Unlike many other hunting shows, where everyone is trying to out-man the next guy, MeatEater is genuine. Building a blind, asking questions, are all things that people go through, that other shows miss. Showing all aspects of being there, including vulnerabilities, is what makes this show connect with viewers, in a way that other shows don't.
@@MrSchwach The more you shoot and know what the rifle can do verses you can do, is key. That bullet will exit that animal before you let go of the trigger. Follow through is a big thing. Getting used to recoil and managing it, is key too.

@@noahhorinek I just shoot righty rifles. The tang safety’s are a blessing. I found a certain way to quickly get my bolt worked. It’s far from ideal, but money was tight when I bought my .308 savage. My next rifle will be lefty.
This episode is by far one of my favorites! These ladies are super cute, green and ecstatic ti be there. Concerned about ethical kills and harvesting what we all have grown to love. Awesome
Every time Steve shows up on the Duren property, I am taken back by just how much I wish every land owner / manager would take up his philosophy on when to take a deer and how to manage a property.
Watching this in 2024 as bow season comes around the corner in Wisconsin and as someone who hunts in the driftless area this always brings a smile to my face this is what huntings about having fun and learning and surrounding yourself with some good friends.
Introducing and having these ladies do a hunt gives me hope for America, we are drifting away from these experiences and nothing would do me more good to see my granddaughters take an interest in hunting and the shooting sports your shows are not only the best out there what you and your team are doing is fantastic
I grew up shooting a little Savage .22, I was hitting shotgun shells with iron sights 40-50yds away. I was NOT prepared for my first lever action, just your every day .45-70.
I really like this video and appreciate it, I have no negativity when I say that trespassing via projectile is a real thing(some states): for all you at home in the woods shooters.
This is my favorite episode…I love to shoot and have been away from it since I retired. I have seen this probably 12 times and will see it 12 more. 🤣🥾🥾🐾🐾🥰
I came across Meat Eater last year on Netflix and even though Steve doesn't really bowhunt the tactics he utilizes has changed how I approach each hunt: from pre season to the rut
My dad and I have been talking about learning to hunt. We're both pretty comfortable in the outdoors, though I wouldn't call ourselves masters of anything, especially with the lockdowns kinda making the whole family a little soft and cozy, but now we really want to take steps toward self-sufficiency, rather than relying on commercial supply chains to feed us. But I'm a 23 year old female, and I always saw hunting as a kind of boys' club that I wasn't allowed into. This is giving me a little more confidence to think differently.
Great episode!! Seeing a woman, or couple of women out there hunting is really a great thing. There aren't many out there, or maybe I just haven't saw them as of yet.......
This is a great learning video for beginners. They should always have an experienced hunter with them. Can not wait to see if the other girl got her deer.
Nice deer that Helen got even with all the bigger bucks I've taken over the years I still wouldn't have passed on that one eather good shooting and another good eating buck for the table congrats 😁😁
Never seem an episode of meateaterthat I've been disappointed in, in the least Watch everything with Meateater attached to it. Duck Camp Dinners was great!
I cant help but feel misogynistic by being more excited for these 2 ladies than I am for any guy Steve has introduced to hunting. I dont know if thats the right word but there's something more entertaining about seeing a female; a traditionally softer, kinder and nurturing gender, shoot their food right in the heart. It's great!
Steve’s learned how to hunt like I did, if you can hit a coke can, you can go hunting. The rest is trial and error. I like that he’s being more thorough, teaching the ladies how to be truly ethical hunters, and there’s no shame in not taking a shot. I passed on a beautiful bull this September, I couldn’t shoot because he was behind some tree limbs, I beat myself up over it, but hearing steve say things like don’t shoot if you’re not comfortable puts my mind at ease over my decision.
First deer I ever shot at was 25 years ago. I was handed the rifle and put in a stand, and told the bullet hits where the crosshair is. I couldn’t tell you the caliber, only that I shot and missed. What I learned that day is definitely don’t let your first shot with a rifle be at the deer haha. Range time is necessary no matter how on point the scope is
thats because they got permission to shoot the first deer they see since they are relatively new, rather than making a more experienced hunter wait for a mature buck.
You'll see lots of squirrels until you actually hunt for them, then they disappear. Should send the tails into Mepp's for lure making and have an episode where you go fishing with the lures paid for by squirrel tails.
As far as the squirrel hunting episode goes. He mentioned taking the squirrel tail and putting it on the antenna of your car. I would not do that I used to do it years ago until the neighborhood cats started getting up there to get that tail and breaking the antenna off my truck all the time

When she said "I think I missed it"... We've all been there. Questioning a great shot.
Beautiful way to word it
Well said !! Cheers!!

