Robin, I just love watching you crochet. Your so smooth and no fluff. Was wondering if you could keep making this block real large? I wasn’t able to find the pattern, so have been writing everything down as you go..Blessings to you. Cathy
Thank you so much. I am just joining the heart balloon one and already excited to join them all and present it to the NICU hospital for a mother to take home. Hope they choose one that deserves it! ❤️❤️❤️
I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to start this blanket I have never done anything like this before and I want to give it to my 2 year old Godchild - thank you and Lisa for this amazing blanket :)
Thank you so much for detailed tutorial! I am a beginner at crochet world and your detailed tutorial helped me to do my first crochet art! Thank you and I am sure my girls will definitely love this lovely piece of crochet work.
I'm rewatching all these because I finally got to this project. Making this for my granddaughter for Christmas. She's 4. The perfect age to really appreciate it. I was very interested in this way of starting and finishing a filled in granny. I thought I'd try it out. I'm curious to see if I still like the way I do it. I'm now attaching the balloons...yay! Onto the next square.
Love your video, so concise and easy to follow. However the best bit for me is the magic ring. The best way I have seen, so easy! I won’t do it any other way again thanks so much. Really excited to make this blanket 🌸
Wow, Ive just finished number 2. Im so excited. Im just a learner buy your tutorials are incredibly great. I do have to say that your tension is fabulous. Mine looks pretty shabby compared to yours, A bit more 'holey!?' I know its me because I sent away for all the same wool that you have used, so Im following it to a T. Its defiantly taught me that my tension is very loose. Not sure what to do about it, but I'm still super excited. Maybe I'll get back with time. Thanks so much for these amazing tutorials. Loving them x
absolutely love that you have the time stamps.... one other crochet designer i follow does this also.. normally one of his followers does the work for him as a gift.. I can't wait to try this.. unfortunately i'm late for the CAL and I am currently working on a Wedding gift blanket so I don't have time to even try it yet.. I hope hope hope these tutorials will be here still when i get finished with my WIP I'm going to print out her patterns ASAP though..
I'm sure they will still be up on her site for a long while yet so don't panic! So glad the timestamps are a help; I've been trying to put in the extra effort to make things super easy for everyone! x
You can purchase from Stylecraft Lovecraft or from Woolwarehouse in the UK and their shipping is not too much as I am based in South Africa and I ordered mine last week and I always use the Woolwarehouse their shipping is 2 to 3 days
I’m having such a hard time with these but it looks so simple. I’m using cheap yarn that is fraying quite a bit and almost completely unraveled. Can this make it much harder or is it user error?
100% that can make things WAAAAY harder than they need to be, frayed yarn is an absolute nightmare so I don't think you are even in the slightest bit to blame here!
Excellent tutorial and teacher. Absolutely gorgeous. I'm starting this tomorrow. May I ask what sort of hooks you are using? You hold your hook exactly like me. There is a good decent shaft on your hooks. I am so so disappointed I treated myself this week to a new set of hooks ( pink colour beginning with T) the shaft is so small won't hold more than 3 stitches at a time. Beautiful smooth tapered hooks but too tiny even the handle is too tiny. Love from Ireland xxx Ann Marie
I use Clover Amour hooks - bit pricey but absolutely the best hooks I've found for my hand - I had some knit pro ones that were too short and dug into my hand 🤔 I've heard the Tulip hooks are nice but I've not tried them myself to compare to these Clover ones!
@@HookedbyRobin Thank you for your reply. Stick with what you have. I've also had same problem with Knit Pro these new ones are even shorter than Knit Pro. Like you I'm a kitter but I crochet with hook in my right hand hold the wool same as you too. My Grandmother taught me and she was right handed. Tulips from Amsterdam....don't bother. Full set gone to my friend today they go to 6mm.. I even ordered extra 6.5mm they do it in the aluminium. I wanted it to try your video tip as I have a load of pipsqueak wool which I couldn't use. Shaft won't cope with the double knit and the pipsqueak.I noticed your 6.5 wasn't aluminium does it run smooth on the hook? I've never used anything only aluminium. I'm sending away today for just 1 Clover to try it 6mm.I really want to try this pipsqueak I've 15 balls of it. Was reduced months ago to 50p a ball. Ann Marie xx
The lack of metal hooks for the larger sizes does annoy me slightly with Clover, I think they revert to plastic hooks because of the weight buuuut I found they are super smooth so not too much of an issue. That's why I'd looked into Tulip, they don't use plastic 😂 Also, going from the nice heavy 6mm clover to the lighter 6.5mm is a bit weird in my hand but I guess it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other! 🤷♀️
@@HookedbyRobin I've just finished this blanket of all your squares. I'm keeping it for myself( I'm in my second wit)it's a tonic just looking at it in my room. Thank you so much for your time and excellent teaching. Now getting back to the Hooks I bought every size of the Clover Amour hooks over the last few months. Their plastic from 6.5mm up to 15mm and the smaller sizes ah wish I'd had them years ago. Their larger sizes even though they're plastic the wool goes through them like butter. The smaller sizes are a dream too to use. Tulip hooks are no comparison. Just had to let you know as you so kindly replied to me 8 months ago when I asked what hooks you were using. I've also completed a pipsqueak blanket using pipsqueak and double knit together with 7mm clover amour using your top for pipsqueak. Be eternally grateful to you.Love all your videos. Thank you so much. Love from Ireland xxx Ann Marie .
I personally have bought 1 ball of each colour and a couple of white but I am not sure if that will be enough? Lisa has a post on her website about the yarn and amounts here: cutecrochetmakes.wixsite.com/cutecrochetmakes/post/fantastic-first-week 😀
Hi Robin, a great tutorial as always. So you will be making a tutorial for 10 of the squares or do you not know the exact number? Im just trying to figure things out, since I will not be making any of the squares from Lisa's written patterns....I dont read patterns.
Heya Michelle - at least 10 yes! I don't have the exact number yet (there is still one more week to go) and I have 12 lined up so far LOL!! Most of the remaining squares are either paid patterns or free ones from other designers. You can absolutely mix and match together and do more than one of each square for a blanket too if you prefer - I will only be making my blanket up from Lisa's patterns at this stage, I will probably add in some duplicates but with variations of the colours (if that makes sense?) 😀
Hooked by Robin Awesome! Thank you so much Robin. I noticed that all of your squares aren’t made the same, so once I make your square with the appliqués I’m going to be making a square in the same (solid) color. Oh yes, I will be making quite a few of the same squares, yours and solid ones. I will be starting later this week on my squares. I’m very excited, because I’ve never made appliqués before and this blanket is so adorable.
HI I love watching your tutorials and am quite new and have learnt a lot you have a good way of teaching as visually it really helps. I would like to attempt this blanket but cant find any links to find it. probably me as not that computer wise . could you put another link for me please. many thanks
You can see the full blanket (I think its 49 squares in total!! 😳 I won't be filming that many LOL!!) over on Lisa's website - she has lots of photos there 👍
I have a question. The written directions say to slst twice into previous round ch2 space, but your direction says 1, which is correct? Or doesn't it matter? Thanks. This is my first cal.
Hi. I have a doubt in joining the balloon.. As per the video we can stich only half of the balloon to the square root keep the tail in centre of the balloon.Isn't it?
her pattern for this says to slip stitch TWICE into the chain 2 space.... so i assumed that meant to do a two slip stitch together? in your video, you do one slip stitch....I dont think it matters, do you?
Have you seen all the other squares for the Unicorn Dreams Blanket CAL? *The full playlist is here* bit.ly/2lOIjrO 👈😀

