I would be more impressed if you had painted an already white portion with this coolant paint and did a test between the white painted part vs/ the cool painted part - I saw several videos testing insulation paint and it turns out the cooling effect only comes about because the surface is white, not because of the coolant or insulation itself.
Wow. All our lives we're inundated with remarks about not wearing black clothing versus light colored clothing because of temperature differences but I always just ignored it. This really brings it home! Great videos as usual!
La característica que más aislamiento térmico aporta es el color. El color blanco refleja todo el espectro de rayos del haz de luz y no absorbe ninguno, sólo por el color puedes tener diferencias de 30° a 40° grados centígrados. The feature which more termal sealant offers is colour. White colour is the one which reflects all colours so offers the best temperature in summer. Just colour. I've been working in the metal pannel industry for rooofing and we just know white can offer more than 30º degrees diference against red or green o black, which is the worst in tests we made with a laser termometer to sheets exposed to sunlight at midday.
@Containing Luxury How much did the 5-gallon bucket of STA-KOOL Paint cost and where did you purchase it??? How many Sq. Ft. does a 5-gallon bucket cover? Ummm...maybe including a simple *LINK* in your Video Description to the Manufacturer's Online Product Page would be a good idea, or at least showing the Product Label on the bucket in your video??? And what were the OTHER THERMAL PAINTS that you tested AND how did they compare??? Thanks for the test.
I cut a hole in a trailer wall to put in a window in the hot sun the outsise was painted cool to the touch but the inside next to insulation would burn you moral of this story paint both sides before instali ng exterior pannels if posible !
You should be aware that IR temperature measurements have to take into account the emissivity of the material being measured and that factor corrected for. Low emissivity will measure lower with an IR gun and high emissivity read more nearly correct. When we do thermography we have to make allowances for emissivity and when measuring metal objects we often put a small piece of black electrical tape on and measure that as it's emissivity is close to 100%. Shiny metal measures lower as it's emissivity is low, unless it is reflecting another heat source, like the sun for example. Several years ago I spent a week in a training class to become a certified thermographer and these things are important! Screwy readings are often the result of poor technique. Aiming a gun or a camera at a source is not enough to be able to tell what is going on.
I follow your vids and enjoy your channel... But c'mon. You can build these beautiful container homes, but you can't figure out how to change therm gun settings from Celsius to Fahrenheit?
I would be interested in seeing the results once there is actually climate control in the container. You're getting ambient air temps inside and outside. that could be affecting your Delta.
This is not an appropriate test. There will be less thermal energy absorbed from a standard white paint compared to a dark and rusty unpainted surface. A true test of the performance of this pain with other standard coatings would be comparing it with another standard white paint.

As an Englishman, I appreciated the Celsius! Great videos as ever!

Thank you for the experiment! Wow what a difference, i mean we all know white reflects heat yet this proves it! Appreciate you.
Can you provide the paint product name and specs and where you purchased it? Interesting video.
Elastomeric roof coating (white) typically lasts 10 or 20 years sometimes longer depending on how thick the coating is applied and maintained.

10 on 10 in terms of quality video. Love from india

I think only about $100 and Home Depot :)
Good day Sir, thank you for the information, we appreciate your videos, Sir where do we buy this paint. Kind Regards . Jan De Villiers
Hi thank you for sharing you videos, blessing to all! what material did you use to cover the joint on the roof from container to container?
When we seemed two together in The Texas build we used 1/4” by 4” flat stock steel we welded to the two containers and then water proofed it!
Awesome proof that you can change temperature with a simple expensive paint.
That’s crazy you could sit on that roof spot and be cool

How many gallons of Sta-Kool did it take you to paint the roof?
Can it be use inside???
I bet you'd get the same readings with just white paint...
You do get similar but the stay cool is very thick and does preform a bit better
They just painted alot of NYC roofs with this stuff
4:02 Send us the link to that Thermo Gun please
can you use it on the inside as well ?
it works by reflecting light so that you can avoid that energy turning into a hot surface. it won't have any such effect inside a house

But how does this translate into reality? I mean how much cooler is the house in reality and how much savings in electricity?
But you have sun beating down on the roof ??
where can you find this paint?
Home Depot or Lowe’s

I agree. Maybe he can do a similar video comparing it to just white paint
😂 why don't you do the test for us?
How many coats of paint were put on?
Mehh.. white paint in itself is reflective.
Paint one side with normal paint then other with additive.
Hoha. Whole lot to wade through for what
Without a comparison to just plain white paint this review is pretty much useless.
😂 why don't you do it then, be useful instead of criticizing
Like testing white with rusty colors. This test about nothing, do proper testing next time LOL 😂
