    As it turns out... this plane is no less of a performer in the air than the Crosswind Pro was, despite its smaller size and lighter weight! The flight stability certainly is comparable and the overall flight performance is very impressive, especially when you get to flying in turbulent conditions! Stall is very manageable and the plane does not get into a spiral, and the moment the elevator is released, it would just keep going straight, which does improve my confidence in it! The plane has great potential, and I will certainly spend a good time throughout the winter months, fully realising it!

    Everything sounds great. A nice tip for you. When gluing, use saran wrap around the plane to hold it together. If you can find a shorter roll, cut it in half.
    You're welcome.

    Maybe people complain because they do launch with one hand and the thickness just adds drag when theres no need. Probably part of the reason that the efficiency suffers a bit too. The old Twinstar 2 can run for 90 minutes on 4S2P with a gopro on the nose too. That's a lot less battery for the same amount of flight time! The Crosswind Mini is still a good plane though.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 года назад

      OK... but can the Twinstar carry any useful payload? Sadly at this day and ago a plane of this size can hardly afford to not also be designed for mapping, especially coming from a company that now has a history of such models! With all these regulations coming into effect... mapping capability would be a major selling point in the future, because that would be the main thing these are used for... since not all people would be willing to get licences, pay for registration and insurance... just to fly FPV with a plane!

  • @iforce2d
    @iforce2d 5 лет назад

    Regarding your comments on Gary's podcast today, there is something wacky about the current sensor setup in Mission Planner on the main 'wizard' page, I have given up on that completely. Try setting the AMPS_PER_VOLT (or something like that) value in the full parameters list directly.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 года назад

      Hmmmmmm... that is a good tip... when I muster up the courage... I will give it a try! Am about to install the F405 Wing in the Clouds... got any idea what AMPS_PER_VOLT should be on that FC, or where I can find that out?

    Hope you get this message, as your video post was a long time ago...I just bought an MFD Crosshair Autopilot, setting it up for analog camera FPV. I would like to transition to digital (DJI HD) camera system. Do you know if this will work with the MFD Crosshair? Have you tried it? You are the only FPV pilot I can find that has used the most recent MFD Crosshair AP. Thank you!

    hello arxangel I need help setting up all the electronics on my crosswind mini. I have already built it and installed the 2 motors and I also have all wires ran through the wire channels. when I initially connected everthing and turned the power on for the first time there was no sparks or smoke. the esc's would just constantly beep ever few secs. I have the auto pilot and everything that was included with it, I have a Tarantis transmitter w/ a r9stab reciever. I have a regular o fpv camera nothing special. as well as a small low power video vtx. I would really appreciate if you could help me get this thing In the air. thanks

    Is the big crosswind more efficient for long range than the mini ?

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 года назад +1

      Well... not sure, doubt it given that it has more surface area to create drag... BUT... it can carry a lot more battery capacity, which in the end might do just that!

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 года назад

      Hard to say! This is a smaller plane... easier to throw in the air! In terms of flight stability... this one is a tad better... but the Believer is very good as well!

    I have been building and flying long range fpv drones for a while now and want to get into planes. What would a good plane for long range flights be? This will be my first time flying planes so preferably one that flies good and takes off easy. I would also like a minimum of 45-60 minute flight. What do you recommend. Zohd xl?

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 года назад +1

      Hmmm... not really... in your case I would suggest something a bit tougher for those non-hover landings... the Ranger 2400 or Phoenix 2400 come to mind... both can be outfitted to fit your needs, and feature tough plastic fuselages. Especially the one on the Ranger is exceptionally resistant to abuse!

    Hi! could you tell me where is the cg and the minimum battery weight to be ok?

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 года назад +1

      CG is right at the front edge of the wiring channel! As for battery weight... that would depend on a number of factors - weight of gear you have chosen, weight of FPV system, weight of additional payload! Currently I am using a 900 gram 6S3P pack, and the plane is good weight wise. There is no minimum weight, as long as you are able to balance it at the CG!

    • @ArxangelRC

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 года назад +1

      Well except possibly for the Disco... none of the other planes are suitable for beginners to be honest! For starters you'd be much better off with a trainer type of plane, plus, you can learn all of what you want on it, before moving to something truly long range!

  • @arne1997
    @arne1997 5 лет назад

    Hey dude, I’m sorry but this question isn’t really relevant. I’m currently installing the old MFD Autopilot and am working on the current sensor. In the manual it says that you should connect the ground leads as close to each other on the current sensor as possible, because the current sensor strip which is used for the ground leads would burn through at >20A (Highlighted in the manual). But it also says there that this is without enhancing the strip with solder. So my question is, is it possible to enhance that strip with solder so that I can connect 2 xt60 connectors on either end of the current sensor without having to solder my esc to the current sensor and without it burning through?

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 года назад +1

      Yes, if you put enough solder on the strip, it should work well to that end, and it shouldn't burn!
