sure and I hope one of those bugs will break fashion authority since it messed up my save file. I don't want to go back to the May 25th save file anymore... because I changed so many things right after.
With all due respect, I’m not going to give them the benefit of the doubt. They are a well established company under the umbrella of another major company. There is no excuse for the lack of quality in any of their packs including base game. I’m not buying this bs excuse from them anymore as well. If it wasn’t for mods and cc I would’ve stopped playing a long time ago because god knows Maxis isn’t giving us anything.
Exactly the same as I think. They have to be held accountable, and the only way the company can really recognize is by the pack going down cause people aren’t buying it enough for their expectations. Money, or lack of it, is the only answer we can give them.
Exactly! I also blame simmers chastising all of us who were real from the beginning about the red flags we saw. We are we’re we are with this franchise because TOO many people just willfully praised watered down, overpriced and recycled content. It’s going to take a serious decline in their sales for them to do an about face at this point.
@missym877 I actually don't think there can be enough of a decline in Sims 4 sales to matter at this point; I suspect the game was struggling for a long time and only after they got toddlers and more updates and perhaps certain expansions did it turn around at least enough for EA to decide to just keep milking what they could get. I feel like Sims 4 was ALWAYS taking a last gasp and on life support even though EA tried to imply it was going great. This is also the tail end of the era, finally, and since the base game is permanently free now, literally the only thing the customers will be able to dramatically impact will be Sims 5 once it's out (even though I know it's supposed to be free base game too... essentially all we can do is not buy the DLC which would actually tank it eventually.)
I've seen multiple people say this, but does it really? This pack comes with horses, mini goats and nectar making; werewolves only came with werewolves. Chestnut Ridge is also much bigger than Moonwood Mill. Yes, this pack might not contain enough to deserve the same price point as a full expansion, but it definitely contains way more content than any game pack we've had so far. If you don't like horses you could still potentially want this pack for the mini goats and nectar making, but if you don't like werewolves there's literally nothing to attract you to the werewolves pack exept the build/buy and cas.
@@Jinx661 They have cute new interactions and animations at least, and if you scare the goats they fall over like those fainting goats do in real life.
@@jimjimjimmy7793 I mean sure this pack seems suspiciously lackluster but it still has 3 things, while werewolves only had one thing. I totally get complaining that this pack doesn't contain enough stuff, but claiming that werewolves contains more is just untrue and severely exaggerated.
I’m super annoyed that there hasn’t been any early gameplay from RUclipsrs. That’s always part of the fun with expansions, watching them and getting ideas of what you’re going to do when the pack is released. With cottage living we were watching them play for like 3 weeks prior to release. This is just boring.
There has been, so far as I know lilsimsie has been playing it on Twitch! But, yeah, it has been REALLY quiet so far as early gameplay. Edit: I have been informed that she hasn't been playing it either. I was going off of what she said in her pre-recorded uploads/preview images on her streams. Sorry!
totally agree. i understood that i took for granted early access videos from youtubers and was watching them just because i love their personally. this is the first time i wanted to watch early access videos to have some inspiration for my gameplay but this time there are no videos for us 🥲
I agree. They kind of did the same thing for Growing Together (if I remember correctly) There was no early access videos before 2 days of the release. I've seen some comment saying the youtubers already have their videos recorded, they just can't release them yet. It's weird, I'd like to know why ?
@@ramonapisadeira5136 literally same! I*ve been waiting for early access content because I really wanted to get inspired for my family that I want to move to the new world :D
@@Schaemia I feel like they would even possibly make more money by selling it as a game pack because there might be a lot more people who are willing to buy it for 20 Dollars than for 40 Dollars
It kinda reminds me what they did with University. Like they kinda gives University (and this new pack) a after thought which sucks if your looking for new gameplay
@@RachelynBaylon-cz6qhGirl just don't participate in discussions you don't want to have, it's free 😂 This observation isn't even criticism, it's just a valid theory as to what's going on. Personally, I feel terrible for the Sims Developers- working for EA must be a soul-sucking experience. But that doesn't mean people shouldn't criticize the game (when they're actually doing that)
Actually them being quiet worries me because that is exactly what happened when my wedding stories came out and the pack was completely broken. Or they are being quiet due to all the backlash the pack is receiving.
I just wish more people would understand that it's EA making these decisions. I can't imagine how much working on a game you love for the company destroying it via time and financial restrictions only to get the brunt of the backlash.
I’ve definitely had enough of it. I don’t get excited for packs anymore and have low expectations, I’ve stopped buying them now since high school years. I’ll only get one if it’s on a good sale and I really want it, it’s not buggy etc. EA have had plenty of my money!
A little too late, I would say. They're already working on a new game, people are gonna eat it up. Just recently, I was in an argument on Reddit about the quality of the packs, and most arguments I've heard was "don't spoil my fun" or "don't play the game if you don't like it". I feel like the majority of the players actually do not care.
