This video is dead on! Thank you for making it before I tested every lav and every connection on my HollyLand!
Yea I did run into someone who had one that didn’t have this issue, so I wonder if it’s a certain serial number batch.
Yep. That is what I did. tested/switched multiple mics, cables and chords. Still hisssssssssssss
I just ordered a new cable for mine before seeing this video, still glad to finally know what the issue is. Thanks so much for this!
My pleasure. Now that they’ve released a new model I’ve lost hope for a fix.
Thanks for the review. Considering a purchase and have now made enquiries with the retailer. 👍😎🇳🇿
My pleasure. Hope you get a good unit that helps you improve your content creation. 👊🏾
After studying this video, I was concerned because I just bought these mics. It has been brought up that when you go to "Stereo" each transmitter sends a signal into each channel Left and Right. But when in "Mono" each transmitter sends a signal to both Left and Right. So, this would definitely increase the gain creating noise. Also, if one transmitter is on but not doing anything it could also create noise. Wow, this is not just a drag and drop setup.
My friend thanks for the info. Let me know how it goes. I might be sending mine back too, when they get here.
I’ve sent some test recordings to them, which they’ve sent to the technical department. This issue doesn’t exist on all units as I have met others that theirs that performed correctly.
Good review. Whats up Hollyland for sure! Call em out for that hiss. It SHOULD be clean out da box. Preach!
They never got back to me either after I sent numerous sample recordings to them.
Yes i have this issue too! The noise floor is quite poor. Should have watched this before i bought it... thanks for this vid!
I know me too 😅😅😅
I've same problem bro, stereo mode has a signal-noise ratio aceptable, but the other modes dont. I hope Hollyland fix this, but I guess they cant because it may be a hardware problem. If you get news from them, let me know! Thanks!
They’ve been unable to identify the problem. I haven’t heard back from them in months. Now that they’ve released the Max I don’t think they’re going to care about these unfortunately.
@@delmixedit I had another problem they coudnt to solve. Suddenly box wont to charge, it doesnt react to anything. I wrote to Hollyland, and they wanted to send me a new changing box (paying 110 USD + custom). I didnt accept because its to much (new is about 220). I waited and discharge box battery to empty, then box started to work. Thats my experiece, may be help to others. Thank you!
@eltraductor_ok thanks for this. I haven’t used mine in a couple months now and realized yesterday that it was completely dead 😅.
Thanks saved me time.
my pleasure!
Where I'm from I spend $2100 hard earned dollars for this unit. That noise is throwing off the quality of my productions. They better put out an update.
Sadly doesn't look like there's been any updates to the firmware since 2021 😔.
I feel sad right now, I got these and they were not cheap. It sucks so much, it has a lot of noise and its worse than the cheeper mics
Yea definitely pretty disappointing. I’ve managed to get through by just always being in stereo mode, but once I can replace this set I most certainly will.
I always run my cameras input on the minimum and set the gain on the transmitter because camera preamps are notoriously bad....I do that on all microphones that have their own preamps bc its actual audio equipment. The cameras preamps are not its strong points. I get good clean audio in mono mode doing this.
It’s not the camera. The same noise is present monitoring from the headphone output on the Lark150 receiver.
@Delmixedit I dont know if my set is different or what but I have a quiet noise floor. Version 3.0.4.4. I just set up my camera audio input all the way down to 1 with all my microphones that have gain adjustment and it comes through clean. 🤷♂️
How nice to know that it exists not only for me... I'm really sick of this company. Why can't you record in stereo? It is possible after all to put a right or left effect...
Recording in stereo is what I do. It’s just slightly annoying when creating quick content because it’s an added step in the process.
I would like to know, if when you go to "Mono" can you drop the dB settings down, does it sound better. This issue is probably a hardware issue that firmware might not fix. When in "Stereo" mode the sound you are creating is going into 2 separate preamps then sent to the receiver, Left or Right. And as he has said they sound great. So, what must be happening is that the 2 signals must be coming together somewhere in the circuit causing a gain in the signal creating noise. Somewhat like running signals in parallel no gain. But running signals is series you get a gain.