It's because Steve is a real hunter, not a trophy hunter with no morals.
Being Steve's friend must be awesome. "I want to improve my shooting." "Alright, I'll call up my buddy who was a sniper instructor, he'll sort you out."
Being Dougs friend would be just as much if not more of a privilege IMHO
My dad was a Marine sharpshooter. I hit a golf ball off a t with at 60 yards my compound bow after a pint of black velvet and 2 beers
@@dustinh4175 that’s really awesome man, fuck this guy ^^^
It's hard for a knuckle-dragger like me to put into words how much I love this show!
Damn straight!
Knuckle-dragger? You mean a black guy like you?
I love when these girl's go out hunting with Steve. So many times I'm laughing at something said. More with Helen and Brittany please!!
I second that!
Love watching first time deer hunters...reminds me of myself 45 years ago...you never forget the first deer
8:42am, October 28, 2022. My first deer at 34yrs old. My trusty .45cal ML at about 60yds, best $200 gun I ever bought.
@@bullgravy6906 nice bud.... Welcome to the club.
I just noticed, Steve shoots left handed. Beautiful place to hunt, not much can beat Wisconsin with snow on the ground during gun season.
Missourian here, and have to admit, it's quite a sight there!
@Ruska It bothers me too and I'm a lefty shooter smh
@Ruska so many rifles that don't work for me. Had to build a custom one to get what I wanted

Just passed my BC core and got my hunting licence. I wanna thank all of you.
A little late hope u have a great session ... Congrats on entering the happy fusrations Failures and success of the hunter.. good luck
Always good to see Doug pull out the spotted cow!

This is my favorite show. Period. I get to learn and be entertained at the same time.
Rinella is a great man
Omg! The suspense!!!! How long I gotta wait now ….
So bs..... its a long week! I just clicked again to see if part one was released a week ago yet....few more days to part 2...
That’s 2 for 2 for Helen. 👌
Love seeing Helen and Brittany again!

Absolutely agree with shooting the 22 to relieve some of that boom anxiety from the high power rifles. Great video. Thank you

I grew up in the Driffless region, absolutely beautiful area. I've moved out west now but always miss home.
Great to see the ladies out and about!
I grew up just 45 minutes from Casanova, WI. Beautiful country. My cousin has a farm not far from there. Huge amounts of deer there.
I really like this video and appreciate it, I have no negativity when I say that trespassing via projectile is a real thing(some states): for all you at home in the woods shooters.
I can watch this over and over because I teach new hunters
Doug Duren you the man truly giving back
Keep helping our girls to get in here and enjoy.
my favorite hunting show, thanks steve.
Another great video man, meat eater is my favorite hunting channel,I just love how genuine Steve is

Very nice episode.. But Steve is playing the cheeky bugger with everyone.
every one is out of their element here and its fun to watch haha
I should have had you sign my book when you were in lander wy at the mule deer foundation thing (: keep up the good work
@19:05 I think Doug has been leaking in the snow LOL There's a big yellow spot in front of the blind.
One think we know for sure about Doug Duren is that he definitely brought up how good New Glarus is to them, at least 3 times.
Those .22s have some serious optics going on
I love the Helen and Brittany videos!
Watching your channel inspired me to enter this years draw, and I got lucky with a deer tag. Any suggestions? Hope I'm as lucky and get a nice buck
Hi from Syracuse NY everyone
Greetings from Norway
Cant wait till the next episode

Bring on part 2!
Yes a New Wisconsin video my state
When the land owner is good. You know that you a special place. This man knows how to make his guests feel like family. I appreciate it so much
Looked like the owner had a Remington speed master 22lr. My papaws favorite

Love all the stuff from this channel but I was always thought to have a back stop for fire arms and would never discharge a rifle without one.
Part 2? I’m down with duck hunting but I need the second part to this one.
Steve the most smart n cool hunter i know:)
Good show
The suspense!
Love it.
This show is amazing in so many ways
Let's go I needed something to watch
Those squirrels have a cool colour... in ontario they are usually jet black or white 🇨🇦
They’re fox squirrels, not pine (red) squirrels or grey squirrels
Love the videos
I wish i could go on my first deer hunt again. Id do it every year. Lol
They never mentioned the white sombrero. Hit me up if you’re a real meat eater fan and know what I’m saying.

For me the internet served all my needs. Started in 2020. How was your season?

not a bad video from 2015!
I guess Steven psyched himself out. Doug seemed to think that was easily a top row buck. 🤣 What a missed chance.
If it was the same buck lol most likely was
Is that the ol Remington Speedmaster 22 that Doug's squirrel hunting with??
Doug’s Pro tip ….. “Shoot” ! 🤣
That looked c, c, c, c, coooold!
That's a huge squirrel
Those are pretty tight groups.
It's cool you guys did a Marvel collaboration. Helen looks a little different than in Age of Ultron but cool!
😋🤣😂😁
Get them the bog pod. Death grip is an awesome platform to shoot accurately from
It's kind of nice now in Wisconsin you dont have to have back tags that catch on everything and make noise. Lol.
Every meal I have made for friends ended up this same way. Don't be offended because you broke out the good napkins. Just go with it.