I just happened to notice that EA’s CEO took his position as CEO in 2013, this game released in 2014 and amongst other titles was the first truly bad year for EA in terms of game quality. Every year since then (especially noticeable in the perennial EA Sports titles) has been just as bad if not worse. It’s clear that the current CEO is the problem and he needs to step down before he runs the whole company into the ground.
Yeah, it seems like this CEO is obsessed with online co-op and microtransactions, because that's what was all the rage in 2013/14. Even though gaming has mostly moved on from that style of game design, out of touch companies and CEO's are still trying to chase a trend that's long since vanished into the abyss.
I think you're spot on with your speculation. Horses are known for being very hard to animate right, and making them look good probaly ate up what little budget EA threw their way and told them to make it work. I feel really sorry for the devs. With how amazing the horses look, it is obvious they really cared about it, only to run into a wall of limited resources because EA is not investing in the game anymore, just milking an ageing cow to death. The devs didn't give up on Sims 4, EA did. I don't doubt the sims team does their best to make the most of the situation, but it's hard to pretend to be excited about something you weren't given a chance to do a good job on.
EA was originally a good company (like 15 years ago) but is now known for screwing over a ton of their games not just the sims franchise, it’s honestly sad how corrupt they are. I’m not sure which game it is but my friend told me about a game a lot of people had preordered which ended up being released completely broken and unplayable. EA received so much backlash from it that they had to make a completely new game. The original was so broken no amount of updates could fix it. When the new game was released everyone who purchased the previous one shockingly got it for free but they bumped up the price by A LOT for everyone else. Like “hey if you want our game to work then you gotta pay extra.” It’s so sad.
So well said! I’m not hating on the gurus, I get that they’re not the real responsible people of the situation. But I’m so mad EA doesn’t care at all about us while we gave them our money for more than 20 years. I personally started playing with the original chapter as a kid and I’m almost 30 years old. So you get that the math is mathing right now.
The difference between Growing Together and Horse Ranch is insane 💀 There’s was TONS of hype for Growing Together and we were constantly getting content from gurus and I remember being SUPER excited for the pack that it was the first pack I even preordered. It was the first time I watched a live stream. The hype for Horse Ranch is like…non existent. Obviously, this should’ve been in Cats and Dogs or they could’ve made it a game pack.
@@vanovasmith9586 Well, they still can be, since I think they have some English saddles for the horses, also the Cottage Living world is a good place to ride cause it has a lot of paths going around the different lots, you can ride a long distance too.
I know right like Growing Together is probably one of my fav packs but I still had to wait till after it came out to get it just cause it was such a short prerelease and I needed to know it was worth my money. I'll take the base game Native American hairs and love them as a diversity win but no way will this pack be in my game
>Make a weak product >Get backlash >Go silent >Backlash gets worse >Make a statement that they'll do better to listen to fans and step up in quality >Maybe throw in some cute non-gameplay content to show that you care >Repeat How many times has this happened? I feel bad for these poor Gurus, they're basically forced to be the faces for The Sims, and that means also being the scapegoats.
@@aysegulkarakaya9373 No way, this is going to be way worse than Island Living. Island Living at least enough CAS, BB and Gameplay to last you at least seven-to-ten hours of playing time, this is going to have the same playability as Bust the Dust. I doubt anyone could get more than five hours of playing time from this "expansion pack"
@@myheartiswritingIf you believe it or not. For many horse girls (especially the younger ones) the game will become totally horse focused for them. For some people it will be a real „expansion“, because they will never again have a household without horses.
I feel for the gurus in a way. But at the end of the day, their feelings are not our responsibility and we're still having to spend $40 on a gamepack..
Yeah people are under the impression that they make these decisions- they don't. The nickel and dime-ing is corporate BS. They probably hate EA more than we do given they work for that soul-sucking company. (nb4 "they should quit then" 1- triple A studios are like this, it's unfortunately the norm for the industry. EA is just especially egregious with their destruction of beloved series & 2- they might love the game too much to leave. either way it's not their fault, they aren't in charge)
There were various size lots. I believe there were two large lots, a couple little ones, and some 30x40 … I think. I need to go back and look. But I thought the variety of lots was decent.
I had exact the same thoughts. This pack includes one of the most wanted features and there no hype? It really feels weird. The prerecorded livestream also felt weird. The gurus in the "livestream" were so unecxited. Usually they are so proud of their work.
I think for me, the main issue I have is that smaller game developers that have barely a team can manage so much more detail, gameplay and personality in their games (if you know you know) but yet the sims has more than these smaller developers and can’t even do the minimum :( like, as others put in the tweets you showed, it’s not like it’s just come out, the sims 4 has been out for a long time, and the excuses are getting boring. I love the sims as a franchise, I really do but I feel like The Sims 4 is hanging on by tiny threads right now. The Sims franchise was HUGE at one point, people bought the packs immediately, without question, because they knew without out a doubt they’d get a game full of gameplay, character, personality and that classic Sims sense of humour. Now, I feel like all the hard work done by previous sims team members (like from sims 1, 2 & 3) is being undone in a way and I hate it. I really do hope they turn things around and work these issues out. I want to love The Sims again.
