Fun fact. Tiny houses were originally invented for the homeless to sleep in until people started buying out the idea for themselves and raising the prices and defeating the entire purpose of what it was actually made for.. I thought tiny homes were going to be a game changer for the homeless and its sad that this is what it is now.
That's not exactly how it started, I would look up Jay Shafer as he is known as the person who created true tiny homes. This happened around 1999. Smaller style homes have been around for a lot longer than that, though, so maybe that's what you're referring to.

@nbtxliving they're nowhere near worth the prices I've seen-$130k up to $167k😳 $50k to 80k is all they're worth. I live in New Zealand where the average home price is a eye watering $780k!
Oh well, I can imagine that the markets we are talking about are pretty different but these homes do pass for financing so they get appraised and they meet value

I mean 100k is a bit much however, considering you own the land, and you get a place you call home forever in the midst of the crazy high prices nowadays its not bad, I wish we had something similar in my county because I wanna own a house so badly but land prices r ridiculous where live and u can never find small land for cheap.
Land over here is pretty crazy too. It's a finite resource, so I only every see the price increasing over time. Thanks for leaving a comment, and hopefully, one day, you will own some land and a house of your own.
it’s just me, but i’m looking to build a studio home where there are no rooms only a separate door for kitchen, another one for bathroom/laundry. both side by side to have a door in between kitchen and bathroom… then the rest of it full open space for everything i need. 💯

Yeah but then you have to buy or rent land to put it on. Under the right situation a container house could be cheaper, but there are hidden costs you have to consider like getting plumbing and electrical.

Sure its just people from other countries, why are minimalist homes and tiny homes becoming so popular. 1. Less expensive than normal homes.
2. Less upkeep
3. Less clutter in the home
4. A variety of other reasons
These homes really arent for everyone but some people really do want these homes for all the benefits they allow them. Btw I have had plenty of Americans inquiring about how to get into one of these home. Thanks for the comments.

661sq ft is ca 61,5 sq meters. A typical polish 2 bed flat or a small house for 2+1 or 2 family. The appliances have standard European sizes.
In Polans such homes are being advertised as an apartment alternative, since their costs are lower or similar to a 1bed=35m2 flats in big cities.

@@nbtxliving In Phoenix people in trailer park communities are being displaced by developers who buy the land out from under them so they can build hi rises, and the homes are too old to move. So for a retiree owning the the land is major.
That really is terrible hopefully they can find alternate housing

My house is 1 bed, 1 bath, 490 sq feet with semi-open floor plan. I have full size appliances, but no dishwasher. I also have a metal roof and sliding glass door in back with a carport. I live on 12 acres.

That's cool. We have been looking for land to have chickens and grow fruits and vegetables. Land is really high priced here, but it would probably be worth it. Thanks for sharing.

Can you park vertically in between the homes since it is too narrow to park horizontally without blocking neighbors driveway?
No, you would block the street. You can fit two medium-sized cars in the driveway with a bit of hangover into the sidewalk. You can fit a car in between the houses on the street, and the curb is cut level with the street so you can pull up a little onto the sidewalk.

Investors are always looking to buy homes at a discounted rate. These tiny homes are really not ideal for everyone there is a target group that they are aiming for

Yep, lennar is pretty well known for cookie cutter neighborhoods in this area. They do offer different series of homes that are more creative but they also cost more.

It's not really weird as much as it's the builder providing low-cost housing and trying to capitalize on this housing market. Even if it's not ideal.
This isn't a trailer park. It's a less environmentally friendly version of a trailer park.

@@nbtxliving Trailer parks don't cause as much damage to the land underneath and surrounding the trailers. These are shaped like trailers, but have a permanent concrete foundation that ruins the soil.

The story is fake, Though he did actually build a tiny house. Basically a boy got insanely bored over the summer and had a random idea to start building a tiny house in his backyard. It took him about a year and a half to build it and it turned out pretty well. The pictures of the inside that the video showed look nothing like it but you could search up 13-year-old builds tiny house and you’ll you can see a tour.. he did not fight with his parents at all.

I hope people are not that stupid. That's fall for this tiny market trend. I think it's a way to get rid of the middle class and put people a little technical containers. And Hey, very high prices, and a lot of these areas, the people don't own the land they just owned the house, so it's almost like a trailer park. My brother, for example, moved into a mobile home or manufactured home community. And his assassinance were $500 a month. He moved there to retire. Hes only had the property a year. And their $800 a month. No, so this is a big scam. And people are falling for and those homes are not equipped. If you are getting older, I have an injury and there's no privacy or security if there's a natural disaster or an emergency.
I get your concern and have seen the places that require a lease on top of purchasing/making a tiny home. This one, however, is a "normal" community where you get a mortgage and own the land and house. So eventually, you could pay it off and only pay the taxes and insurance. Some people really don't like the idea of living in a small home, but some do. If you don't mind the downsides, it wouldn't be a bad place.
Good question, I'm sure it was a variety of things that just added on top of other problems to get us to the point we are at today. Covid+ inflation+stagnant wages+increasing house prices. While these houses aren't perfect, they are an option.
Get used to tiny homes. They are the future of the American working class family.
It's just an option for now. There are a good number of homes in the New Braunfels area that are 1300-1600 sqft for less than 300k and even more in the San Antonio area. But who knows what the future holds for housing.

Historically, We get, maybe, 1 tornado a year in this area, I would just live in it. Tornados are not the worry here. Flooding, drought, and high temps, those are the real threats here. 🤞 🙏 🤞

Well, the housing market in Puerto Rico is different from housing in Texas, which is even more stiffen from housing in other parts of the country. It would be difficult to find a new construction 3/2 here for less than about 200k they exist, and we have made videos about them, but they are very rare
