pinkdispatcher that depends on companies I think.. Anyway there are a lot companies that don't care about their pilot's basic flying skills. In Airbusses especially, since they don't have to trim and the computers change inputs, the joy of flying is not as intense as it is in other types. Therefore pilots one Boeings are statiscally more enthusiastic about flying the first 10.000ft or the last 8.000ft manually, even Raw Data.. You usually don't see that done in Airbusses. Last time I saw it, it was a F/O I knew, who just changed from 737 to 320. He flew the last 9.000 into EDDF just raw Data.. I cannot remember any other flight where I saw that..
***** Could be. The difference is perhaps bigger in the single-aisle market, since 777 and 787 are also fly-by-wire and I'd be surprised if they didn't have auto-trim. I also know one (now retired) A320/A330 captain who regularly flew the entire descend and approach manually. Sometimes to the horror of his F/O. I've also heard some quite different opinions now from higher-up at Airbus, talking about the importance of manual flying skills in the A350 training program.
The 777 and 787 don't have an auto trim as far as I know. If he is now retired, he had a long time of his career flying older planes which were not that automated. So that could be a reason for him to keep flying manually :) In the a350 training program they basically want you to follow the FD. that's it :D I heard stories, that was unbelievable.. Sentences like "oh that must be a sim error" when they came out of the clouds too low, since they just followed the FD and did not remeber the 3 miles/1000ft rule..

Eu achei o vídeo bem bacana, mas eu não entendi porque você desligou o piloto automático antes mesmo de cruzar a camada das nuvens e ter a pista no visual. Acho que vc deve ter muita confiança na sua experiência rs. Abraço!