You are correct. To further the issue, I’ve also had the issue with the gain set to 0 only using one transmitter. So the only thing that makes sense to me is that there’s a issue with some receivers where it doesn’t properly detect that the other receiver is not in use at all.
is this issue happening with the Hollyland Lark Max as well?
No clue. I’m not eager to buy another system from them because if this issue. Their tech support team hasn’t even gotten back to me after I spent a week sending different test files to them.
Mine use to be ok. Suddenly now there this issue
Oh that's odd that is randomly started happening after being fine. Make's me wonder if if there's something internally that get's jacked up over time with handling.
Got an issue too same hizzing sound and now one mic is not working 😢
Oh no! That is crazy. At one point I thought it was just a particular batch of the mikes, but the more comments I get on this makes me realize that it is definitely something wrong.
Loved this video!!! Thank you for clarifying the issue and justifying my insanity! This was 7 months old... Any update?
You’re definitely not alone. I’m just getting ready to test out a suggestion they told me.
“Actually both of mono mode and safety mode will mix the mic1 and mic2 sound, that is why the hiss will be increased a little bigger than stereo mode. Please reduce gain for the mic.”
Thanks for watching!
Tried their suggestion and it didn't work, so now waiting for their next reply.
We've noticed this on the M1 too.
Dang! Not looking good for me recommending their mics 😔
I just got mine, sadly i didnt see your video before I bought mine. I was surprised by the hissing noise and thought mine was broken. Tried googling for solutions and couldn't find any. I'm glad I found your video. I think I'm only gonna have to use the stereo mode for now, hoping hollyland comes with a firmware update to fix this issue. Thanks a lot for this video! Subbed!
Oh no. I wondered if it was just me. I’ve even tried a brand new cable from a well known cable company and still have the hiss.
Really hope they can fix it because it’s really the only thing I don’t like.
I have bought it in Oct 2021, and since then, I have notice the annoying hiss that it does. I don't believe they will update the software at any time what is sad.
Wow. That’s really saddening.
Was this issue ever resolved
Unfortunately it was not
What is the best way to mitigate this static / noise floor ?
My way has been only using stereo mode and just panning the audio to the center in post.
Thanks keep up the great work brother
I just noticed this problem with mine yesterday and. It's just too bad
Did you have it prior or did it just start happening?
Nice vid....
Thank you Graham. There's so much to like about it, but this one issue is a deal breaker.
I have this and it SUCKS!!! Total waste of money!!!
Yea their support has been useless as well. Doesn’t make me want to invest in any more of their wireless mic systems.
Hi. I just recently looked at the Lark and after seeing your video, I tried mine. The noise doesn’t change on mine going from stereo to mono so I’m wondering whether you have a dodgy receiver. The self noise isn’t that low on the Lark 150 in any case, but there is no difference when I switch other than it appears on both channels rather than one. Yours is really quite bad and after seeing your video, I checked another guy’s where he had a problem and he was told to return the unit to China. That was going to cost him quite a bit which is really poor support too.
My video where I am using it all the way through …. ruclips.net/video/eZlNctF068U/видео.html
Thanks Ian! It certainly seems like there's a bad batch of serials because I'm now getting about 50/50 responses on this. Shame that they told him to send back to China at his expense. Going to check out your video now.
You're probably right .... quality control. After hearing what you're getting and then seeing how they dealt with another guy who had problem made me think about another video. I had a problem with the Rode Wirdless, but they were brilliant and it wasn't even their fault! (I lost a fluffy) I get the feeling that Hollyland aren't so helpful. I wondered whether you should return yours because it is quite poor.
Thanks for your comment on my channel. I subscribed to support a fellow engineer/RUclipsr. Nice video!
My pleasure. Thanks so much, we’re all in these trenches together ✊🏾
