Indeed! This driver was particularly heavy footed but in hindsight I wish I took several rides between Palmers Green and Winchmore Hill that night in order to get more videos like this! London Citaros never got to that speed normally!
Watching this video brings back good memories when I was young and nowhere to go and just enjoy the sounds of buses and learn new routes around London. Thanks 🙏
I drive a 57 reg ones of these plus 12m non bendy versions. The bendys defo have more umph in them but the engines so far away from the driver, that we cant hear whats its doin!! thanks for posting! its nice to hear!!
This bus was testing in Manhattan back in 2009 as a demo bus. Unfortunately Orion went out of business. I really hope they make a revival. Would love to see the Citaro artic in the U.S.
@tempy85 qui a bologna i citaro vanno come nel video, ma ovviamente dipende dal modo di guida dall'autista se spinge oppure no. cmq le serie vanno dalla 15xx e 16xx suburbani e 14xx extraurbani!!
Thanks! These are missed - well comfy and sometimes driven like this one, especially at night. The 108 buses are a lot of fun to ride and drive though!
I wish Abellio had 18m Mercedes Benz Citaro on the 188 back then. Metrobus, Stagecoach, London Central, Abellio, London United, Metroline, First London and Arriva could of had much more on many Southeastern and Southwestern London bus routes.
I did go to New York in 2016 but all the buses seemed to be electric or gas - I was in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Are there any around with diesel engine?
Right now the mta has new Hybrid New Flyer Xde40s and Nova LFS HEVS We have 10 New Flyer Xe60s. We have a good amount of Nova and New Flyer bendies straight diesel
In 2009, New York City Transit would have had a golden opportunity to get the Citaro articulated model into their fleet , if Orion Bus Industries did not end up terminating their operations.😣
Driver is loving this bus

@@KickdownLondon I had some fun rides on the Stagecoach “25”Citaros… many times!
The sound of this engine is music to my ears
Watching this video brings back good memories when I was young and nowhere to go and just enjoy the sounds of buses and learn new routes around London. Thanks 🙏
Yes, at Palmers Green it went down the North Circular to the Great Cambridge roundabout then came back on itself for reasons unknown
That's a fantastic driver. Full kick-downing a Citaro!
Agreed, a once in a lifetime ride!
Best Citaros they ever had and its a shame all these bendies are gone, Great Kickdown
Thanks - is a one off as they are no longer running in London. Very fond of the Citaro's engine note however!
One is preserved by Nathan Bentham & Jonny Eaves. MA18 (BX04 MXS)
Thanks! This one has a 6 speed ZF transmission. The 4 speed Voith equivalent can be found in the link posted in the description!
beautiful video "cbreezer15" and the full kick down was perfect!!!!
greetings from italy (bologna)
Thank you very much!
Beautiful kickdown!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This driver is Kickdowing the bus!
Without mercy!
I drive a 57 reg ones of these plus 12m non bendy versions. The bendys defo have more umph in them but the engines so far away from the driver, that we cant hear whats its doin!! thanks for posting! its nice to hear!!
Thanks, glad to share! Bet you felt like a king driving a Merc bus, I really want to try one!
Mercedes OM457...such a beast of an engine
Agreed!
This is the 906 engine, not 457.
The OM457s are found on the later Citaros
Pure hellfireness
Definitely the best Citaro ride I ever had!
Awesome Sound !!
Thanks, I liked it too!

Great video.☺️
We have Gillig BRT low floor buses in Norwalk Connecticut (Wheels Hub). I believe they use the Cummins engine and it sounds a lot like these
OM906hLA on a Citaro G!? very good!
Agreed! All of the London Citaros at the time had this engine!
KickdownLondon except the 453s Citaros, they were OM457
@tempy85 qui a bologna i citaro vanno come nel video, ma ovviamente dipende dal modo di guida dall'autista se spinge oppure no.
cmq le serie vanno dalla 15xx e 16xx suburbani e 14xx extraurbani!!
I miss these beasts, especially the ZF ones, don't really miss the voith ones
I miss them too, nice soft but beastly engine note - and fast!
Why don’t you miss the voith ones?
Great video! It’s a shame that these aren’t in London anymore but at least there are the shorter examples at MG for the 108
Thanks! These are missed - well comfy and sometimes driven like this one, especially at night. The 108 buses are a lot of fun to ride and drive though!
@jin9333 solo le versioni suburbane (serie 81xx) e in parte le interurbane (60xx)
@kieron1997 I like the new phrase 'Kickdownage'
i wish our bus driver, drive like this good dude!
You should try to drive the mercedes 408. The most sporty bus ever. From 0 to 90 in just 15-16 seconds full throttle!!!
That's very fast! Would love to drive a Mercedes, not managed it yet!
I wish Abellio had 18m Mercedes Benz Citaro on the 188 back then. Metrobus, Stagecoach, London Central, Abellio, London United, Metroline, First London and Arriva could of had much more on many Southeastern and Southwestern London bus routes.
4:00❤️❤️
Very impressive kickdown and thrash 50 mph
Is this zf ecomat
Yeah, the older ZF Ecomat transmission. I was glad I was able to experience this in London and surprised it ran along the North Circular!
@@KickdownLondon that's amazing
Sat in a normal Citaro(voith) the other day, the driver rev it so hard that the box refused to change up every single time.
Did you get to record it?
I see this sounds way better than our Nova Buses only in NYC
I'd like to hear one of the Novas - any good videos?
@@KickdownLondon just type in NYC Nova LFS-A. We have gotten this bus model over a period of approximately 11 years
Were all the speed cameras on the Camden Road switched off? :) Serious thrash!
Exactly
They must have been, this driver hammered the thing the whole way!
Running Early
Possibly!
Wooow !
Felt the same way when riding the bus!
@tempy85 anche a roma i citaro vanno così???
Was this bus on a diversion or something all I'm seeing is that iBus going into star mode? lool
I think there were roadworks at the Palmers Green junction so the bus was forced onto the A406. Wish I had taken several rides now!
voith gearbox? it resembles a lot to mercedes citaro of atac rome. Nice video XD.
This one was 6 speed ZF - check this for a Voith example - ruclips.net/video/u1BDsEb5Xzo/видео.html
And thank you, very glad you enjoyed it!
👍
I can't tell if these are ecolife or ecomat they sound like both :)
Why in UK there are no CNG buses? =)
Riccardo Borlenghi there are now but there are very expensive
were u driving the bus? also are u a bus driver or u just film the buses?
I wasn’t driving this one!
@@KickdownLondon oh i thought u were
Come to New York. You can ride on our Nova and New Flyer bendies.
I did go to New York in 2016 but all the buses seemed to be electric or gas - I was in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Are there any around with diesel engine?
@@KickdownLondon sorry for my long delay in replying. Yes we have a good amount of diesel left
Right now the mta has new Hybrid New Flyer Xde40s and Nova LFS HEVS

Good old bus better then New routemaster
In 2009, New York City Transit would have had a golden opportunity to get the Citaro articulated model into their fleet , if Orion Bus Industries did not end up terminating their operations.😣
That's a shame - what did they get instead?
What horse power
was the driver driving full throttle ?
Most of the time he was!
LOL. Sounded like a Voith...
This one is a Voither - ruclips.net/video/u1BDsEb5Xzo/видео.html
I don't know that London's aversion to Citaros is, but it's not a good one.
One person don't know what a real Kickdown sounds like