I'm not sure that the pack as a whole will be great, but I do think that the horses themselves look good, appear to have smooth animations, and it looks like there is a fair amount to do with them. I hope that the horses, at least, are all you were hoping! :)
@@lisag4588 yeah, but what's the point of kinda good look and acceptable animations (as an equestrian I am very critical about it) if we can't actually do things we want to do with horses? That cowboy stuff is popular mostly in US, the rest of the world actually rides in English saddles. This EP is basically made for 13 year old rancher's daughters from Arizona and that's it.
I lost all hope. I wanted horses, I’m not a “horsegirl” but I do like them. I couldn’t be more disappointed, and I don’t want to delude myself anymore when it comes to TS4.
@@onidaaitsubasa4177 i wouldve been fine with that honestly. they shouldve been apart of cottage living anyway. and nectar making shouldve been apart of my wedding stories. but also not all game packs have small worlds, strangerville had 12 🤷♀️. either way i wouldve been fine with a small world, as long as they gave it the feel of a semi open world, like they did with werewolves! just to have enough room for the horses to run around
I am SO done with that entire management, they KEPT ignoring is for years. WE DON'T want copied things from the sims 3 while it doesn't work well, we want new stuff, hotels, more realistic packs
As a Native American, I had no idea there was supposed to be Native American representation in this .. 👀 I just seen the trailer and honestly thought it was supposed to be cowboys and western.
I only just realized that... I haven't even seen early access gameplay. I think the team realized it was more animations and assets than gameplay, and if people release early access stuff, players are gonna get a clearer look at just how lacking the gameplay is. With streams, you can attach so many bells and whistles to make the pack look bigger - if someone is showing early access stuff, EA doesn't have control over that and showing just plain gameplay footage will show exactly what they're wanting to hide
Two thoughts: 1. It's sad that a pack that hasn't even seen the light the of day yet is already on the refresh list. 2. Anyone else think the reason why they're not sending any early access out is because the pack doesn't even work (mesh well) with their new update coming so they're in "all hands on deck" mode to "try" and make it at least runable (not mentioning repeat crashes) so on release date they can't say they sold us something that literally doesn't run. It would make sense. that's why the Livestream wasn't actually LIVE and all the gameplay we've seen has been recycled throughout any released info (pics, clips, vids) we've seen so far. That would explain why all of that has been so........"controlled" (edited, and clearly visually freshened up clips and videos)
Regarding your number 2 (oo-er), the livestream showed so little and they still didn't show two of it's bigger features for 'reasons'. That should be a huge red flag that there are issues with it. Even the poop box failed and they tried to ignore it. I get people are excited for horses but nobody should be getting this before seeing it after launch. It could be nothing of concern but given how Wedding Stories went, it could be a huge horse poop show.
I feel like the pack is riddled with bugs and glitches and they don't give out early access so people will have to buy the game to notice the bugs. Much fewer people would buy the pack if they know about its state beforehand
@@augusto7681 because it lacks the amount of features it should have for a expansion and they know that but still chose to output this for sales knowing they're already gonna move it to refresh "when they have time". But the time they used riding horses and taking a field trip could've been used to incorporate more into the pack they're giving.
I recently had one of the creepy elongated dog NPC spawn in my Not In World households called "Friend". I imagine we'll soon get stretched horses called "Nightmare" 💀
They were very vocal about Werewolves because it was good. Probably the best pack in a long time. Eco Lifestyle was also good with a lot of unique new gameplay (imperfect of course, but pretty good in terms of getting stuff). But when they know there are gonna be complaints, they usually keep quiet (Wedding Stories, lol. Remember?)
Too late. But the Sims team are keeping quiet as silence only makes public more intrigued and inquisitive to know more so they buy the pack when it comes out to find out and then it's too late..they have our money...
Isn’t it so genuinely saddening that simmers waited this long for horses and this is what we’re getting. Jokes aside. It’s heartbreaking for everyone involved.
You can wish for anything, but be sure any wish that will be fulfilled for this game will be empty, shallow, and totally half-baked. So it is better not to wish or want anything.
I just realized it’s coming out on Thursday I’m like wow where is everybody its just nothing happening I assume game changers will have videos … smh 🤦🏾♀️ idk 🤷🏾♀️
@@MissOlivia88 yeah like I expected early access videos like _yesterday_ but I haven't seen any till now and I feel like 3 days is a very short time to build up hype through them
Honestly, I don’t know what people expected when they begged for horses in sims 4! It just doesn’t work with the worlds not being open world! There is going to be sooo many problems with horses showing up in apartments and such! I just know it! Also with us only having 8 sims per household (without mods), there is going to be so many problems when you want to have a family farm! Especially when you want a family dog and or cat.
