Watching this in September 2023, and I really appreciate your calmness and tips. So many loud and messy videos out there. Yours is straight to the point and easy to follow. Thank you!
Thankyou, really appreciate the feedback, and glad you enjoyed it. I have created a more recent tutorial series which includes some of the DLCs, which you may find of use: ruclips.net/p/PLjtNsCg0XFV3CkPSN9_lZ2G41DUZVeQy0
Thanks again for making these tutorials, I have learned more from these 2 videos than the entire in game tutorial and my own play time. Good to see where you start as it can be overwhelming what to concentrate on first.
You're very welcome. I am making the third (maybe the final one, we will see) tonight, and will upload asap. I am going to tweak the encoding as it looks quite muddy to me when the camera moves even though on HD
Honestly your video series has been the best when it comes to introducing this game to me. I've watched countless videos in the past, and was still non the wiser. Thanks again.
I have always wanted to start Rimworld and every time I start the game I found myself closing it after 30 minutes. But after I started to watch your videos, now I know what to do and how to do. Thank you!
It's a shame to see a man with such dedication have so little subs (in comparison to big channels, 2k subs is not little at all). You make helpfull videos. I hope you grow so you can help people as much as you helped me! Keep it up man!
Thanks, you're very kind. Thing is, I don't expect to get subs when I'm largely inactive, and nor do I deserve them. I am just glad to be helping people learn
GREAT Wealth of knowledge here for me, I was playing Kenshi and Watching Rahdamant and he plays Rimworld as well. Looked really fun. But he didn't have tutorials. I failed miserably on my first colony this morning. This is amazing.
Just wanted to say that this is the best tutorial ive seen yet. The only one that worked for me. You describing what you're doing while you're doing it....is invaluable. Instead of just explaining mechanics....we get to see what you do and why you do it. Awesome stuff, thank you.

very detailed tutorial - many thanks! why do you make separate rooms for each production? what's the benefit to making one big room for various crafts?
Thanks :) no real reason to keep production seperate, OTHER THAN kitchen and butchering stations. Keeping a butcher table (which creates a lot of mess) and a cooker (which doesn't react well to a dirty kitchen) in the same room is a sure path to food poisoning.
You have inspired me. I may play a bit tonight. I used to be brilliant at these sorts of games but I have been having cognitive issues the past few years and I find it extremely difficult working things out and remembering now. So games give me anxiety now.
Mate, I can't thank you enough for these videos. I was on the verge of requesting a refund on Steam due to the frankly pathetic tutorial in game, excellent work. Not sure I can thank you for me going bed at 2am on a work night after getting proper sucked into the game though haha!
Lol, a bit of 2am bedtime on a work night is what makes you stronk :-D Glad you are keeping the game though. It is very deep, and I highly recommend to spend a lot of time in the Wiki, which is very well populated and answers most questions :)
Great video! I have been playing for a little while, and have been starving/having mental breaks early on. I'm probably building too big of a structure on day 1. Keep it up.
@@BugPowderDust I'm currently on tutorial 3 of your 4 part series, and every minute of the tutorial is just incredible you do a very good job at explaining the stuff, thank you very much !
Could you put the cooling unit in a way that it's cooling the fridge area and heating a room where they sleep? Or would it generate too much heat for the room?
You could, and it would work, but it's then hard to control- ie. if you have a heatwave, you can't just turn it off, or the room it's cooling would heat up and ruin the food within. Better to control heat separately with a heater, so you can turn it down (or use vents and put a gap room inbetween so you can open/ close vents accordingly

Thanks for the comment. This question comes up a lot, and it's smart thinking- to a point. You can indeed do this, but you need to be careful. If you are on a predominantly warm biome, or a colder biome in the summer, you can run the risk of overheating the room it expels into. You can't just turn it off (if you do, your fridge will warm up and spoil food). It's easier to have an independent heating source that you can turn on/off, as power is quite easy to get in the early stages of the game.

To be fair, it's not too bad- just remember you can build roofs as shelter, up to 6 squares away from a wall block. Once you know this, you can mitigate toxic relatively easily

That is covered by Plant Cut. The Grow task covers planting and harvesting crops. Plant Cut covers stuff set to cut that isn't in a growing zone

I am just started playing literally yesterday, and another RUclipsr mentioned to double wall the refrigerated area and put additional areas at the doors for like double entry doors to prevent heat seeping in. Is that a priority in early game? Or something that can be done later?
Nah, you can do it later to be honest. There are other things that are more urgent in early game when you have few colonists.
I wouldn't bother ever with double walls if you don't play in a very cold biome. Power is relatively cheap in this game.
Hey, great videos, thanks!
Been trying to figure one thing out, and I can't find it on the wiki. When setting manual priorities, sometimes a box has a red outline. What does that mean? Wiki mentions gray-yellow scale for suitability, but not red...
Hey Juliean, thanks for the compliment.
