My only gripe with this DLC is how they removed the dash panels and moving cars in Coconut Mall. It's still a fun course and I love it. Other than that the DLC is really awesome and fun!!

It kinda reminds me how in real LIFE regular malls get changed all the time and that wat this newer version reminds me of. I've no idea if Nintendo deliberately make these changes or that I'm thinking way too much about this. But that's how I see it.

Man, I love how every music piece syncs to another song. Blends really well.
I remember when I saw the 2014 trailer for Mario Kart 8 and the music to Mario Kart Stadium was playing first and after about 1 minute, the N64 Rainbow Road section started to play. I can still play it from time to time nowadays.
What they did with the cities is amazing, each lap being its own segment its so cool and finally did them justice as they're relatively short to race through in Tour

Already got 3 star gold trophies on all of them, these courses are so much fun, hats off to the people that worked on these. I’ve missed these maps, and the Tour maps are very interesting, the twists of them changes lanes every lap is really awesome! Hoping to see Waluigi Pinball and Toad Factory in the future! Maybe even Mushroom Gorge and 3DS Rainbow Road

One update that I wish for is the option to disable certain items when creating custom lobbies, and maybe the option to add more laps to race sets. I think it could be a nice improvement.
And it would be amazing if we got to create our own courses
In my opinion, the main issue with more laps are Big Blue and Mount Wario. Those tracks don't loop to the start.

WAVE 2 NINTENDO, ITS BEEN 4 MONTHS
No matter how low quality wave 1’s graphics may be, this wave was truly nostalgic. Great dlc Nintendo!

@@azloyal298 It makes sense that the tour city tracks are all rolled into one, because the city tracks are short in the game and there are multiple variations on all of them, it would make sense that they're all combined into one (with each of the laps representative of one version)

I adore choco mountain, the facelift is certainly appreciated, and being able to play the tour tracks on a Mario Kart I actually enjoy playing is a huge plus! That said, Nintendo, I would be willing to pay for a character and kart customization booster pass (so I can play as Nabbit or Diddy and see something other than Waluigis on Wigglers for a change online)
At that point you're just asking for a whole new game, because why would they put that much effort into for an almost 10 year game. I mean yes look at the tracks they're bringing to this, but to be honest I think whatever tracks they bring for the rest of this DLC, will have been already added to Tour, or will be coming to Tour in the near future. I think they're just doing this DLC to give us more content for the time being while they start to work on the next Mario kart game, and I personally feel like they're being a little lazy to be completely honest, they're (so far with this first wave) just porting the tracks from Tour like I mentioned earlier and upgrading the graphics of them just a little bit, and nothing more. I mean I haven't played much Tour myself, but I'm pretty sure all of these tracks (retro tracks not the Tracks made new for Tour) are in Tour already like I said. So yeah, that's my thoughts lol

Just tried all the maps of this package, they are so cool!
they exceeded my expectations, especially paris promenade with all the extra detail. the coconut mall wall shrines in the spiral ramp sections is also cool. idk why there’s no antigravity tho

I always play Tour with the volume off because the combo noises really annoy me, so I had no idea all these course music tracks were such bangers
All of the music here is actually new to 8 and made by the orchestra!
These themes are all remixed for Mario kart 8 so there completely new
Vancouver, Berlin, Sydney, Ninja and most recently Singapore, are certified BANGERS
None of the music here is from Mario Kart Tour.

So happy with the end results for these amazing retro tracks! Gives me lots of nostalgia back to the good old days of MKDS and MKW, can't wait to see future tracks! Would LOVE to see courses like N64 Bowser Castle, Wii Rainbow Road or 3DS Wuhu Loop!

1 years since the Booster Course Pass, and my god, we've come a long way since Wave 1 in 2022.
Very awesome that these waves improve its quality since Waves 1 and 2 especially with adding characters now. Very exciting for the final wave to end off this DLC of this 10 year old game, jeez christ, what is time anymore.
My rankings for wave 1:
8: Toad circuit.
7: Tokyo blur.
6: Sky garden.
5: Shroom ridge.
4: Paris promenade.
3: Choco mountain.
2: Ninja hideaway.
1: Coconut mall.
Sure, a few things aren't textured, but overall the tracks look quite nice (especially Ninja Hideaway and Choco Mountain) and the remixes bop. Definitely going to get this!

I'M IN LOVE!!!! The first wave was such an amazing experience. From being able to play Choco Mountain for the first time in over 20 years (I'm that 90s kid) to exploring several tracks never before played such as all of the tour tracks and Sky Garden. But the ultimate best has got to be the Ninja Hideaway. I was blown out of my mind....and onto the floor! And yes I will be playing again shortly!

I've always wanted to see Shroom Ridge become a Retro track. Thank you for making it a reality Nintendo. And for making Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi and/or Rosalina as the intended characters!
Coming back to this trailer after watching the trailer for Wave 4 and seeing how meh the graphics look in this wave compared to the most recent wave it surprises me
I thrilled with all of these courses and how they all turned out. Absolutely love Ninja Hideaway, my favorite of them so far!
the best is tokyo ninja hideaway was the one i hated the most
To be honest i hated it at first but later on I LOVED Ninja Hideaway, was SOOOO really soooo hard to dominate the track, i spent probably 1 hour and 30 minutes to just be really good on the track, but the design and uniqueness is so OMG that is one muy favorites tracks of all the game and Mario Kart Franchise as a whole, indeed.