It’s their job to develop the game, not the players. There are lots of things people say they would love to see that there are excellent reasons not to do. They made this choice to overspend on horses.
i noticed when sim guru joanna was asked about the contents of the pack during the sims summit her whole demeanor changed and she sounded pretty unimpressed when she mentioned the other aspects of the pack. i agree that it seems like they’re not passionate about this and know that it could be a lot better
I actually have a theory that this pack is something they'd wanted to do for a while, but kept hitting snag after snag that sucked the passion out of it. There's evidence in the game code that horses were a planned feature as far back as the Cats and Dogs pack, which makes me think they were originally meant to be in that pack, but for whatever reason, couldn't be completed, so they pivoted to a pack specifically for horses. Given the number of cross-pack features, I strongly believe that Cottage Living was another failed attempt at getting horses into the game but again (likely due to the pandemic forcing them to work from home), they were unable to complete them and had to pivot the pack in a different direction (note how Cottage Living draws heavily from the Cottagecore aesthetic, which surged in popularity less than a year before its release; kinda feels like a last-minute change to me). Which brings us to now, where horses are finally complete, but everything they were meant to go with has been released in other packs, leaving this one with nothing to offer but horses, and base game features reheated under a new lens to conceal it.
@@nathanbentley1939 where I live we have wild horses that live on the beach. They’re protected so you can’t go within 50 feet of them by law. But yeah they tried with island living too.

I've played The Sims series since the year 2000, but today as I turned off my work computer, I was thinking: "Finally time to play Life by You. I can't wait for the nightmarish routing the horses will have. You know how your sim wips out their bike in the middle of the kitchen to bike to the mailbox to then walk to the place you told them to go, and once they arrive theeen they jump on the bike again. Yeah that but with horses. The sims 4 has such a fragile and broken base that it doesn't look salvageable anymore and Sims 5 is gonna be a battlepass/microtransaction hell 🥰😍
I’ve bought most every pack, even my wedding disaster and Batuu. Maybe I’ve regretted a few of the purchases but this is the only game I play and I love it. This will be the first pack I don’t buy on release since I’ve started playing four years ago. I just can’t for so little gameplay. We got so much more in Werewolves for half the price. I mean really how are werewolves and horses that different. Same CAS and new animations. We also got a World and occult system. We literally are getting nothing with horse ranch. How is a ranch hand a main feature. Hiring a butler was a main feature for a STUFF PACK and we still got more gameplay with that! It sucks because I know this won’t get better…only worse
I feel like we’ve given them so many chances and hung in thru so many sucky releases that it really hits wrong for them to ask us to give them a chance. We aren’t friends, we are customers who have been given the shaft multiple times. We don’t owe EA anything. It makes me sad because I have horses myself and this should be my favorite new aspect to the game but I just can’t get excited over it. I’m expecting bugs and disappointment, not because I’m not willing to give them a chance, but because of their own history. EA needs to stop working on future games and fix the game they’ve already made. If not, I think they will find that their intended audience has no confidence left in them and will not buy their new editions. I have zero intention of buying sims5, why would I sink money into the next edition when they have so adequately proven that they won’t ( or maybe can’t?) produce a functioning piece of software??
The fact we dont have any gzme changer content yet is what worries me the most. It seems like they’re keeping it from everybody cus they know we will be disappointed
I’m fed up with the sims 4. I feel like I can’t get excited about it anymore. I’m not even excited for the sims 5. At this point I’m just looking forward to paralives
I get the sense they've been really pressed for time. In the live stream they even mentioned that they had to prerecord it before it was finished because of scheduling issues. That's probably why everything is so late, the game changers probably got early access pretty late and maybe the reason they're not showing off that many features is because some aren't working yet or maybe will be canceled if they can't finish them on time (like the dogs being flower pals in my wedding stories).
As a horse girl, I preordered now I’m terrified for my game… also we have got to stop giving them the benefit of the doubt. They should be putting out not just playable but also well done and fleshed out thoroughly, they are not a paralives sized team they have more than an indie budget. Yet they keep putting out lower quality stitched together scraps of previous work and selling it at triple A prices
I agree ☝🏾 we just got growing together with infants and it was sooooo much and so much hype everyone was excited etc the sims team kept posting all these new items coming with growing together etc. for this pack it’s just blah… they should’ve done something else horses are beautiful… but yeah we need other things in the game. Sorry 😢 I’m enjoying my growing together so I won’t be getting this pack it’s unfortunate.
At this point it’s clear the sims team is breaking their own game in order to ensure that people to move onto “The Sims 5” since that was the main problem they had when the Sims 4 came out
This pack: - horses - new dance? - making Jelly or something or juice? - baby goats/sheep - gameplay 😬😬 That’s definitely more game pack stuff.. I don’t see a lot of furniture for the house personally 😅
I'm curious how the game changers are going to stretch this out to make it look better. If only LGR was still doing sim reviews. This pack needs to be dragged down.
I have been thinking about that, it's been unusually quiet from all the game changers. They all got sooo hyped when the first trailer came out and then they basically haven't mentioned the pack again.. I really hope they have backbone enough to be honest about this "expansion"pack and don't try to sugarcoat things..
