Also; This totally flies in the face of what Eric said on 83 Weeks. From what I recall, Bisch claimed Hogie was awarded a 7 figure settlement. He did NOT however post any sort of url, or source to substantiate that. He claimed he couldn't speak at length about it, due to legal concerns. I'm starting to believe Russo more and more. This guy gets WAY TOO MUCH FLACK.
@cjetelomar2010 oh agreed. I'm a wcw nitro guy over wwf attitude and Russo's nitro was horrendous in my opinion BUT Bischoff lies constantly especially when it's to protect Hulk Hogan.
Hogan got a settlement from Turner, not from Russo. He won THAT suit.
If you believe Russo over Bischoff...man, I don't know what to say. At least Eric can tell a cogent story.
@@ahmerali222 I still need to see a credible source on this one. Otherwise, I'm not buying it.
@@chrismorgan8330 EXACTLY.
@cjetelomar2010 I believe anybody over Hogan...Hogan lies for fun
You know i was skeptical of Russo for years. But I listen to all sides of a story, and Russo's makes the most sense. Not to mention Russo backs everything up with proof. I also agree that younger and mid card talent needed to be pushed and the foundation of wcw rebuilt.
at the end of the day, the wrestling community is filled with mid-western guys and southern guys. Russo stands out like a sore thumb so its easy to assault him verbally, but if he was only successful because he had a filter at WWE, why did the WWE hire him back in 2002 as head writer? Things didn't work out but they demoted him to a consultant because Vince felt bad that he mislead Russo. Russo left on his own terms to go to TNA because it was a better opportunity. That doesn't sound like someone who wasn't respected..it doesn't sound like someone who needed a "filter". Yes, his ideas are more TV-centric and more story and drama-based...but that's the idea..you get a guy like Russo and allow him to trade ideas with other writers. Then you come up with a mixture of everyone's ideas. Nobody has dominance over a storyline..it's a team-effort. And you gotta have the right cast of wrestlers. Attitude Era had some pretty good characters that could work with Russo's material, i.e. Godfather, Val Venis, etc etc...if you don't have people who can make the ideas work, then it will suck. Not Russo's fault. Russo is only a member of the team, and writing is a team-effort, not a solo effort
Russo looks in great health and shape
Jim cornette cornettes wife might be out of the will after all
Unfortunately
Looks in great shape unfortunately.
To bad Russo cant copy right the word bro.
It did appear that they weren't in on it.
Say what you want about Russo, and I was certainly no fan of his. But the fact he did what no one in WCW had the stones to do and stand up to Hogan was awesome. It needed to happen. Hogan held the company down in so many ways and screwed over so many up and comers. Jericho, Beniot, Guerrero, Malenko, and so many more had no chance of succeeding in WCW because of the likes of Hogan, Nash and the other older wrestlers. If this happened a year earlier, WCW might have been saved. It was too late by this point, but Russo at least tried and exposed it's biggest problem. I respect Russo for this.
The major thing that Vince doesn't get enough credit was that he never picked favorites outside of rating draws nor playing politics. He tries to give all wrestlers a spot unlike today how they just sit in catering wondering if they are called up at the last minute.
Bull shit.
@@rustykoehler2789 truth hurts lol
@@DarksaberForce Vince Russo also had alot to do with the success of the attitude era
@@DarksaberForce That's his best quality everyone had a part in the show
Also; Seems like Bischoff and Hogie were hella pissed that they were the ones that got worked, instead of being the ones doing the working.
Vince ripped Hogan a new one
That promo he cut on Hogan was nuts
A shame that no youtuber watched WCW in 2000, because it gets a bad rap from people who didn't watch all of the episodes of Nitro and only nitpick a select few things out of an entire YEAR. 1999 turned me away, 2000 brought me back, and 2001 was even better, until the closing. The tag division and US title was its strength that year. Natural Born Thrillers, 3 Count vs. Jung Dragons vs. Evan Karagias/Jaime Knoble Triple Ladder Match, one of the best matches of the year, Crowbar and Daffney, Team Canada, The Filthy Animals, the new Cruiserweight Tag Titles (2001), so many awesome things in this period.
Exactly. I've been watching through WCW 2000 lately and for the most part it's been entertaining. Much better than 1999, I think (which was good between Oct-Dec when Russo was booking the shows).
IMO the F/E was a far superior product, but yeah WCW had a lot going for them in that last year. Their midcard was absolute fire. Everyone you named picked up where Jericho, the Radikals, Regal, and the other WCW imports left off after they went to the F/E... and those guys are legends.
I also liked Kronic.
@@jesselopez7143 I bet u do love da weed huh Jesse
Wcw was good in 2000 and 2001 it was very underrated to me.
I enjoy hearing what Russo has to say. I recently got into these videos and they're all top tier.