Your tension is marvellous. My Solid Granny Squares are often slightly loose so look a bit “tender” rather than solid!

How long will those stitches hold up repeat washing? Such a lovely blanket -so want to try it. Great tutorial too!
Good question! Probably forever? LOL! The stitches will last as long as the crochet stitches they are attached to 🤷♀️😀 👍

How many of these sqares do I have to make for the blanket? Thanks for the tutorial, it was detailed and E

So for the heart I should use a double treble and a treble stitch, in UK terms?
Yay! I’ve been waiting for this. Where do I find that yarn? Thank you for the tutorial!

Ah yes sorry my mistake, I'm so used to just slip stitching once. Totally does not matter in the slightest! 👍

Easy and quick to do the first square 😊The worst is stitching of all of those beautiful squares 🙁
There is a LOT of sewing yes! The final outcome is very pretty though 😀
@@HookedbyRobin True, it pays off for, a very pretty final effect 😁
What type of yarn for heart balloons?
The yarn is size 3?
Hey what is the size of the whole square in inches?
What kind of yarn did you use
Stylecraft Special DK 👍
What letters are the 3 and 4 mm hooks sizes in the USA ?
4mm is a G6 but I can't find the information for the 3mm I'm afraid
Did you figure out the USA hooks?
Hi. I have a doubt in joining the balloon.. As per the video we can stich only half of the balloon to the square root keep the tail in centre of the balloon.Isn't it?
Stitch the entire balloon, then when the whole balloon is stitched, then bring the tail down to form the string 🙂
