This mythbusting series is an absolute god send. After you've finished testing everything, you should make a video on the actual things that increase performance.
Upgrade your GPU & CPU
@@nexus4dev facts, modern hardware that you get nowadays would rarely benefit from things such as "window tweaks" outside of game specific settings. if you wanna get better performance, get better hardware or overclock (at your own risk)
buy another SSD and install linux on it and make it so in GRUB you could select between windows and linux boot-ups. I had a really bad problem with Lego City Undercover on my windows cuz it averaged about 45 fps with really bad stutters, but after I switched to linux I had the 60 fps with 0 stutters.
I use Arch btw
Ideas for more things to test:
- Win10 vs Win11 :)
- Hyperthreading on vs off
- G-sync (VRR) on vs off
- MSI (message-signalled interrupts) for the NVidia driver .. a NVCleanstall thing
- MPO (multiplane overlay) support on/off .. note, this will need specific hardware support
I really want to see Win 10 vs Win 11 :D
cool ideas
Intel vt too
Hyperthreading gives different result depending on the CPU. Testing it on a single system is not gonna be enough to give concrete results.
nice testing but can you test it in more e-sport titles for example CS2 or Valorant? in cs2 you could use the dust 2 benchmark map and start capframe x like 1 second after map starts and 1 second before. Would be glad to see the difference between 0.1% and 1% with all the tweaks and not. I feel like these changes may speed up but in less demanding titles with higher fps. Idea for next video - custom power modes
Man this channel is a goldmine of information. Can't wait for you to grow fast!
Genuinely well put together videos that get straight to the point, deserves so much more views tbh
This series is very informative and there should be more people spreading thhese. What would be awesome in a future episode is more validated tips, and some sort of wrap up of what you actually benefit from tweaking when you boot up a fresh new windows install
An absolutely great video, would love another part!
Id be very curious to see what the results would be if you were to combine all 'myths' from both parts. I think perhaps the improvements that you wrote of as too little to be bothered might actually add up into something worth tinkering with.
This has been very helpful with optimizing my laptop by mythbusting some common pc tips. I hope you'll make a video about some settings that actually increase performance!
The Nvidia App overlay definitely affects FPS, and I always got 6 less FPS in Cyberpunk with it enabled.
I'm waiting for part 3
fullscreen optimazion on vs off, cpu 0 on vs off, (ISLC) on vs off, process lasso on vs off, gpu msi mode on vs off, DPC latency Chekcer on vs off etc, you can test these tips, thanks for your videos 😊
What about the option ultimate power mode ? You can add it by using some tools. Do the test on this one please
It’s bad
Interesting. Disabling steam overlay really helped in my case.
I was heavely CPU bottleneck in Hunt Showdown, running the game at 80fps.
-Disabling Steam overlay + disabling full screen optimisation (right click on [game].exe) gave me a 10fps to 20fps boost
I really expected OWG (optimizations for Windowed games) to have a more measurable benefit, for latency -- you may need to run FrameView or PresentMon to verify it's in effect.. there are a lot of conditions and caveats attached to it.. like, I think it's DX10/11 only, and your windows desktop color bit-depth (and SDR/HDR) has to match exactly what the game is rendering.. and no overlays, unless your system has sufficient MPO support.. not sure what else.
But if fullscreen-exclusive vs borderless-window wasn't showing any difference, then there may be something wrong with your testing methodology. Input lag is difficult to measure, with only software tools.
Straight to the point. I liked it.
Would love if you could test in CS2! (I recommend the map CS2 FPS BENCHMARK in the Workshop for good comparisons). Would be great for us FPS players to know what is snake oil or not! :) Great job so far!
there's also another hidden power option called "ultimate performance mode", could you test it?
I do set the appearance settings on performance bcs I like them like that ( I keep smooth edges on ofc ), never saw an improvement from using it, since then I started ignoring it whenever someone recommends to use it
Idea for testing:
Windows transparency on vs off
Huge thanks. Great job ❤
For you next video, can you do G-SYNC on vs. off vs. on w/ 236 fps cap?