TwoManPowerTrip's interview skills and demeanour are great. Impartial, listens and moves the conversation forward.
id watch wcw circa 2000 over the current era thats for sure even with Russo writing it. as russo brought the ratings up
Blueblur23 so ya got better value for free
It's crazy how people bash Russo when what he did was way more entertaining than todays wrestling and got the ratings up
@@theclawyaww3740 some wcw loyalists hate him because we were all told he took us fron 60 mill in the positive to 87 mill in the negative.
But even Eric admits by mid 99 well before Russo came in they were already planning to sell it anyway. There were other outside factors in Turner that kept Russo from writing it how he wanted to anyway the whole nitro 2000 is very much a compromise of ideas it isn't all on Russo. I forgave him quickly when I got a bit more educated on the behind the scenes stuff from 2000.
@@theclawyaww3740 if they would of let him do the Legends Avengers type booking for Hogan, Sting, Macho Man, Ric Flair and Curt Henning would of been great
Are you wasted? Stuff today might not be the best but at least they know how to book entertaining matches with some semblance of logic. Not 15 swerves, a ref bump, another double turn and Miss Hancock coming out and the match just stopping
The Monday Night War lasted a whopping 6 years and it gave us more memorable moments than any wrestling combined in the last 19 years, let that sink in
Bullshit
No bullshit: that storyline idea he had about eliminating the old-timers one-by-one, only to have them come back as an Avengers-like super team to take on all the young guys, sounded pretty awesome.
You know what..... you're right. That would have been fucking epic.
@@ChrisLengyelMagic
That's why Russo was misunderstood by Roddy Piper. Piper was such a mark for thinking he was a "sellout old timer" but the truth is: Russo wanted the younger guys in wrestling to shine.
It would be awesome if the New Blood. No idea why the young people being held down by the old timers would be heels. The old guard should have been the heels.
Everyone shits on Vince Russo. But everything ive heard, his side of the stories make so much more sense and he has stories that show so much more clarity and they arent just "f this guy or that guy did this", his points are pretty clear and they make sense with the context of the full picture. And with what was thrown in his lap left and right, it sounds like he did everything he could with what he had to work with
Vince Russo promos on Nitro was one of the reasons I would switch over from Raw and watch them
I love this story
Ultimate Warrior’s shoot interview says everything that needs to be said about the great Hulk Hogan, iconic character but huge POS person surprise surprise 🙄

Still a classic moment in wrestling history!
Rather embarrassing
Did Vince just get off his shift from Buffalo Wild Wings?
LMAO
I could see it lol nothing wrong with working an honest job though.
Say what you want about Russo, but his story makes the most sense. Eric's story is all over the place. Plus Hogan is his best friend, so of course he's gonna protect Hogan as much as possible.
I liked the part where he says "Bro"
Bro, that doesn't work for me bro
If someone edited all the bros out, it would be a half hour shorter
I like when he's completly honest with ya.
Bro, man, bro it's crash TV bro.
Don't Bro me, if you don't know me!
I feel like im more of a Bischoff guy, but i also feel like Russo is a lot more truthful
David Flair was a fun CHARACTER, people expected different things and dismiss his entertaining feud with Crowbar because he wasn't an athletic worker. Out of the ring, he was great. But again, people see "Flair" and immediately dismiss him because he wasn't a great in-ring worker. These "journalists" and youtubers probably don't even know who Crowbar was, so they never bothered following that feud. I always looked forward to David Flair's promos at least. He looked very convincing as a nutcase.
Don't forget Daffney. Loved her.