The Werewolves game pack had more content in it's hype material then in the whole Ranch 'expansion') I actually remember the werewolf hype so well, it was epic...
Honestly - they are such a large company and people will always purchase it so it’s more than likely (sadly) not going to change. They don’t care about us little guys down here. 🤷🏼♀️
I personally am still getting over the fact that horses weren't in a pets ep with cats and dogs like in 3. It really just seems that EA is stretching Sims 4's lifespan well beyond it's limit just to squeeze every penny out of it's players. And I'm glad to see more and more people are becoming disillusioned and unwilling to pay for things that should've been 1. in the base game, 2. in a smaller cheaper pack, or 3. grouped in with other features in a pack.
Teehee, update… the pack is broken for a lot of people who got it on steam. The sims 4 Reddit is literally blowing up and the steam sims 4 discussions are nothing but people saying everything is broken. This is heartbreaking. 😭
Thank you for sharing. I agree with you. I think the game changers have not share content like they used to, since there was bad leaks from one of them when high school years came out. It has not been the same since. Really miss their early content. Even though I really appreciate the work and effert that has gone into making the horses and interactions between them and sims. It does feel like a game pack. The nectar making for wine should of been in my weddings stories as it fits the world and theme more. We will see!. Interested to see what comes in the free patch. I just want a good fairies game pack now :-)
If this pack was a GP and not an EP, I would have literally no issue with it. Its the fact that they are selling it for double the price of what it should be that gets me and makes me criticize it. The world could've had 8 or 9 lots too like Tartosa has and it'd still be a GP-sized world. The Sims Team really has to do EA's dirty work of trying to hype and upsell this pack and make it seem worth its selling price and many see through it. How is a "goat viewing event" a main selling point they had to make? When some of the actual gameplay for them is locked behind CL. This pack really does not have much to do outside of horses that they had to try to say anything to make it seem worth it.
@@nene3857not you being an EA apologist ☠️ people are fine with paying 40$ as long as the packs are worth it, and they’re not 🫶☺️ people don’t want packs “for free,” people want to pay for quality content, and EA is not giving us that. Not to mention Appaloosa Plains which the gigantic world they shipped with the pack that also comes with countless 64x64 lots when Chestnut Ridge only ships with one. I actually think this is the first expansion I wont buy on the first day. It doesnt feel like there is enough content for the price. A gamepack made more sense. I really want hotels and bands.
Of course it’s quiet. Every time they release something or try to show it off all the get is a bunch of bitching and bad publicity. Perhaps they really don’t care about Sims4 anymore as they are working on Sims5. They are just throwing stuff out there to keep money flowing for now. It’s not uncommon for a game in transition.
If they have constraints & a lack of resource to give us good packs for the sims 4... then dont work on packs for a money grab... work on fixing the game we already have
I wonder if there is any data that is released to see the popularity of packs brought - I'd be so interested in the stats for this one a little down the line. The geek in me would thrive haha!
James Turner here on RUclips did a survey and discussed what all his fans preferred and didn't. It obviously doesn't have horse ranch, but it's there if you're interested
Personal opinion…horses should have been included in the cottage living pack. We didn’t really need new lots. They could have just made the horses go in and out of the shed like cows and added some barrels and hurdles in build mode that allowed you to practice on your farm, then hold horse shows at the town square and throw in a few clothing items and saddles. I know some people would have wanted more but it’s not a horse game. (There are some of those coming out that sound kind of cool though!)
I agree they didn’t need to have their own world or be perfectly animated, I would have been happy if you summoned them out of nowhere, rode them around, and then they rabbit holed into the ether
Honestly I think that when facing so much heavy criticism when nothing in the pack can be changed at this point with release rolling out this week ... maybe it isn't a pride issue but just not wanting to engage in negative discussion of their work. I'm sure they can't trash talk the company that is their bread and butter like we do.
The first thing I noticed from the prerecorded live stream was the lack of enthusiasm from the team. They seemed burned out as if they just heard some bad news. Mostly with those streams they start with a little joke and tell how excited they are to show us the new pack. Idk what's going on up there but I hope it gets better soon
I love how if you use the big 64x64 lot you need a loading screen to use the equestrian center rabbithole. Most of us would use the biggest empty lot so why not put it in the same neighborhood as the equestrian center.
I'm really missing the early access content! I don't really know if this is true but somehow I remember that normally we would get early access content days before the release. but this time there's nothing. I really wanted to see build and buy, and have creators build farm and ranches, so I could get inspired and prepare my current family for the move to the new world :(
The 2 new sim "personality" traits they added with this (ranch lover and horse lover) are very shallow too and just requires you to explore this pack. Can't they think of real personality or more 'universal' traits?
They don't want to deal with the backlash. Pretty understandable, its not like the sim gurus set the prices, but unfortunately they are on the front line of social media copping the heat. I really don't envy them.
I feel a lot of sympathy for the Sims team's situation. They're obviously passionate and doing their best but have little control over resources and budget. It must be so stressful to put your heart into making good packs and not get enough QA to make the packs work or having to sound excited to sell this as an expansion when it should obviously have been a gamepack.