Competitive games such as Valorant, Cs2 gsync should be off. Higher FPS = Lower latency e.g 240 hz monitor and locking 20-50 frames above. G sync matches frames to the hz of the monitor think of this scenario 240hz monitor with g sync on and you run into a high processed game frame/frames and it drops to 170 for a few seconds the delay/latency will be significantly noticeable.
I have a 500hz and currently lock FPS to 600-750 in game and it’s stable in the range I reach an average looking up with no bots 1150-1300
3070 stock besides fan curve, i9 12900k 5.1ghz, 32gb ddr5 6k mhz with windows debloated manually
TLDR Competive FPS where every ms counts no g sync off, beautiful games like eldin rings etc absolutely.
hey, maybe u can test also:
- Windows fast start ON/OFF
- ULPS ON/OFF
- Core Isolation ON/OFF
:)
Have you tried the core isolation ? I saw a lot of videos that it improves input lag
can u do some for amd?
I'm curious to see whether disabling core security features like core isolation, memory integrity, CFG, secure boot, tpm 2.0, etc. do for gaming performance cause I've seen discussion around those settings degrading gaming performance for ppl
0:01 can someone tell me what this game is please it looks like fun and I wanna play it
The Finals .
@@Qersoras thank you so much
Ending the Windows Explorer process through task manager
You are indeed testing on a 13th gen i5. Haha Good luck finding any benefit in any of these optimizations.
testing power saver while lmiting the gpu max power? doesnt it increase the power in the highest performance but you have it capped? doesnt it up more when you do not cap it
Please could you also test whether using GeForce Experience/Nvidia App's graphics optimisation settings for games improves or makes performance worse. Thanks.
thank you so much for making these vids
Awesome videos thanks
Can you test message signaled interrupts vs line based interrupts.
Power Options make a big difference on laptops
It does help with latency and frame time stability but the heat thoughh💀
can you also please test with te previous median steam pc?
like gtx 1070 and i 7-770K
part 3 !!
Can you provide valorant optimization guide that shity game feels different everyday
Good Job !
what about regedit in system profile(gpu priority, scheduling ) and cpu unparking..i would like to find out about that too😁😁😁
Whenever I turn on High performance in control panel on my desktop CPU clock speed always stays at 4ghz is that safe? but in balanced it fluctuates
CPU : i5 12400F
setting it on High performance keeps your cpu running at 100% speed while in balance it adjust to what you are doing.
Part 3 😅
doing god works
part 1 link?

On the next one can you do page filing I think it's called
pagefiling is actually neccessary... i dont know why anymore but without it pcs run pretty fast into problems
@@Loomynated for gaming?
@@pettysteak for the whole system i think... i mean you can play around with it in (if youre on w11) >win 11 settings > system > info > and under devicespecifications > advanced systemsettings > under advanced > performance settings > under advanced > virtuel ram > change > then you uncheck the top setting for automatic allocation i guess... (im german :) then you userdefine and i think microsoft has recommended settings for this in the bottom... i just changed it a few months ago and i think i have no problems and now i just roll with it :)
@@pettysteak i mean i could be wrong but im pretty sure the pagefile is neccessary for the entire system else well pc goes funny
@@Loomynated but does it boast performance for gaming cause every "pc boast video I watched they say it boast pc performance"
Is it better to play The FInals with DLSS On? NVIDIA Reflex On, On + Boost?
Use on only. Because on + boost will decrease fps a lot
@@iSauronx thanks for clearing up, my game always 80% sometime down to 60% cpu usage, do i need to turn up my graphic?
@@syafinorzizan9968 what’s your specs? And what game you play??
@@iSauronx i5 11400F RTX3060 32GB RAM, For games are Apex, The Finals, Ghost of Tsushima for now
@@syafinorzizan9968 just wait to the next gen. The finals is already heavy Game and it’s not optimize. Otherwise you have a decent gaming pc.
Nvidia reflex
ofc these dont work
your pc is isnt ass is all
U say overlay doesnt affect inputlag? Its a night and day difference in my game (r6 siege) and for my friends too u must be on drugs to question such a thing ur benchmarks are clearly wrong if they dont point at the lower inputlag after turning uplay overlay off LOL
this channel is a joke
we ne moore
U didn't play csgo as I see
