has to be the environment. Good view. Mark
Thanks Mark. The wife pointed out that I missed a trick not titling it around the two celestial bodies that star in it. That turbine wasn’t going round as you can see - yet it was so windy I couldn’t use the sound… I don’t know what’s going on there mind!? Cheers for the watch and comment. Rich. 👍
@@CottonBud A pleasure Rich. Aaah, a bit of fun missed out on then with the globe. Not so the camp. Yeah, never noticed that - I see turbines not turning to. Odd after all that investment. Have a good week ahead.
Well done Rich, this is a particularly brilliant film, you have captured the essence of Autumn. With the low light through the copper-coloured trees, that sunset & partial lunar eclipse and a visit to the globe exhibit, you really are in tune with the world around you.
Your music enhances the sensory experience, as does your cooking. Who doesn't like a hot sausage eggy muffin.?
I look forward to your Winter wander. Cheerio.!
Kind words again Brother D. Eating fry ups outdoors is a two way enhancement deal I reckon - the sausage and egg taste even nicer in the fresh air, and the world around you is appreciated even more on account of the comforting hot salty grease. Winner! Take care my mate. Thanks as ever. Rich.
Great content and superb tunage!
Most kind! 👍
New recent subscriber and first proper watch and what an excellent film with great music which looks like you created yourself.
Very interesting,
Thanks. 🍻👍
Cheers Dave! Yep I’m quite new to wild camping but I’ve been making music since I was a kid. Thanks for the watch, comment and sub Sir. 👍 Rich.

Very cool perfectly captured mini movie Rich 👍 Really enjoyed this and the music was spot on... breakfast of champions that 👍 Looked soooo good. Lee
Cheers mucker. I was careful to keep the cow pats out of shot, although there were many nearby #cowpattreader 👍
Cracking video, stunning autumnal colours in them woodlands, that gaia project looked amazing, sweet overnighter with proper grub in the morning, stunning work with the camera too, very enjoyable, good health and safe travels, cheers craig 🌿
Thanks for the watch and nice comments Craig! The colours have been very photogenic this year. Glad I caught the last of the leaves before this cold snap. Cheers. Rich. 👍

Your time and kind comments always appreciated Jimmy, thank you sir 👍
Lovely filming as ever Rich. Atb, Andy
Thank you Andy 🙏
Hi Rich, that was excellent, thanks for sharing. The sausage and egg muffin had me salivating (that's going on the to-do list!) and I loved the walkaround the Beech woodland, what a great way to end the video. Top work on the soundtrack too. How did you find the new tarp? 👍
Thanks Gavin. Not going to lie, that muffin tasted as nice as it looked 🤤. The Helikon-Tex tarp was great - exactly the right basha type size for this sort of thing. Packs really small too as you said, well impressed. It will get a lot of use I think! Cheers for watching and commenting mate. Rich 👍
Thank you, lots of nice things here. Nice, video, music, partial eclipse, trangia stove and view. Were they the Clwydian hills in the distance.
Yes that’s right, Moel Famau on the shot with the wind turbine I believe. Also The Berwyns on the opening shot. You can see the entire north east edge of the Welsh mountains from where I live on a clear day. Thanks once again for watching and commenting sir! All the best. Rich 👍
Nicely filmed Rich , s-log pulled out those autumn colours nicely . Was that you searching for lost tent pegs at the end lol Tfs atb Dave
😂 no that was me trying not to walk faster than the gimbal was panning… I think my Golden Globe is in the bag this year! Cheers for the watch and comment Dave. 👍
👌🤘💚
Fabulous. Really enjoyed that. Inspires me to get editing again! All the best, Adam
Thanks for watching Adam - chuffed if it gives you an idea or two! Cheers. Rich.
Love those wide angles, and some excellent compositions! I recently got a zoom lens and have been trying to shoot the moon, so it was exciting to see those eclipse shots. Great vid 👍
Thanks Jonathan - I’ll look forward to seeing your lunar results! Cheers. Rich.
Cool video mate , I really like the music too, it really suited the video, that muffin looked epic , the colour's in the trees and sky looked amazing, really well filmed , take care, atb 👍
Thank you Gaz - I tried to do the amazing autumn colours justice and took a bit more care than usual over the look of it. Chuffed you appreciated it. Nice one mate. Rich 👍
Fantastic job. I feel like you’ve made the off-the-doorstep overnighters your specialty. What kind of camera & gimbal did you use? Whatever they were seemed to do pretty well in low light.
Thanks Dave. I do enjoy the local ones. Gimbal is a Zhiyun Crane M2 and camera is the Sony RX100vii. It actually pretty bad in low light due to its limited aperture - I had to do a fair bit of denoising on some of those shots. Cheers for watching and commenting. Rich. 👍