^perfect example of why we feel bad for them. EA is the problem but players want to be mad at people they can lash out at so they take it out on the devs. If you wanna be ignorant about that go for it, but don't tell those of us with more nuanced views how to feel.
@@carmenalexis4787 the people who make the game don't have control of how much content is in it or how much it costs they have restrictions and we should be mad at ea instead
@@sourgreendolly7685HANK YOU, like omg have some sympathy, the problem is EA as a company not the devs of the sims. And yet everyone wants to get on their ass and I feel bad for them cause they’re just doing what they were given
I absolutely feel bad for them because this is just their job. And there's a helluva lot of people who can make it more miserable than just a regular ass job.
This pack is definitely gonna go on a massive sale pretty soon after release. They’re gonna have to get sales somehow and from the looks of it no one is spending $40 on this
Think im going to count how much money i actually spent on this game and with a sober mind decide whether i really need the horses or any other pack. Especially as the stuff that comes with new packs like clothing and furniture is all the same
They are sooooooooo trying to hide the reality of the pack because they KNOW it’s game-pack level and they’re only charging expansion pack prices because of the hype.
at this point they are probably just trying to hide how lackluster the pack really is 😬 it's a shame cause the horses and world look amazing and i can see so much potential in this but from what we know rn it seems more like a proof of concept than a finished expansion. there are so many things that could and should have been added, especially native american rep considering how much they claim its a core part of the pack (yet we have seen absolutely 0 of it. it's probably all in item descriptions etc. 🙄). i don't think this is the sims teams fault tho, nearly certain ea is pushing them to their limits with both time and money. looking at the last few packs since... basically dream home decorator we have been stuck in a cycle of getting a good pack (cottage living), then a bad/unfinished one (my wedding stories), then a good one (werewolfs) and so on. this lines up both with the pandemic starting and roughly with the time project rene could have began development. that's just my theory tho 🤷 there's definitely something going on inside ea that "sabotages" the sims team cause i truly believe they care about the game and want to make the best content they can
I don’t think the pack is ready for release and instead of devoting time to promoting it they have all hands on deck trying to finish the pack and or decide what stuff is going to get cut before release.
It seems like adding infants and horses in the same year might have been a really heavy commitment to pull off in addition to two worlds, additional gameplay, pack integration, ect.
I've already stopped playing sims 4 for now and went back to sims 3. Man oh man did I forget how amazing that game was! Once you get passed the graphics (which aren't too bad on a gaming computer) the gameplay is just astronomical compared to the sims 4. It's a shame what they've done to this game. I've been a pretty avid player since the original came out when I was 5/6 and now I'm not even excited about sims 5 because I just don't have much hope for them anymore :(
I wish this would be a game pack. I waited so long for horses, since cats and dogs, so I'll probably will get this, but they should have come either with cats and dogs in the first place, or with cottage living. I hope this won't be buggy. But, i mean, it's the Sims. Probably the sims 4 will be the last of my sims games. I just don't like where project renee is going. I don't like subscription based games and multiplayer in a life simulation does not fit in a life simulation. That's why I don't really like the sims mobile or free play.
If it was a Game Pack, we would be thrilled. Overall we're mostly mad that it's an Expansion Pack. And the way they showcased it (pre-recorded livestream). It doesn't feel right and we have to protest.
Yeah me too tbh like I get a lot of the criticism, and even agree on a lot of it, but like I'm actually excited and I can't wait to play it, and almost feel embarrassed to admit it which is silly ofc. I think this pack looks cute and fun! It's nice to see others that are excited too!
EA knows there's something wrong with this EP and that's why we're not seeing it properly. Never pre-order and wait from the footage of people you can trust to be truthful.
They're charging us for horses and that's it. Now trying to play with our heart strings because we have been fans of the Sims for yearssssssss. 9 years I was flabbergasted at them and now 9 years later still flabbergasted. At this point there spending all there money on famous people instead of gameplay. There not focused on the real fans anymore there focused on the younger generation. That spend 20 bucks on Fortnite skins. Lmao
Guys don't be negative. There will be many surprises. Aren't you EXCITED about the new bugs that will come with this? 😂😂😂😂

Money, or lack of it, is the only answer we can give them.
especially when u realise, EOFY 2023 EA made over $7,000,000,000. Thats billion with a b. And we get this.
The werewolves game pack had more content than this "expansion pack" with horses.

With cottage living we were watching them play for like 3 weeks prior to release. This is just boring.
There has been, so far as I know lilsimsie has been playing it on Twitch!

Awwee..not the trolls. Boo Hoo.
This pack has gotten such a sh*tstorm I'm not at all surprised they don't want to talk and share that much
EA has been doing this for years, it was just a matter of time before the players would have enough of it.
I just wish more people would understand that it's EA making these decisions. I can't imagine how much working on a game you love for the company destroying it via time and financial restrictions only to get the brunt of the backlash.
Does that mean you'll all get lost?? Please? I've had enough of you whiners too.