Yeah nail in coffin for wcw
People still speak about 9/11 too. Doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s positive. lol
Something being remembered doesn't mean it's good. This was basically the end of WCW, you know, a very bad thing.
Host did a good job.
Wish he was the original host of TWC, Koon was brutal.
not too hard when Vince takes an hour to say what could have been said in five minutes, the host has the easiest job in the world.....just sit there and pretend to listen attentively

Someone should do a video where its the two of them and all that's said is bro and brother, add subtitles at the bottom. Id watch that
I firmly believe that if Vince would not have put the title on Booker T that night, Booker T may not have had the career and shot in WWE that he did. It's also very sad that 2000 was the last really exciting period in wrestling.
Listening to Russo more and more.....He's *clearly* not as bad as people make him out to be. He comes across very articulate and intelligent. I do wonder this tho; When Hogan sued him over this incident.......how much money was Hogan awarded?
Bash at the Beach 2000 was awesome. The crowd was hot as shit compared to now
russos story hasnt changed
Russo says that he and Bischoff are opposites and dislike each other. If I know anything about math, that would make Bischoff and Cornette freakin soulmates.
Ben Bradley your math would be correct if theres a only a coin side to choose of...luckily we may have like at least 4 sides, with mcmahon/prichard & heyman^^ jr? ...hmm...
@@IronmanM really, pretty much everything that comes out of Russo's mouth just annoys the crap out of me. He seems to constantly take credit for anything that was remotely successful during that era, while at the same time putting down the business and keeping it at arm's length. He wants his audience to believe he's this humble super genius who lowered himself to these carny people so he could teach them how to entertain an audience. At the same time he wants to be this gee-golly Bro-in-the-headlights who never had a bad word or intention about anyone in his life. Please.
I'm glad I didn't have to hear Russo say bro in this interview lol
Just watched the promo. I love you Vince!
This video doesn't work for me brother. Lol
Interesting to hear this from another perspective. Listened to Bischoff version last week. Who knows what the truth is.
If you look at the court documents, both hogan and biscoff had different interpretations as well. Im more likely to believe russo though since bischoffs history of work before wcw was an infomercial salesmen and selling products door to door. Usually they exagerate and lie as part of their profession.
Listening to Eric podcast brought to this video. I feel ya.
I tend to think Russo was kinda right. I don’t believe him on knowing Booker T would be the champion that night. My guess is that came at the last minute literally, I do think there was a plan to crown a champion that night, but I feel Booker T was a last minute pick,
the reason I feel that way is Booker’s earlier loss to DDKanyon that night.
Blessings to you from on high, VR!
Do you guys think Russo will EVER work in wrestling again?? The age old saying is never say never!!!
pro wrestling is dead and this covid 19 is going to push it even further into the ground. Even after a vaccine when the covid is over there's going to be another major recession
Love the AC/DC poster in the background!
Go back and watch the Sean Oliver interview with Russo. in that interview he says Hogan and him are talking, that Hogan can have one belt, he comes back and fights the guy with the other belt. This interview he says there were no plans and its Siegal's call if there will be a future matchup.
No, the "Hogan has one belt and Booker has the other and we can make a program out of that" was all Hogan's idea.
Russo has repeatedly said he didn't care about that at that point and was probably never going to do it anyways. He just wanted Hogan to drop the belt.
Russo's story stayed the same. Hogan is the one that said "he will have a belt, i will have a belt" russo replies "ok yeah whatever" meaning he just wanted Bash 2000 to happen.
Segial was probably smart enough to see WCW was losing tons of money and Hogan was not worth the insane contract he had anymore
There could definitely be a show that would get ratings about the backstage of professional wrestling 😂 have a group outside of WWE producing it, it'd be gold.

