Seeing nearly 80% of the lots in New Appaloosa be shells and rabbit holes just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Even just having 2-3 more lots there would have gone a long way.
I don't mind a lot of empty shells as long as they have some kind of function. So make on shell a bookstore, one can be for food and one can be used to enter CAS.
I disagree. it was the same way in sims 3 actually. I like that the shells in that neighbourhood have a function it feels nice. And this is a horse pack I just want to ride around on the streets and not just take my sim inside buildings

I'm surprised it's not broken. I wonder if the dev team wanted more resources for something bigger, but the executives just said no. I feel like we got a shadow of the version they intended to give us at first. You can see there's space for a refresh.
As a dev I can definitely tell you they invested lots of time and resources. With horses in any kind of animation or coding, if you half ass it, it'll show
I took the time to spreadsheet all the trailer dates/release dates over the course of sims 4. Major releases have gotten closer and closer together as the years go by yet the devs are still expected to get as much content done within the shorter amount of time. Then they get the brunt of the blame for it when they can't pull it off perfectly within the sped up schedule.because the gurus are the face of the team and the easiest to reach.
I'm not Native American myself but my best friend is so I'm happy I can now make me and them and them be actually somewhat representative! Though its taken too long for them to bring native representation imo! especially considering the majority of worlds are modelled after the US
He's pretty out of touch with the game now and often misses features that were added in while reviewing. You get a better feel for it if you watch multiple sources.
I went ahead and brought this today and played for a few hours. I am thoroughly enjoying myself! I chose that same family to test out gameplay, and now I'm hooked on them so will continue to play them. It was winter in my game, and the snow was so pretty!
A day or two ago everybody here was like "There's no way we can build ranches on these lot sizes!" Looks like the simmers who built for it and all the ppl in early access did fine. Additionally, horses can wander off lot and graze anywhere on the wild grass so all the land around the lots feel like part of the lot. Additionally the team integrated training areas in various places around the world
Exactly its ridiculous that there was so many negative opinions considering no one knew anything, there is heaps of game play. I can't believe some things this channel and other people said, well they all look stupid now lol

@@kerriesherrard they were comparing it to previous behaviour from the sims team. usually they show _A LOT_ more, so it's only natural to be suspicious when they show very little AND early access was so late. also, it's all relative. what one person considers to be a lot isn't for someone else; plus it's often compared to others games in the franchise, which is only fair since the newest instalment should logically always offer the most.

Playing the 64 x 64 lot...ranch house-barn-greenhouse-chicken yard-pool-nectar/crafting area-cow barn-cookout area-campfire area fits nicely, might can squeeze in a pond. Definitely am going to play bigger lots for a while. Going to use my paranormal pack to have a haunted ranch. We didn't get an old west ghost town...so going to make my own
You could upload your lot to the gallery if you managed to squeeze in so much stuff on that lot, so we don't need to suffer aswell. Would be awesome 😁👍
3 suggestions: 1: You could decorate the fenced places outside your lot using the TOOL mod 2: Juniper could make nectar and sell it for her job, it pays well. 3: The cottage living computer would fit well in this house.

i think its weird that welcome wagon shows up to households that have established lore in the world already. if they are a veteran local family, why is the welcome wagon showing up? don't they already know most of the neighbors? it makes more sense if the family is moved to a new world or if a non-pre existing fam is placed. nobody else thinks that's strange?
I’ll likely be getting this sometime soon but not today. So far from what I’ve seen I really love this pack! The horse animations are so cute and I can’t wait to eventually get it

This is one of the reasons that I really, really wish Sims 4 didn't force you to create a new household automatically; I want to just load in, look at the worlds, and be able to choose from there. I know a lot of us are doubtful about Sims Renee, and for very good reasons, but if Maxis gives us the option to start playing a premade family, which will also incentivize them to put proper lore and fleshed out concepts, instead of shoving us into CAS every time we want a new save, that'll go a long way in some respects. I know we can do Save As to create a fresh save without this issue but it NEVER should've been the default and I'd argue Project Olympus is the only reason this change was made in Sims 4.

Just because a career is not in the typical career format doesn't mean it's not a career. I saw from other early access that the competitions have many tiers to them. With horse breeding you can also breed different combinations of horses to get different traits that are not available from the getgo thereby breeding better horses for competition. Nectar making in itself can also be a career.
Not the comments under trying to gaslight u into believing this is a career. This is a lifestyle not a career. It's why u have farmers working some kind of job.

