I think his 2008 album ' a larum' is one the finest folk albums of all time ...he didn't quite replicate that, all very good mind you but I do really love his new album ...he never sold his soul and never went mainstream with his music , kudos for that
I am 71 and recently bought every album available and am printing lyrics and chords and learning to play his his stuff just like I am with Dylan, VanZandt, Prine…
Had no idea Johnny was a singer and musician until I saw him this morning taking part in the D Day 80 commemorations in Normandy. Love his voice, very distinctive.
How did I not know he could sing? He's such a lovable actor & seeing he has 2 kiddos w/ a beautiful redhead & seemly is a good guy, that makes me even more a fan!
He’s one of those rare artists that I really watch every live version I can find online because I get something new out of each rendition as well as the recording. Really a once-in-a-generation artist.
I *almost* flew up to New York for a show he was doing about four years ago. Not going is legitimately one of my biggest regrets. I’d do anything for a chance to see him live.
I’ve had this album on repeat from the moment it graced my ears. You know when an album is everything you need and arrives at just the right time in your life? This is it. It’s been a wonderful healing experience. Thanks Johnny, Robert and all the talented folks that created this beauty.
I came to the universe of Johnny Flynn through Detectorists which i found during covid. This guy is so lovely. And its exactly because the pretense of just about anything seems tb repellant to him. He seems protective of his inner and private life and also compelled to describe that life. Mixtures of pain, joy, important and mundane. I have adhd also and i relate to the compulsion to create. So glad this guy is around.
Just as good live as recorded in a studio (if not better!), my friend introduced me to Johnny's music about a decade ago after paying £5 to watch him live in a pub (I believe in Newcastle), we'd be so lucky to have that experience now. Amazing artist 👌
First rate performance as usual!! I enjoyed the various camera angles, and the sound quality was extra nice. The new album is expansive and rich on every level, I’m one happy fan of many.
I keep coming back to this, so beautiful as are all the songs on the new record. I'm always partial to the more pared-down arrangements that he brings with his acoustic performances as well. Really looking forward to hearing more (hopefully soon!) Lots of love for JF!

(Edit: it might be played in double drop D tuning - however standard tuning works as well, I guess)
After watching the Disney Genius Series, in which he portrays a young Albert Einstein, I looked for him here. Excellent musician, artist, writer, and actor.👏👏
Just watch the movie EMMA. He is the leading male character. He also wrote the theme song of the movie. Also watch the british tv series called Lovesick. If you want more info you need to pay me.
There's something innate and eternal about Johnny Flynn's music. Like it's always existed and he just excavated it.
what a comment!
Bullseye!!!!
something something Detectorists, something something The Dig
That's because it's in our bones. It's English folk music. The Saxons were playing the same melodies and rhythms. It's part of who we are.
Johnny Flynn is a great actor and even better musician. I really hope his music will get more recognition!
Ele é incrível e versátil 😮❤

I feel the same
Can't get enough of his music. He's truly a storyteller.

Which songs did he sing there?
@elchwiesel He only sang one song and I don't know what it was.
@@elchwiesela little late but I still want to answer 😊, the song was Song With No Name.
This guys voice is amazing!!!

This guys music seems so oft to come as if language that seems older than human chit chat! Go Johnny go👍
He really is the best folk singer today ❤️
unconditionnaly in love with Johnny's voice. This album is soul moving and touches me every time I listen.

Oh, this guy...yeah he's just the best male contemporary folk singer out there right now ✌️
😳
God this is just so predictable....very vanilla.
Posh boy pretending to be Johnny Cash. You can't buy being Working Class!
His 1st album is his best work.
He's not at all 'posh" -if you know his background.
@@siouxpeden3353 I dont think he is posh. But what is his background?
@@friendship6668 His dad was actor Eric Flynn who was later was out of work. Johnny won scholarships through music for his education.
@@siouxpeden3353 I recently found out his half brother played Bronn in GOT. Didnt knownhis dad was in the arts too
