Interesting. Disabling steam overlay really helped in my case. I was heavely CPU bottleneck in Hunt Showdown, running the game at 80fps. -Disabling Steam overlay + disabling full screen optimisation (right click on [game].exe) gave me a 10fps to 20fps boost

Был опыт с экспериментами по слабым ПК, МНОГО перепробовал популярных программ по оптимизации, и результат был всегда один - переустановка Windows. Так что обновите ПК, отключите защитник Windows, Smart Screen и то, что хотя бы чуть-чуть потребляет система, и не занимайтесь ерундой. Я, например, даже на мощном ПК спустя года использую лишь 1 программу, это ShutUp10, которая отключает всё ненужное и просто освобождает Windows от нагрузки и лишних настроек.

As someone with a bad NVIDIA GPU, I can say I've tweaked the settings in the control panel dozens of times and not once have I seen results. It just doesn't work lol.

On r/F*ckTAA, this method is known as Circus Method. It's better to use 4xDSR but we documented to cost on our fake optimization video.

I really expected OWG (optimizations for Windowed games) to have a more measurable benefit, for latency -- you may need to run FrameView or PresentMon to verify it's in effect.. there are a lot of conditions and caveats attached to it.. like, I think it's DX10/11 only, and your windows desktop color bit-depth (and SDR/HDR) has to match exactly what the game is rendering.. and no overlays, unless your system has sufficient MPO support.. not sure what else. But if fullscreen-exclusive vs borderless-window wasn't showing any difference, then there may be something wrong with your testing methodology. Input lag is difficult to measure, with only software tools.

Ideas for more things to test: - Win10 vs Win11 :) - Hyperthreading on vs off - G-sync (VRR) on vs off - MSI (message-signalled interrupts) for the NVidia driver .. a NVCleanstall thing - MPO (multiplane overlay) support on/off .. note, this will need specific hardware support

DLDSR with 0% smoothness? That will look oversharpened to the extreme. The smoothness slider for DLDSR is an inverse scale for sharpening where 100% is zero sharpening, while 0% is max sharpness. DSR works the opposite way 0% no blurring, while 100% is max blurring (which is done to reduce downsampling artifacts if the resolution is not 4x). In gereral I would say go with: - DSR 4x: 0% smoothness (you shouldn’t blur your image as the scale is already perfect) - DLDSR: 50% smoothness (close to DSR 4x with 0% smoothing in terms of sharpness) - other DSR factors: 30% smoothness to try and mitigate the uneven downsampling artifacts. But I would advise against using DSR (except for 4x), as DLDSR offers better quality at the same performance (there is no 4x DLDSR so 4x DSR is still superior but at the cost of a huge performance cost for a very minor improvement, but I guess it can be used when playing extremely old games where gpu power is not being used).

U say overlay doesnt affect inputlag? Its a night and day difference in my game (r6 siege) and for my friends too u must be on drugs to question such a thing ur benchmarks are clearly wrong if they dont point at the lower inputlag after turning uplay overlay off LOL

You didn’t properly test the timer tip. So you have to disable dynamic tick, use platform tick if Windows 11 (otherwise it’s delete value) , delete platform clock value, disable HPET in device manager, set global timer requests in registry, and use a timer resolution service to request .500 resolution. If you even skip one of those things you are hurting more than helping. BUT if you properly do everything it helps with latency issues considerably and does boost performance in some situations. The only way it wouldn’t would be is if you didn’t have a decent invariant CPU (which if you have an even somewhat modern decent cpu it’s probably invariant). I have a script set to do all this along with some APIC settings. The only thing the script doesn’t always do is disable HPET in device manager cause it seems like the device Id can be different at times.
