Sweden is number 2 in the world of exporting music, it's not just artists, it's writers an producers too, look up Max Martin, you will be surprised.

I love FAK. I got turned onto them around 2012, just after they released this album. I ended up also buying their previous 2 albums as well as the next 2, Stay Gold, and Ruins. I haven't gotten around to Palomino, yet. Some of the most thoughtful songwriting and beautiful voices I've heard in a long time.
If you're interested in another sister act, check out *Larkin Poe* . They have been performing since they were young and in 2024 won their first Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues album for Blood Harmony.
Here is one of the singles, "Georgia Off My Mind".

First Aid Kit is one of those artists that I wouldn't say ordinarily falls within my musical taste, but somehow they still fascinate me and pull me in. Another Swedish duo that has spellbound me in the past 10-15 years is Iamamiwhoami (read it as "I am. Am I. Who am I.), an audiovisual project by singer/producer Jonna Lee and producer Claes Björklund. They have so many different songs to choose from, but perhaps "Fountain", my personal song of the year in 2014, would be a good starting point. Completely different sound than First Aid Kit, but I think you might like it: ruclips.net/video/bRazgMj_cfE/видео.html

You can't go wrong with listening to the studio version as your introduction to a song. 99% of the time it's the version we all hear first anyways, and you should experience the song the same way. This is the one the band put down under perfect conditions and everyone is playing and sounding their best. The sound is mixed properly, and all the voices and instruments are at the right level. This is what all the live versions are compared to when people say "They're just as good live."
Live versions often have inferior sound overall, or are not mixed right....drums too loud, or not loud enough, too much ambient/crowd noise...and people could argue for days about which of the 20 live versions available on youtube is the "Best".
Having said all that...I do understand the undefinable "LIVE" dynamic in seeing the musicians actually performing, but as far as a first listen I actually prefer just the audio- no video at all to distract me from the lyrics, vocals and musicianship.

Thanks for saying this. In general, I almost always prever studio/original versions. Especially with bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rush etc. I agree 100% that it's important when hearing a song for the first time, you hear it as most of the world heard it first. Radio or album versions. Thanks again.

First Aid Kit is one of those groups who usually sound best live. They are so incredily talented. They've made Patti Smith, Paul Simon and Emmylou Harris all tear up when performing live and if that isn't a feat I don't know what is.

@@tovep9573 Well now you're adding extra elements to the equation that don't apply to all situations because they were there specifically to honor those individuals, and they were there in person..whereas we are just watching a recording of the performance. I love FAK- they are awesome live, but I haven't heard a live version of "Emmylou" that sounds as good as the studio cut. The one they played for Emmylou was close but the studio mix still sounds better and the pedal steel parts are played better.
