I agree that the first one is the best and my favorite scene in it is the ice slides. The order I rank the films in from best to worst is 1, 3, 2, 4, 5, and 6.
1. Ice Age: This is my ultimate my favorite Ice Age movie and Blue Sky Studios films, the way how they introduce the characters was well made done, the voice cast was amazing, the story was good, the animation sure its outdated but still better than Adventures of Buck Wild, Best scene is easily Manny's Backstory it just gives us the reason why Manny acts so grumpy, he just lost his family because of the humans, yet after that he see's the baby human like a son to him, the villians were pretty good, and it just had a touching message, That's what you do in a herd, you look out for eachother, perfect message for the film. 2. Ice Age Dawn Of The Dinosaurs: This may be a lot of people's favorite Ice Age movie, which I also think its my favorite but both this and the first one are tied but this comes in 2nd place cause while the animation once again improves, the dinosaurs were amazing, buck's introduction was amazing, he's backstory when he gets his eye patch was really dark and horrifying, the villian rudy was cool, I think this is the darkest of the series, when ever their getting into trouble it gets too dark, I think Sid adopting Dinosaur eggs was understandable since he wants a family of his own, and even if didn't realize they were dinosaurs, i think his montage with the baby dinosaurs was funny, I think this should've been the last film since Manny and Ellie had their kid, and I can't forget Scrat having a crush on a female squirell was funny especially how in one scene the acorn cracks after a love montage of Scrat and his crush, this one is one of the ones I would rewatch all over again. 3. Ice Age Continental Drift: I don't hate this one as others do, I think this was a good one, sure it almost follows the meldown's story but better, I think this had better character's, Sid's Granny was halirious, the villians here are probably the best of the series, the two songs were amazing, the tiny inclusion of Sid's family was nice and Scrat finding more of his kind was cool even if he ruined it, but this was a good one. 4. Ice Age The Meltdown: Not a bad sequel, but I just hated Crash and Eddie, I wasn't a fan of the mini sloths, and the villians were meh, their not bad but were just there, I do like how manny believes he's the last of his kind, until he meets Ellie, I also like how the animation improved which was good. 5. Ice Age Collision Course: Adventures of Buck Wild makes Collision Course look like a masterpiece, at least the animation is beautiful to look at, but the rest is not good, the producers and writters must've given up after the 4th film, the new characters are annoying and the villians were just there. 6. Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild: Instead of being a Tv Show it became a movie, big mistake, not only that, instead of focusing on Buck like in title it focuses on the worst and annoying characters of the entire series and you guessed it Crash and Eddie.
I want to say major thanks for defending Continental Drift. I recall for the longest time I had only seen the first three Ice Age films. But then a few years ago, I found a Blu-Ray set of all five theatrically released films. So watched all five in one day. I finish the first three, actually liking the Meltdown way more than my first viewing, and Dawn of the Dinosaurs still being my favorite. I then thought, “Well, I should lower expectations from here, everyone seems to hate what followed, and the 3rd film ended on such a good note.” I pop in the 4th film… and I really liked it. You covered every positive I have had for the film, and my biggest positive is Gutt, as to me he’s the best villian in the series. I also feel the 4th film works as a great ending to the series as well. Collision Course… well I don’t hate it, but I can see why so many hate it.

My personal ranking of the Ice Age movies best to worst: 1: Ice Age 2: Best in every single way except for story and animation 2: Ice Age: Even though it has a very strong story, if there was a scene that scared you for years as a kid, that’s enough to bring it down a spot 3: Ice Age 4: An actually good movie. So close to being great but the conflict would have been significantly better between Manny and Peaches if there was something mentioned of his backstory and gave Sid and Diego conflict on if they should tell Peaches on why he is the way he is. Like imagine another scene where Peaches had another argument with Manny and the and in another scene Manny vents about what happened and Sid and Diego debate on if they should tell Peaches about Mannys trauma 4: Ice Age 3: I still really like this movie but I feel like the pacing is a bit wonky. That and this movie probably had my least favorite Scrat moments. Otherwise, still a good and fun time 5: Ice Age 5: It’s ok. It has some pretty great stuff like how Mannys arc is finally complete and the shot with the characters at Peaches wedding ending off with Sid and Diego feels super wholesome. My only major problem is the animation being way too zany and fast. Otherwise, it’s alright 6: Ice Age 6: Do I have to say anything?
OMG my guy and soooo many of you probably never really watched this during its hay day I mean REALLY? The 4th and 5th one sooo deserve the hate they get they've completely bastardized this franchise.

While I’ll never argue that Ice Age 1 is the best in quality… Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is my personal favorite entry.