I normally don’t buy the new packs until after a few updates but I preordered this pack cause 0 self control over horses soo yea so far the best $42 I have spent over the years of playing the sims 4 and the mix-Breeds are so cute as well.
YES I feel this should have been marketed as a game pack not an expansion. That being said, I have played for about 2 hours total so far and I have to say I’m LOVING it! I think so many aspects are just precious and fun and I’m loving the aesthetics. I just really like it and am having a lot of fun with it!!!!!
Horses are cute but outside of that… I don’t see $40. I passed on HSY and ECO living was a complete waste of money. As of right now, this is a pass. I wish they gave us more gameplay instead of picture perfect world’s with non playable lots… 😩
So I was playing a new house today in the house that's $22k in the lower corner of the map and my sim would not eat nor could she fully finish cooking on her lot. She had to get off the lot to do either. I did have one meal prepped and could get a quick meal out. Once she did have a plate, she'd just sit there holding it and wouldn't actually eat despite having the icon saying she was doing so. Her need wasn't filling either so it wasn't just a bug on her animation. And for the cooking, it would load to about 25% then stop.
@@astrologym1939 I agree!! It’s clear majority of the budget was spent on horses. The animations are very well done and I can appreciate that but the lack of gameplay outside of horses is severely lacking and I don’t like that.
@Mariamalou09 I joined my save again, and only mods I have are some eyelashes and remover that I have always that never breaks. When I joined again it fixed but still crazy upset especially since I just bought the pack.
just as with Cats and Dogs, I am not surprised by the lack of Control of Horses. for me. The Sims is a God Game as much as a Life Simulator. and NOT being able to Control Pets. or even See their Action Que, Motives, Relationships (Which by the way Relationships DON'T Properly Exist outside of Sims for Cats and Dogs) or their Age, is a serious flaw
My game is broken, I would rather they delay the EXPANSION pack then send it out like this, my horse keeps glitching, my sim keeps glitching, I can't see chat bubbles, and I can't see progress in my sims info panel. Sending out an expansion like this is shady and low and I can't believe EA actually looked at this and thought it would be worth 40 dollars and make hours of fun gameplay when in reality I watch my horse run around while I do nothing....EA better put their stuff together or they will be replaced by a game that actually cares and gives the consumers what they want this has gone on for 9 YEARS and I'm done!! 🤬😡
I know I have the same issue , it’s annoying how RUclipsrs get a polished version and we are stuck with an unplayable version, they clearly have it working for important people 😅
Did you get it through Steam? I read somewhere else that folks who downloaded it from there had some problems like this, but I think those issues were fixed later, so maybe try repairing it if Steam offers that option. (Unless you got it directly from the EA App, in which case that might not be the same issue.)
A lot of simmers are saying that this expansion lacks gameplay but what we dont realize is that there is a LOT of hidden gamplay features that wasn't even shown in the livestream if your on the fence of buying it because you think that this pack" lacks" gameplay i recomend waching lilsimsie's review of the pack because she shows a lot of gameplay that wasnt shown in the trailer and the livestream there is a lot of gameplay that you wouldnt notice unless you actually play the pack.
before i wached any gameplay vids i literally thought it lacked gameplay too until i wached lilsimsie's review an she really revealed a lot of little gameplay features that i was really impressed with.

There isn't enough gameplay for the price. Maybe the viewpoint is coming from playing different games and comparing Sims 4. But other game developers can deliver full games at the same price that they're charging for EPs with rabbit holes. As much as I love Sims 4's potential the math isn't mathing but Ik modder's will fix it so looking forward to that.
Also, playing with all thenother packs ect, i have one Sim in University, one working and pregnant and one who is a dedicater ranch farmer! My house is so busy!
I love this pack! It's a must-have pack for me. So glad to finally have horses and I'd irl live in Chestnut Ridge. Some of the creator builds in the gallery are breathtaking as well. Love love love it! ❤️

How are creators games so polished, the version of this pack I got is glitchy and has empty action bubbles, I can’t see traits or breeds, I don’t know what to do about it because the action bubbles are literally just empty white little bubbles 😢 disappointing
With how solid the expansion pack seems from the frew that ive watched playing it i might get it sooner then the black friday sale that should happen in november.
This isn’t the worse pack by a long shot. Definitely looking forward to playing this when I can buy at a reasonable price. Its repetitive at this point, but I’m a gamer and definitely can’t justify this price compared to other games in this price range.
My first expressions of the pack are positive. It fits my playstyle well. The lots being small doesn't bother me because the surroundings have everything you need to train the horse and some other useful stuff too. The surroundings seem more useful here than in most worlds. The gameplay around the cave is surprisingly good. It's the best rabbithole we've had in the game. You have to do more than just enter it to actually progress further in it. You can place the sign (which lets you go to competitions, take small jobs etc) on your lot too if you wish (no cheats needed). I haven't tried it in other worlds yet, but it might be a way to more easily access those features from other worlds. I don't know if this is a bit of a niche thing, but the thing that has bothered me so far is just that there doesn't seem to be any honey nectar. I think it would need Seasons, but it would have been a good opportunity for pack intergration and I'm assuming wouldn't have been too difficult to implement. As a Finnish person I would have loved to make honey nectar and pretend it's sima/mead. (Even better if it had both honey and lemon. Nowadays sima is usually made with sugar and not honey, though, but historically it had honey and other types of meads still have honey.)