As a fan since the mid 80's I love the business..the history of the business. Respect to the legends of the past ...I love Flair, I love Dusty, I love Harley Race. That era is the golden standard. Hulk Hogan was my generations real life super hero. I'll be in Hogan's corner til the end... Russo disrespected my hero.
well that's good..that's the reaction he was looking for. vince russo was a character, and his job was to get heat...and obviously he got it. The whole idea was Vince wanted to remove the old guard and make room for the new blood. Literally that was the conflict of the factions. Lol. Hogan was well-respected, but at the end of the day, he wasn't going to sit back and allow others to be main-eventers..If he wasn't apart of the main event, he feared losing his influence. Russo liked Hogan but at the end of the day, Bischoff held him in high regard because he signed Hogan..he viewed Hogan and him as the architects of the WCW, and they weren't going to allow that to slip out of their hands. Plus, he might be your hero, but he goes around calling people the N word in real life and he sleeps with his friends' wives because he was into swinging. Hogan is a regular guy, and the more you understand that, the better you'll be able to balance his pros and cons. Hogan was competitive and he wanted to be in the limelight..He helped bring WCW out the gutter, so yes he deserved special treatment, but at a certain point, he has to step back and allow other guys to get over. He won his immortality as a legacy already..him and Bischoff can't constantly base every decision through the lens of what's good for them. They have to consider other people and the future of the business.
There's a great storyline here between Vince and Eric for WrestleMania!!!
Here is why what Vince says is what actually happened. They had to do all of this in a time frame. Hogan and Bischoff had to leave and everything was filmed in perfect time. This stuff had to be written out beforehand to make this for in allotted time. If this were a shoot and not a work none of this would have worked.
Yup
Hey Bro!, he's leaving with the title BRO!, ?What' yours BRO!
Can we the public see the court papers today? If so Where can we view this?
Hogan really thought that his creative control meant that defaming his wresting character was an actual defamation of his character in the real world. That's because Russo did such a realistic job of defaming his character in his work.
Ppl hate Vince Russo because it's the in thing to do
Bash at the beech sucked so hard. Defending any part of it, means he really doesn't understand how atrocious it was and how bad it looked. It was literal trash. And 20 years of reflection not giving him a better perspective, means he had NO TASTE or eye for talent. He couldn't tell the difference between a good/bad match or quality, to save his life. OR a wrestling promotion. And he proved it. HARD! lol.
Vince says his smarter than them
I like hearing the stories but man if I hear the word BRO one more time
If this dude says Bro one more time I'm going to punch a kitten
the problem with WCW in 2000 is people were comparing them to WWF and the 1997-1998 version of wcw
Someone should have rang Hogan to tell him they couldn't afford to put him on TV. Say what you want about Mcmahon, he would have done. I'm not surprised Hogan took it to heart, he has to protect the 'Hulk Hogan' character as it's his livelihood.
I played the Russo bro drinking game. Call an ambulance.

Russo didn't know how to manage Hogan, Goldberg, Nash and the other main eventers. You can't dictate these guys, you have to get them in a room together and get mutual agreement on matches and storylines.
So, Russo is the boss and agrees to work with Eric. Even though he doesn't know what Eric's position is and doesn't ask?
Really Russo? That's why this company is in the Damned shape it's in, because of bullshit like this.

I wouldn't say he's being blackballed to wrestling but I'm wrestling would give numerous chances for Russo to comeback if it's WWE, NWA or someone new from the indies.
Vince Russo did not kill WCW.
I dunno. I prefer his Brand podcasts to anything that's going on in the wrestling biz today. Glad he's not part of it 'cos it means he can speak honestly about it.
The wrestling business has changed. SJW, neckbeards, and soy boys wouldn't appreciate the Attitude Era. He says he is happier doing what he is doing now, does not have to travel, and he is his own boss.
