You like Mareux? His early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Decade came out in '13, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, synth-driven , and a new sheen of relatable aura and comparison to American Psycho's aesthetics that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to øfdream, but I think Mareux has a far more unique and individual sense of humor. In '21, Mareux released a cover of The Cure's "The Perfect Girl", easily his most accomplished work. I think his undisputed masterpiece is "Summertime". A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of wanting someone and the feelings of summertime itself. It's also a song about yearning for that special someone's touch despite that person not being there with you anymore.

Why is it that the song "mareux - the perfect girl" has such a potent vibe that just feels like it speaks to the condition of this generation? I'm not even talking about the lyrics, just the instrumentation.
Its like dark, almost creepy, but deeply emotional and melancholic, pained even.

This is actually pretty purposeful and really uses the most out of the media.
Follows with Bateman’s story, used the music to sound distant at times. Works the darker video effects with the killings. Brilliant/immersive clip at the end with Bateman gaze, also syncing up with the music and story.
This is great, like showing Bateman’s feelings and experience

"I simply want. To Fit. In...." That one line really hit me hard as I have recently been trying to learn what my purpose in this broken world is. I am on the Spectrum and sometimes I overthink what people think of me and randomly get depressed about life. Watching this movie was like being in a dream where you're the one in control and think you're invincible, But overtime as the dream gets longer the more you start going crazy and your control starts to slip. This movie was an escape for me, And I enjoyed every damn bit of it.

The movie is not good in the slasher/horror part also there s a certain lack of budget when you look at the club scenes for example. But it s so good when it comes to dialogue, Bale is awesome, and the tone is well put. The book is the one which is good. The movieis kinda poorly realisated actually

Patrick is the edge of mans insanity. He can see the real world when no one else can. Modernity, Addiction, Instant gratification and lack of meaningful human interactions.
A world where people are equally psychotic like him, there is no escape. Through countless murders all people could care about is themselves, and with disgust of modern human nature, Patrick lived a life of misery inside a metropolis city.
He’s an interesting character though his behaviors and actions should not be glorified but instead understood. With that we can become better, and live a greater fate that Patrick couldn’t have.

Please, don't stop creating. This inspired me to keep going myself. There's a common misconception that we look at Bateman, as a figure of homicidal inspiration. I don't think that's the case, at least not for me. The only thing I admire is his physique. However, the thing that relates to me the most is that he has deduced himself to a mere entity and something illusory. It helps me dissociate.
It’s almost impossible to relate to someone like bateman, well not fully anyway. He really is a shell, filled with artificial emotion.

I don't know if you're aware but, going in the same way as this concept, the Advaita Vedanta, which is a philosophical doctrine, might have been a source of inspiration to Bret Easton Ellis to write his brilliant book, and especially its protagonist Patrick Bateman.
It's literally depicting this idea of getting out of your physical self, to take depth about what's happening around you, those physical events, in the hope of making you less sensible to violent emotions or just emotions in general.
It allows you to take a step back about your life and how its events affect you mentally.

He wants to fit in and be does so perfectly but he’s also deprived of meaningful human interaction which is why he doesn’t kill certain characters in the movie like his accountant or gay co worker. Because they actually care about him not because of his status or physique.
He kills hookers and homeless people because to him, they are only there to take things from him. In response he takes their lives.