Sadly I feel like that’s exactly what is happening :( they need a new CEO!
EXACTLY
THANK YOU
Yeah, it seems like this CEO is obsessed with online co-op and microtransactions, because that's what was all the rage in 2013/14. Even though gaming has mostly moved on from that style of game design, out of touch companies and CEO's are still trying to chase a trend that's long since vanished into the abyss.
People have been saying this for years, the best thing EA could ever do for the sims would be to get a new CEO, but yes you are correct
I don't doubt the sims team does their best to make the most of the situation, but it's hard to pretend to be excited about something you weren't given a chance to do a good job on.
oof those last two sentences, perfectly said
I completely agree. I feel like EA is at fault for how the Sims 4 has turned out.
So you get that the math is mathing right now.
how did you know
The difference between Growing Together and Horse Ranch is insane 💀 There’s was TONS of hype for Growing Together and we were constantly getting content from gurus and I remember being SUPER excited for the pack that it was the first pack I even preordered. It was the first time I watched a live stream. The hype for Horse Ranch is like…non existent. Obviously, this should’ve been in Cats and Dogs or they could’ve made it a game pack.
Yeah to be fair, Growing Together was the most requested EP.

I hope the pack turns out good, I wanted horses so much. :(
Same. I've been wishing for horses ever since I started playing and all this controversy is making me really worried.
I'm not sure that the pack as a whole will be great, but I do think that the horses themselves look good, appear to have smooth animations, and it looks like there is a fair amount to do with them. I hope that the horses, at least, are all you were hoping! :)

Two thoughts:
Did they the pack in refresh list or are you saying that because it lack features and will require an update?

It’s their job to develop the game, not the players. There are lots of things people say they would love to see that there are excellent reasons not to do. They made this choice to overspend on horses.
They can’t keep getting away with this
i noticed when sim guru joanna was asked about the contents of the pack during the sims summit her whole demeanor changed and she sounded pretty unimpressed when she mentioned the other aspects of the pack. i agree that it seems like they’re not passionate about this and know that it could be a lot better
Don’t forget island living. They also tried putting horses there as well.
Really? I don't recall any evidence of that. And if they did, it'd be a weird choice, since an archipelago is not at all suited to horses.

This horse pack is the final nail in the coffin for this franchise. They blew it
I’ve bought most every pack, even my wedding disaster and Batuu.
Well I think the criticism has been relentless and torrential so they probably don’t feel excited to release it anymore tbh
Neighborhood being fantastic my ass
Mic drop!
ate them up. cleared.
the sims 4 is wild
I feel like James Turner got Cottage Living like 2 weeks before launch. Even the awful High School Years had a lot more chatter.
James Turner Cottage Living lp was pretty fun and one of the YTers who got me excited for that pack
At this point it’s clear the sims team is breaking their own game in order to ensure that people to move onto “The Sims 5” since that was the main problem they had when the Sims 4 came out
This pack:
- horses
- new dance?
- making Jelly or something or juice?
- baby goats/sheep
- gameplay 😬😬
That’s definitely more game pack stuff.. I don’t see a lot of furniture for the house personally 😅
Yes, I agree, it's like they were saying : "oh you wanted horses ? here you go !" and that's it ! So disappointing really ! 😢
It doesn’t feel like the others at all. Definitely a game pack not an expansion.
ITS NOT A GAME PACK ITS AN EXPANSION PACK. Sit the hell up
I'm curious how the game changers are going to stretch this out to make it look better.
They can’t tease anything bc the entire pack is already shown in the lackluster trailer 😂
I've wanted horses for so long, but omg I'm done with the Sims team
Oh, poor baby is all upset cuz they didn't give them to you for "free." Go cry...
@@nene3857not you being an EA apologist ☠️ people are fine with paying 40$ as long as the packs are worth it, and they’re not 🫶☺️ people don’t want packs “for free,” people want to pay for quality content, and EA is not giving us that. EA is not giving The Sims’ team a good enough budget to warrant us good packs/content, unfortunately.
@@Dovima1how do you know? The pack hasn’t even come out yet and you’re already complaining. So what if we’re not being teased as much about this new pack. They prob don’t want to reveal too much
@@mrskenobi67764 bestie, i already know what’s coming, and it’s not enough compared to the usual gameplay and content we get in EPs such as Growing Together and High School Years ☺️ I’ve been a simmer for 20 years, so I know what we’re missing when it comes to Sims 4. I have something to compare it to. For example, The Sims 3 Pets added cats, dogs, horses (including unicorns, AND many additional animals such as rodents, reptiles, and all kinds of brida. Not to mention Appaloosa Plains which the gigantic world they shipped with the pack that also comes with countless 64x64 lots when Chestnut Ridge only ships with one. Our standards are clearly different since I know what they can deliver, judging from the previous installments of The Sims. Also, you can’t call me a complainer when you’re the one replying with an attitude 💀 you sound really hot and bothered 🤭
@@mrskenobi67764 + I never said anything about the teasers, btw.. So, I don’t know where you got that from. I also read everything about the features and stuff that will come with the pack from the EA website, and watched the full live stream, so, I don’t need to be teased or shown anything when I know everything that comes with the pack. You can settle for the bare minimum, but all I have to say is: I have standards, and that’s why I’m “complaining.”☺️🤭
I think you are right. I honestly forgot this was release week.
