    Also; This totally flies in the face of what Eric said on 83 Weeks. From what I recall, Bisch claimed Hogie was awarded a 7 figure settlement. He did NOT however post any sort of url, or source to substantiate that. He claimed he couldn't speak at length about it, due to legal concerns. I'm starting to believe Russo more and more. This guy gets WAY TOO MUCH FLACK.

    You know i was skeptical of Russo for years. But I listen to all sides of a story, and Russo's makes the most sense. Not to mention Russo backs everything up with proof. I also agree that younger and mid card talent needed to be pushed and the foundation of wcw rebuilt.

      at the end of the day, the wrestling community is filled with mid-western guys and southern guys. Russo stands out like a sore thumb so its easy to assault him verbally, but if he was only successful because he had a filter at WWE, why did the WWE hire him back in 2002 as head writer? Things didn't work out but they demoted him to a consultant because Vince felt bad that he mislead Russo. Russo left on his own terms to go to TNA because it was a better opportunity. That doesn't sound like someone who wasn't respected..it doesn't sound like someone who needed a "filter". Yes, his ideas are more TV-centric and more story and drama-based...but that's the idea..you get a guy like Russo and allow him to trade ideas with other writers. Then you come up with a mixture of everyone's ideas. Nobody has dominance over a storyline..it's a team-effort. And you gotta have the right cast of wrestlers. Attitude Era had some pretty good characters that could work with Russo's material, i.e. Godfather, Val Venis, etc etc...if you don't have people who can make the ideas work, then it will suck. Not Russo's fault. Russo is only a member of the team, and writing is a team-effort, not a solo effort

    Say what you want about Russo, and I was certainly no fan of his. But the fact he did what no one in WCW had the stones to do and stand up to Hogan was awesome. It needed to happen. Hogan held the company down in so many ways and screwed over so many up and comers. Jericho, Beniot, Guerrero, Malenko, and so many more had no chance of succeeding in WCW because of the likes of Hogan, Nash and the other older wrestlers. If this happened a year earlier, WCW might have been saved. It was too late by this point, but Russo at least tried and exposed it's biggest problem. I respect Russo for this.

      The major thing that Vince doesn't get enough credit was that he never picked favorites outside of rating draws nor playing politics. He tries to give all wrestlers a spot unlike today how they just sit in catering wondering if they are called up at the last minute.

    A shame that no youtuber watched WCW in 2000, because it gets a bad rap from people who didn't watch all of the episodes of Nitro and only nitpick a select few things out of an entire YEAR. 1999 turned me away, 2000 brought me back, and 2001 was even better, until the closing. The tag division and US title was its strength that year. Natural Born Thrillers, 3 Count vs. Jung Dragons vs. Evan Karagias/Jaime Knoble Triple Ladder Match, one of the best matches of the year, Crowbar and Daffney, Team Canada, The Filthy Animals, the new Cruiserweight Tag Titles (2001), so many awesome things in this period.

He seems to constantly take credit for anything that was remotely successful during that era, while at the same time putting down the business and keeping it at arm's length. He wants his audience to believe he's this humble super genius who lowered himself to these carny people so he could teach them how to entertain an audience. At the same time he wants to be this gee-golly Bro-in-the-headlights who never had a bad word or intention about anyone in his life. Please.

      If you look at the court documents, both hogan and biscoff had different interpretations as well. Im more likely to believe russo though since bischoffs history of work before wcw was an infomercial salesmen and selling products door to door. Usually they exagerate and lie as part of their profession.

      I tend to think Russo was kinda right. I don’t believe him on knowing Booker T would be the champion that night. My guess is that came at the last minute literally, I do think there was a plan to crown a champion that night, but I feel Booker T was a last minute pick,
      the reason I feel that way is Booker’s earlier loss to DDKanyon that night.

    Go back and watch the Sean Oliver interview with Russo. in that interview he says Hogan and him are talking, that Hogan can have one belt, he comes back and fights the guy with the other belt. This interview he says there were no plans and its Siegal's call if there will be a future matchup.

    • @velvetpilot2008
      @velvetpilot2008 3 года назад +4

      No, the "Hogan has one belt and Booker has the other and we can make a program out of that" was all Hogan's idea.
      Russo has repeatedly said he didn't care about that at that point and was probably never going to do it anyways. He just wanted Hogan to drop the belt.

    As a fan since the mid 80's I love the business..the history of the business. Respect to the legends of the past ...I love Flair, I love Dusty, I love Harley Race. That era is the golden standard. Hulk Hogan was my generations real life super hero. I'll be in Hogan's corner til the end... Russo disrespected my hero.

    • @sabot4ge
      @sabot4ge 2 года назад +1

      well that's good..that's the reaction he was looking for. vince russo was a character, and his job was to get heat...and obviously he got it. The whole idea was Vince wanted to remove the old guard and make room for the new blood. Literally that was the conflict of the factions. Lol. Hogan was well-respected, but at the end of the day, he wasn't going to sit back and allow others to be main-eventers..If he wasn't apart of the main event, he feared losing his influence. Russo liked Hogan but at the end of the day, Bischoff held him in high regard because he signed Hogan..he viewed Hogan and him as the architects of the WCW, and they weren't going to allow that to slip out of their hands. Plus, he might be your hero, but he goes around calling people the N word in real life and he sleeps with his friends' wives because he was into swinging. Hogan is a regular guy, and the more you understand that, the better you'll be able to balance his pros and cons. Hogan was competitive and he wanted to be in the limelight..He helped bring WCW out the gutter, so yes he deserved special treatment, but at a certain point, he has to step back and allow other guys to get over. He won his immortality as a legacy already..him and Bischoff can't constantly base every decision through the lens of what's good for them. They have to consider other people and the future of the business.

    Here is why what Vince says is what actually happened. They had to do all of this in a time frame. Hogan and Bischoff had to leave and everything was filmed in perfect time. This stuff had to be written out beforehand to make this for in allotted time. If this were a shoot and not a work none of this would have worked.

    Bash at the beech sucked so hard. Defending any part of it, means he really doesn't understand how atrocious it was and how bad it looked. It was literal trash. And 20 years of reflection not giving him a better perspective, means he had NO TASTE or eye for talent. He couldn't tell the difference between a good/bad match or quality, to save his life. OR a wrestling promotion. And he proved it. HARD! lol.