I'm glad you can buy separately as opposed to the expansion pass preventing me from getting N64 on its own. That annual fee isn't worth it, better off with joycon drift on Tokyo drift err blur lol couldn't help 😂
Mario Kart Wii is the greatest entry in the series. I'm hoping for Peach Gardens, Toad Factory, and Rainbow Road (Wii)!

It’s crazy to think about how much Mario Kart has evolved.. In my opinion, these tracks did not get the same amount of effort put into them as the base tracks so some of them feel empty. Regardless, they are still fun and welcome additions!
I agree, they feel very empty but I think that’s partially because of the design of the tracks they picked. Why did they pick all these basic empty tracks?
The anti-gravity gimmick like the "3D" slider is fading into obscurity. I don't mind it that much, but still, if it continues to be like that...
"Mario Kart 3DS/Tour DLC upscaled for Switch" even mk7 used the glider/underwater more than wave 1 tracks. (for now lol)
I think the other courses felt less empty because they had things moving in the background like banners or birds, which made them feel more alive. These new courses don’t have that. Also the trees and bushes are more basic and don’t have as much detail as the original Mariokart 8 courses.

Ninja Hideaway is actually one of my new favorites, mostly due to how we literally go through a dojo with multiple paths.

A lot of people complained for the Tour courses… now I can say that they are amazing because of the different routes you can take depending on the lap… for Paris Promenade I think the last lap was a reversed one… that was amazing, and I became speechless when I tried Ninja Hideway… probably the best track of this wave

I wish we got more courses soon! My favorite is Ninja in this wave. I hope we can get remake of Maka Wuhu and Rainbow Road (3DS), DK Mountain or Dino Jungle or Bowser's Castle (GCN), and Waluigi Pinball or Airship Fortress (NDS), and Koopa Cape (Wii) in the future waves!

Along with Coconut Mall, I wanna see Moonview Highway, Dry Dry Ruin, and Toad's Factory getting added
Choco Mountain, Shroom Ridge and Sky Garden bring me such a nostalgic feeling when I played on the DS with my buddys. Ninja Hideway has a terrific soundtrack and lore! Love it!
My only hopes are getting more Characters or Costumes to have a different perspective

I love what they did with the tour tracks, really cool, the one thing I am sad about is that on shroom ridge the cars go the same way
One similar thing that's quite strange is that the track is in a weird middle ground between Toad's Turnpike and Moonview Highway where the order and type of vehicles don't change between races but the color of cars is randomized
Finished the 1st wave and I must say I had a wonderful time with it, despite minor gripes with we'll...you know

I really hope DK Pass gets in. I found it very fun when I used to play Mario Kart Tour, so I would love to see it here. It's perfect for this game.
God, Sky Garden really seems like they're pulling from some of the more obscure tracks and I'm here for it.
These tracks are all pretty interesting, ive been enjoying them all! I love how fast everything feels and cant wait to try them with friends
Paris Promenade last lap is sheer chaos going against the previous racers, it’s so much fun

I'm having a blast with these courses, even with graphical gripes that don't ruin the fun.
Makes me want a better track selection mode for online, though. I mean, only 3 options plus a random? C'mon, I want to play Choco Mountain or Ninja Hideaway online more often!
They did coconut mall dirty in my opinion
As they have removed;
The escalators are now ramps not stairs
The cars in the parking lot don’t move
The cars also have shy guys in them not miis
There is only two cars
The course feels shorter
Overall I feel like the coconut mall looks more like a holiday clubhouse

My thought on the DLC is I love it! The courses are really fun to race on in Grand Prix/VS and time trial mode, I sadly haven't played online yet. I'm personally glad that Tour tracks were added because some of them looked really fun but I can't play them on my phone because it's discontinued on it. I also love that they brought back the band to remake the music into the live form! If I had one thing to dislike about it, it would be the fact that Coconut Mall doesn't have Miis in the cars at the end (this is also the only thing I dislike about the DLC)
Overall great DLC imo! I personally give it 11/10
The added courses won't be added to worldwide online lobbies until Tuesday.
Choco Mountain was an insta sell for me! And Ninja Hideaway blew my mind, that course is bonkers! I was jealous the mobile game got support and the full sized game didn't for quite a while and that DLC deal is great. While I'm looking forward to the future of MarioKart, MK8 is great and with the upcoming tracks will see a lot of play on game nights :)

I give up! I guess wave 2 isn't gonna come out this Summer. I've been anxiously waiting since Summer break first started. How disappointing! When wave 2 finally does get announced it's not gonna be as exciting to me anymore...

These courses are all gorgeous and I can't believe we are getting FORTY more!!!
So excited to play the Mario Kart 8 DLC. Probably going to wait until all of them release so I can have a better experience playing them for the 1st time.

The ones from Mario Kart Tour are the best ones 🥰 The way the course changes every round is just amazing

Seeing the boxart of the old games is so wholesome
been finished with first set and like my other siblings I hold very special feelings for Tokyo Blur say what you want about details on a screen but it is so nice to play anew course without annoying conditions to race it

Aside from a few small complaints I have with the courses graphically, and the lack of moving cars in Coconut Mall, I love these tracks. Ninja Hideaway has become one of my new favourites!
I love the music remixes for all of them. Especially Choco Mountain and Shroom Ridge.
I'm really enjoying those courses and I'm looking forward for those future waves in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