I actually think this is the first expansion I wont buy on the first day. It doesnt feel like there is enough content for the price. A gamepack made more sense. I really want hotels and bands.
Simguru; “We can’t get better without feedback and criticism.”
Also sim guru; “we don’t appreciate what you said, enjoy your no warning ban.”
I bet Fairies vs Witches is popular... Oh wait, that's a mod that seems more like a gamepack instead of a mod.
It would be so cute to see herding dogs help herd in the sheep’s, goats, and maybe even horses
A Native American themed pack would have been amazing. I think EA probably messed up on this "expansion" on so many levels.
I'm really missing the early access content! I don't really know if this is true but somehow I remember that normally we would get early access content days before the release. but this time there's nothing. I really wanted to see build and buy, and have creators build farm and ranches, so I could get inspired and prepare my current family for the move to the new world :(
Same
LiLSimsie has early access she hinted at it in a video. In her video from 1 day ago called "Building a farm so ready for horses".
This pack will be a fart in the wind. Shameful and useless. They know the pack isn't good enough and they know it. Hence the quiet.
Another point - literally WHERE is ANY Native American representation???
I feel a lot of sympathy for the Sims team's situation. They're obviously passionate and doing their best but have little control over resources and budget. It must be so stressful to put your heart into making good packs and not get enough QA to make the packs work or having to sound excited to sell this as an expansion when it should obviously have been a gamepack.
Don’t feel bad for em at all. Glad everyone is getting on their ass!!! 🤭🤭🤭
EA gonna blame the pricing on inflation.
This pack is definitely gonna go on a massive sale pretty soon after release. They’re gonna have to get sales somehow and from the looks of it no one is spending $40 on this
Think im going to count how much money i actually spent on this game and with a sober mind decide whether i really need the horses or any other pack. Especially as the stuff that comes with new packs like clothing and furniture is all the same
I've noticed Game Changers haven't Streamed it.... This is sooo weird!
They are sooooooooo trying to hide the reality of the pack because they KNOW it’s game-pack level and they’re only charging expansion pack prices because of the hype.
But then you should build the hype with teasing...
They are charging it as an expansion pack because apparently creating the horses was expensive and difficult.
at this point they are probably just trying to hide how lackluster the pack really is 😬 it's a shame cause the horses and world look amazing and i can see so much potential in this but from what we know rn it seems more like a proof of concept than a finished expansion. there are so many things that could and should have been added, especially native american rep considering how much they claim its a core part of the pack (yet we have seen absolutely 0 of it. it's probably all in item descriptions etc. 🙄). i don't think this is the sims teams fault tho, nearly certain ea is pushing them to their limits with both time and money. looking at the last few packs since... basically dream home decorator we have been stuck in a cycle of getting a good pack (cottage living), then a bad/unfinished one (my wedding stories), then a good one (werewolfs) and so on. this lines up both with the pandemic starting and roughly with the time project rene could have began development. that's just my theory tho 🤷 there's definitely something going on inside ea that "sabotages" the sims team cause i truly believe they care about the game and want to make the best content they can
I don’t think the pack is ready for release and instead of devoting time to promoting it they have all hands on deck trying to finish the pack and or decide what stuff is going to get cut before release.
God there’s so little in it already and you think they’re going to cut stuff?? I hope not, but I know EA enough to suspect you’re right.
It seems like adding infants and horses in the same year might have been a really heavy commitment to pull off in addition to two worlds, additional gameplay, pack integration, ect.
@@Iluvpie6 I hope if they’re cutting things they are things in the works that they simply never showed us but you’re right with EA who knows
I've been a pretty avid player since the original came out when I was 5/6 and now I'm not even excited about sims 5 because I just don't have much hope for them anymore :(
I’ve literally done the exact same! Sims 3 gameplay is just so much better than 4.
I feel like I am one of the few people excited for this pack. 😢
Same, I had a comment defending the pack a little bit and people got all mad.
you aren't. gotta find your people! i hope you enjoy the pack and I hope it delivers everything you want in a horse pack!
You absolutely aren't. 😊 I am sure I will end up enjoying it and watching a ton of let's plays. It's just the pricing that's the issue for me.
I'll be buying this when it's 50% off.
Same, see you in a year or two.
@@Iluvpie6 Maybe by the holidays if initial sales are low
EA knows there's something wrong with this EP and that's why we're not seeing it properly.
Never pre-order and wait from the footage of people you can trust to be truthful.
They're charging us for horses and that's it. Now trying to play with our heart strings because we have been fans of the Sims for yearssssssss. 9 years I was flabbergasted at them and now 9 years later still flabbergasted.
