    Love watching the GO train pass the line of cars! !

    GO's 12-car consists have over 1800 seats, and a crush load capacity of over 3000 people, making them the highest-capacity trains in North America.

      @colonelcactus2462 3 месяца назад +12

      Just 1 of these trains per hour has enough capacity to eliminate the need for an entire freeway lane. If GO ran just 3 trains per hour in each direction it’d match the capacity of the neighboring highway

    • @OntarioTrafficMan
      @OntarioTrafficMan 3 месяца назад +6

      @@colonelcactus2462They actually run up to 7 trains per hour during peak periods The trains carry far more people than the highway during rush hour

    • @OntarioTrafficMan
      @OntarioTrafficMan 3 месяца назад +6

      @@colonelcactus2462The problem is that each train can drop off a tsunami of people that completely overwhelms bus and road systems. On weekends in Niagara Falls the trains often arrive full and over a thousand people line up for the bus. But to carry that many people you would need more buses than the entire fleet of the city's transit system so people can wait in line for over an hour before they can fit on a bus

      @@OntarioTrafficMan gonna be wild when they run 6 trains per hour on off-peak, basically near subway levels of service

      probably due to commuters coming to toronto, and I am sure its no secret that the rent in toronto can get pretty... opressive... so thank goodness for that

    I live in Nova Scotia and can’t wait to move out West to the GTA.
    I like your work, but these GO videos remind how busy that corridor is!
    Thanks so much!

    Realistically how long can these loco haul at max when providing power? Is there a limit as to how much they can pull? If ignoring platform length limits.

    • @OntarioTrafficMan

      12 for the MP40s, 10 for the F59s. That's purely a HEP generation capacity.
