Margo Price: SXSW 2016 | NPR MUSIC FRONT ROW

- Margo Price's debut album, Midwest Farmer's Daughter, is full of hard-bitten country-rock odes to drink and trouble - the sort of thing you'd hear either 50 years ago or on the leading edge of country music today. Thankfully, her long underdog story, which includes a hocked wedding ring and a new home on Jack White's Third Man label, has finally led her to stages the size of this one at Stubb's in Austin, Texas. There, performing at NPR Music's SXSW showcase on March 16, Price and her crack band tore through an eight-song set that culminated in her breakthrough single: "Hurtin' (On The Bottle)," a rousing but disarmingly poignant anthem about, well, drink and trouble.
Setlist
"About to Find Out"
"Tennessee Song" 3:05
"Paper Cowboy" 8:36
"Four Years Of Chances" 13:54
"Hands Of Time" 18:47
"Desperate & Depressed" 23:22
"This Town Gets Around" 26:57
"Hurtin' (On The Bottle)" 30:27

Great songs and performance and now 7 years later she has made so many amazing records and wrote an autobiography, "Maybe We'll Make It" and she has. Amazing artist and band.
I love this woman! She sings with pure heart and guts. I feel like she's just pouring emotion out on stage. Her band is an outstanding complement to her talent.
my entire life changed because of her. drinking burbon by the haysteck.
I am proudly weaing a Margo t now and look forward to her doing a large free outdoor show in my city this fall.
The KEXP session brought me here. I am finally excited about country music again!!!
What a great band. I love hearing all those instruments being played amazing.
I love this lady's singing. I am going to buy her CD.
When I finish listening to this concert I'm going to buy some of their music.
I'm going to buy a cowboys hat :D
@@slovakredneck5418 I'm going to buy some haysteck
The SXSW sound engineers are the best. Everyone sounds better there than almost anywhere else.
nice to hear a natural voice as opposed to the over produced auto tuned vocals we get fobbed off with on daytime radio. full marks to margo and the band.
Excellent. One of the best shows. This woman should be a huge star.
Lets hear it for the band too! Great combo and yes...real country music!!! Hope she keeps it up!
She and her band sound great live. I prefer this than her studio release.
I just don't get Nashville. Why would it be so hard for this girl to get noticed? Did she piss off the wrong people? Does she not write about trucks enough (to that I'd add a loud THANK YOU!)? I'm glad she is finding her place. She deserves it. This whole album is great. I'd put her up there with Stapleton, Isbel, and Sturgill.
She's not Country-Pop. Also see lyrics for "This Town Gets Around"
I agree so much. She is incredible and rare.
She is incredible.
Two things though about Nashville -- you can go on Broadway and find a good 3-4 women that are close to this at any time..........plus it won't sell.
I'll still love it though :)
llama40204 she's to real
Canadian Jack White. He brought back vinyl!
She's the real deal. Also one of the nicest people.
So glad I'll be seeing her in July!!! Can't wait
I hope she gets some radio airplay. She's very good.
Got me Enjoying the move of hearing your beautifully Voice Country Singer, Kiss 💋you if I could!!!
Thanks to Marc Maron's podcast for introducing me to this incredible artist!
Maron's WTF podcast is great. He has turned me on to a lot of great musicians, comedians, and a shitload of just interesting people. The interview with Margo was my introduction to her also and I'm thankful for it. Can't get enough of this talented woman. She plays real country music like it used to, and still should be played. Hope she has a long career
Love her. An angel..
Saw her on Charlie Rose and she just amazes one ! Charlie was certainly charmed.. invited her back and they seemed to click right at the start.. Very talented young woman. She sure makes one think of the lady singers from the 50's !! And she writes her own stuff !! xox
Good show Margo ! ❤❤❤
Haven't seen you in a Longtime, Angel!!!
I have commented about how she is the new Loretta or Tammy. In hindsight, I think that is unfair. Margo is an undeniable talent in her own right.
Fantastic performance.
The new Lorreta! Love it jack white can turn anything to gold!
Sorry for the misspelling of the Queen of Country fried Rock and Country Blues!!!!
Now THIS is country! Great!
love her! greatness
Saw her last night on Americana awards. New fan.
LOVE YOU MARGO PRICE 😍😍😍😍
I about gave up on country music 20 years ago. It's back!! Exaggerated southern drawls layered over pop isn't country imo. This band is fantastic!
Jack, great sound! Tennessee, hear just a touch of Hawkes and Doves with the background singers. Ear worms.
AMAZING SINGER AND AMAZING WOMAN 🎈🎈🎈
Good music
Love, Love, Love her music. I would love to hear her do a duet with Willy Nelson.
check out her singing Me and Bobby Magee with Kris Kristofferson at the Newport Folk Festival. Its floating around RUclips. It isn't Willie but its about the next best thing
This lady is awesome
Lots of positive comments, all sound like the same person. Hive mind is strong. Noone can think for themselves.
Obsessed.
Looking for some tour dates in CA!
this is real country music at last someone actually sings country maybe its not lost after all. she likes Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette.
good luck on SNL this weekend
+Grant Z Price I happened to catch the show...
OK...I think I just got Countrified...
They were great...She's way cool.
The real thing!!!
She's touring with Chris Stapleton now. I had no idea who she was. She blew me away and I enjoyed her more than stapleton. Fresh clear view that makes think of fresh mountain air.
Good Kb. Player
Maybe country music isn't dead.....?
👍
How does this get a thumbs down?
Anthony Bourdain brought me here
Country is alive and well. Just not played on any so-called country radio station. Just because you wear a cowboy hat and boots mean you play country. Most of the stuff today sounds like the same old crap on the pop radio station.
12 people are listening to Blake Shelton
great set, band, songwriter and vocalist. bad mic choice for Margo though.
There's too much focus on the singer in these country bands. A bit of posturing by the backing band might spread the love around maybe? Poor old Margot had to do all the work here. She's great for sure, don't get me wrong, but share it around maybe?
No thanks
+Sherman Watson More for me
+Sherman Watson What's the matter? too much talent? I understand. I don't fault you
+Martin Yes, she does. I thought I was replying about something else. She's amazing!
+Jan Schumacher I made this comment by mistake. She's awesome!
to bad her singing is so... well lacking.
+HTP 04041 are you serious, man?
+ansgarness He's not, hes a troll. Dude probably can't sing the ABC's but he thinks he's an authority on singing. idiot.
you prefer some auto tuned no talent???? boo!