From what I’ve played, it’s not so bad. The negative reviews seem sort of picky and exaggerated but I suppose it depends on what each player is looking for. I think it’s a cute pack! Overpriced as always though.
I think one of the most enjoyable parts of this video was just watching and hearing your genuine reactions. I had more fun just seeing your reactions than the actual pack itself. Although I have to agree it looks great! But wish the gameplay was deeper. 😕

There is some more lore if you go into the characters sentiments, look at sienna's. The in depth gameplay is in the training of the horses and looking after them. Lilsimsie has a good review on the pack

The consumer in me is immensely disappointed in the content to price ratio. The horse girl in me has been squealing since it was announced
Not thousands of people left unable to play their game or download their pre ordered stuff and EA ignoring refund requests…. SO FUN!!!
They still have not refunded me for Growing Together and I had to go buy it again on steam to make it work.

I got a horse in my suburban house - built a barn for the horse and everything. Love it so far!

Running a ranch or training a horse is a full-time career. Kind of like how running a farm in Cottage Living is.

The pack is decent but they could’ve done so much more for it to be considered an expansion. Still I like it, the world is beautiful!

I know I have the same issue , it’s annoying how RUclipsrs get a polished version and we are stuck with an unplayable version, they clearly have it working for important people 😅
Did you get it through Steam? I read somewhere else that folks who downloaded it from there had some problems like this, but I think those issues were fixed later, so maybe try repairing it if Steam offers that option. (Unless you got it directly from the EA App, in which case that might not be the same issue.)

A lot of simmers are saying that this expansion lacks gameplay but what we dont realize is that there is a LOT of hidden gamplay features that wasn't even shown in the livestream if your on the fence of buying it because you think that this pack" lacks" gameplay i recomend waching lilsimsie's review of the pack because she shows a lot of gameplay that wasnt shown in the trailer and the livestream there is a lot of gameplay that you wouldnt notice unless you actually play the pack.
before i wached any gameplay vids i literally thought it lacked gameplay too until i wached lilsimsie's review an she really revealed a lot of little gameplay features that i was really impressed with.
She didn't. I watched her video and the pack is still empty.

That’s how she was able to show some features that they weren’t able to show us in the live stream or the trailer. So you saying that she didn’t really doesn’t make any sense
There isn't enough gameplay for the price. Maybe the viewpoint is coming from playing different games and comparing Sims 4. But other game developers can deliver full games at the same price that they're charging for EPs with rabbit holes. As much as I love Sims 4's potential the math isn't mathing but Ik modder's will fix it so looking forward to that.
Also, playing with all thenother packs ect, i have one Sim in University, one working and pregnant and one who is a dedicater ranch farmer! My house is so busy!

I love this pack! It's a must-have pack for me. So glad to finally have horses and I'd irl live in Chestnut Ridge. Some of the creator builds in the gallery are breathtaking as well. Love love love it! ❤️

How are creators games so polished, the version of this pack I got is glitchy and has empty action bubbles, I can’t see traits or breeds, I don’t know what to do about it because the action bubbles are literally just empty white little bubbles 😢 disappointing

This isn’t the worse pack by a long shot. Definitely looking forward to playing this when I can buy at a reasonable price. Its repetitive at this point, but I’m a gamer and definitely can’t justify this price compared to other games in this price range.

Im a indigenous sim user, played since i was a young kid. I feel happy :)
I didn't think I wanted the horses but now they're so cute...wil purchase soon.
My first expressions of the pack are positive. It fits my playstyle well. The lots being small doesn't bother me because the surroundings have everything you need to train the horse and some other useful stuff too. The surroundings seem more useful here than in most worlds. The gameplay around the cave is surprisingly good. It's the best rabbithole we've had in the game. You have to do more than just enter it to actually progress further in it. You can place the sign (which lets you go to competitions, take small jobs etc) on your lot too if you wish (no cheats needed). I haven't tried it in other worlds yet, but it might be a way to more easily access those features from other worlds.
I don't know if this is a bit of a niche thing, but the thing that has bothered me so far is just that there doesn't seem to be any honey nectar. I think it would need Seasons, but it would have been a good opportunity for pack intergration and I'm assuming wouldn't have been too difficult to implement. As a Finnish person I would have loved to make honey nectar and pretend it's sima/mead. (Even better if it had both honey and lemon. Nowadays sima is usually made with sugar and not honey, though, but historically it had honey and other types of meads still have honey.)

From what I’ve played, it’s not so bad. The negative reviews seem sort of picky and exaggerated but I suppose it depends on what each player is looking for. I think it’s a cute pack! Overpriced as always though.

There is some more lore if you go into the characters sentiments, look at sienna's. The in depth gameplay is in the training of the horses and looking after them. Lilsimsie has a good review on the pack

Is that shade thing supposed to make your game look nice when your UI and sim portraits are broken like that? I'm surprised you can read the texts.
Not saying hints for next thing, but the conversation topics for TIME TrAVEL and living in a simulation are new!
What I dislike the most is how they didn’t use the packs already out to tie in the gameplay for this pack. A huge missed opportunity
