I remember the Arriva bendy buses in Malta. Arriva Malta in itself was a disgrace but overall the bendy buses really caused lots of troubles here in Malta. And whilst awaiting scrap in Malta, they even caught fire in a static situation, as they hadn't moved for some years
First Group in Manchester had several of these dangerous buses as well. There were a few of them in use at Manchester Airport, on terminal to car park transfers. *Fun fact* If you watch series 1 of The Mallorca Files, (programme Friend Henry), there's a scene with a Citaro bus heading back to the depot near Palma airport.
Nice little report and find on what now is a rare type of bus still in service (Brighton has some of the type). I didn’t mind the back seat ride in this case; there was a bit of a forward view and it was good to see the articulation at work. When the bendibuses ran in service in London, route 436, run by Go-Ahead, became known as 4 free 6, where the letter ‘f’ substituted ‘th’ (in some cases ‘v’ as feather becomes ‘fever’) in pronunciation. This was because those buses with three doors were seen as free entry.
In Bath we used to have Wright Eclipse Fusion bendy buses going on the Uni route and they really hauled a lot of people up the hill, it's a shame they're all gone, they use bendy buses a lot more on the continent, I wonder why there was a bit of a phase and they went in London and then slowly faded away in the rest of the country, and we just have hardly any now, they do have many real advantages over double deckers (though trams are the best)
@Chiltern Transport Productions They didn’t. Most want to Malta, a few went to Liverpool, I think for something at the airport, leaving a small few for Leicester and EMA.
The 2022 CapaCityL (21M long) has a better turn in angle than these models and it's two rear axels turn with the front wheels so it can get the angles. The CapaCityL 2022 also has Automatic Snow and Ice correction and rear cabin swing correction.
I haven't seen these buses in 10 years. I definitely going to find one.
Nice to see these still going they used to do uni routes and I had fun on them
Aye it was very tired but still was doing a good job!

All Arriva Midlands' bendies are scrapped now, sliced in half at Shelton Motors back in November 2021.
Oh thats a shame, must have sampled this one just before it was withdrawn!
Never knew they still existed lol
