- EMG 57/66 pickups installation for my Washburn WI66PRO project guitar! Changing EMG pickups is very easy, especially if you are just swapping EMG for EMG. I took out the EMG 81 and EMG 60 that was in this Washburn and put in the EMG 57 and EMG 66. Hope you enjoy the video, and stay tuned for more mods to this Washburn WI66PRO!

I think so too Dimo!
Hey guys. I found your channel after I bought a Chapman ML2...I felt a little bad finding out after I'd bought it that there was a Chapman dealer in my back yard (I live in Rowlett...not too far from you). Anyway, I've been watching your vids since then, and really enjoy them. I like the laid back feel...I wanna drop by the shop and check it out based on your videos! But anyway, seeing you mod this Washburn made me drop you a note...just last week, I found a WI67PRO for sale used at a local shop. I'd never played one, but I really liked its look. I got the guitar and hard case for $190! It came with Seymour Duncans, and they sound pretty good...so I'm leaving them alone. It had a little fret wear so I leveled and crowned the frets, but after doing that and a little setup, it's one of my favorite guitars now! Anyway, I like your channel, and hope I can get over there to meet you soon! Take care!
I do like the look and sound of those pickups and you can't really complain when you don't have to solder anything! That EVH 5150 is a killer amp too! Cheers!
Thanks Kurgle! Super easy swap lol.
Blimey that sounds so good!!!!!!!!👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
Thanks Howard!
I have the 57/66 in one of my Agile LPish guitars. They sound much closer to a hot passive pickup, than to traditional active pickups.
Aaron Anthony I dig them!
hi.. is it more clarity thank old emgs?
Awesome! Did not know the pickup swap was going to be that easy! New pickups paired up nicely with that 5150. I liked the channel 2 sound on the EVH! Usually everyone goes straight for the highest gain. Nice!
Channel 2 is great on the 5150iii! super easy swapping EMG for EMG. I really like that about them
That blue channel is so much fun to play on. Definitely going to get one of those amps some day
Great video! I'm looking to replace my pickup rings for these. Is one a bit bigger than the other??
dude! holy sludge metal groove at 10:21! that you could work with or move around whatever lol.. vicarious guitar playing lol! peace, b.
Thanks man!
Awesome beard dude
thanks!
What's the best pickup height for this set in your opinion?
i have emg 57 66 in ML2, but i liked the stock pu more..
I put Passive EMG pickups in my ML-2 that I've had for 3 years and I definitely like them more than the Guitarnivores.
How easy was that?! Great vid Ryan, thanks heaps :) It was very clear and the zooming in was awesome. EMG are absolute total legends for creating that connector and three pin set up. I'm thinking of swapping out my Diamond pick ups on my Diamond Bolero for some Seymour Duncan JB/59s. Do you think they would have the same connector and pin set up or do you think some soldering would be required?
Boochie Daddykins super easy!!
Boochie Daddykins definitely going to require soldering on swapping the Diamond pups for Duncans,
Mmmm, cheers, thanks Ryan... :( Might be like the Fonze and sit on it for a while... :)
Sounded good through camera mic🎸
Yeah surprisingly not bad. Although over the years I have found some (not all) camera mics to give a more realitic representation of the sound than micing up with a 57 which adds it's own flavor to the signal.
Yes sir. Keeping the idol series alive. The rna sticker works. Do you guys sell those?
We do! there's some white ones on the website, and we have silver ones as well, but I haven't listed those yet.
Mmm mine not so simple. My EMG 60 had a 7 pin connector as it had a coil tap. So not sure how to connect to 3 pin on the EMG 66
You would need the 66tw which is the dual mode 66. It has the 7 pin which is what you could do. Sounds like you might have had an 89 which is a 7 pin splitable humbucker.
Or you could just use the 3 pin wiring that comes with the 66 pickups and install that into the guitar.
Does it metter which direction to connect cable from guitar to EMG? 4:50
Yes, the triangle arrow should be visible to you when plugging it in
Hi Ryan, are the EMG pickups active or passive pickups? And if they are active, are there any problems using certain pedals, amps, etc?
the 57/66 are active pickups. I have not encountered any problems with amps or pedals.

Hey I Like The RNA Music Sticker Is There A Way You Can Buy Them , Also Killer Pickups \m/
We have the white ones listed on the website for sale, the silver ones aren't listed yet though but we have them!
Sounds Awesome Will Get For Sure \m/
+Sebastien Thisdelle thanks Sebastian, will try to get the silver ones up on the site too soon
You didn’t show the toggle wiring?
There was nothing to be done with the switch when replacing EMG Pickups with more EMG pickups.
Switch wiring was not changed
brushed aluminum emg's . the DeLorean of pup's
Time travel is possible!
tried no luck (yes i swapped battery too)..... and emg wont email me back....
JACKSONLEWISOFCANADA give them a call
One thing to double check is to make sure the plug connecting to the pickup pins is connected the right way. If it's flipped the wrong direction there will be no sound.
