However, as gorgeous as it is, it wasn't useful for any kind of gameplay and I found myself leaving it in the hangar in favor of other ships that were better than it (such as my corsair). However, I still kept my 400i assuming that when exploration gameplay is added I'd find use for it. That was before the nerf. Then the nerf came, and I've been shaking my head ever since. The *entire purpose* of the 400i was to be able to go exploring in style, and if you found yourself in a hot zone you could high-tail it out of there (flight, not fight). To help with this it had a high top speed, rear turrets to provide cover fire for your retreat, and power plant and cooler redundancy so if you lost one you wouldn't be dead in the water (and a crew member could repair or replace it while keeping the ship flying). Between master modes and the nerf, where does the 400i now sit? Consider you're out in the verse, come under attack, and need to get out of there. What does that now look like? Well: - All ships are significantly faster in nav mode than in scm, so you switch to nav mode to get away from danger as fast as is possible. But, your nav mode speeds have now been nerfed, so your get away isn't as fast as it used to be. Still, nav mode is faster than scm, so you should be able to get away from danger. I mean, that's what rear-facing defensive turrets and your massive shield are for, right? They are to help you survive long enough to make your escape. - Except that in nav mode, those defensive turrets no longer work. So they are, for all intents and purposes, worthless to you. Nothing more than ornamentation, as they are only meant to cover your retreat (the 400i was never meant to be a fighter). - Also, in nav mode your shields no longer work either, you only have them while in scm. So that big fat shield that's supposed to help you survive long enough for you to make your get away: yep, it's totally worthless to you. - Also, you only have 1 power plant and 1 cooler (nerfed down from the 3 of each you previously had): so if weapons fire (and again, it doesn't even have to be ballistics here, as your shield is down while you're making your escape in nav mode) hits *either* your cooler *or* your power plant, you are dead in the water. Add to that its previous defects: super small cargo area, cargo area size and clearance that limits you to not being able to carry anything but the *smallest* of vehicles, poor handling, &c., and what you have is a ship that looks amazing on the showroom floor, but is absolutely worthless for anything other than sitting out on the showroom floor. Ironically, the 400i and the corsair are about the same size and pledge price point. And yet the corsair --- which is supposed to be a ship made of shoddy components and craftsmanship, but with lots of big guns strapped to it --- has 2 power plants and 2 coolers, whereas the high-end luxury ship doesn't even have that basic redundancy. Oh, and how does the corsair currently compare to the 400i (based on default loadouts and stats from erkul): same max speeds; same roll, pitch, and yaw rates; corsair has *6 times* the pilot controlled dps; same size shields (but the corsair has a beefier default loadout); corsair has nearly twice the cargo capacity; and corsair has double the hydrogen and quantum full tanks (wait, isn't the 400i also supposed to be an explorer?). Oh, and did I mention that I can fit my nursa in my corsair?... Sure, the 400i has a bunch of missiles, but I'm baffled as to why: it's not (and never was) meant to be a missile boat, and you can't use those missiles while you're running away in nav mode. So yeah, it is good that CIG somehow found a way to nerf the 400i further. Because, you know, it was so op to begin with...
My fav ship too. I was soo mad when they nerfed it I stopped playing for month. Then upgraded to StarLancer MAX and Zeus ES which was proberbly CIG's masterplan...

I feel like CIG has missed this idea with the 400i its pretty has some beefy shields but in a world where cars had guns on them the Bentley would have good guns and be a force..400i looks pretty and could/can take a beating but its puny weapons are outclassed by every single ship in its weight class by a considerable amount (Taurus, Connies and until recently corsair) it desperately deserves a gold standard that brings it into it deserved slot in game, luxury, and at least a competitor to "budget" ships in same class but in real world comparison should be better than them!!

I know I'm the odd one here, but somehow all the Origin ships rub me the wrong way. To me they seem to be painfully obviously form before function, and I don't even like the form. All the weird roundish and bendy parts somehow make them "uneralistic" to my eyes. I'm talking about the "spoilers" of 300 series for example. The same thing irks me about the MISC ships, and some Anvil ships like the Hurricane. The wings really put me off. I guess I'm not made to appreciate the finer art and style. The RSI Dorito shape and exterior language with a more luxurious Phoenix style interior would be peak design for me.
I have a Zeus mk2 MR (ES Loaner) and a 400i that's been my daily driver since Luminalia 2950. I love the work that's been put into the Zeus series, but for now, the 400i is just the clear winner for most things. Faster and more maneuverable, the 400i can keep its dual S4s on target easier. And with an STV in the hold, nearly every type of game play can be accomplished.
The art to enjoying Star Citizen is to let CIG do their job, REBALANCING is critical for making common sense of all its components/features and gameplay, that will see Chris Roberts vison eventually come to fruition. When we brought into the game, we accepted theTOS: ''DISCLAIMER: These are our current vehicle specifications. Some of this may change during the 3D design and game balancing process''. This disclaimer is on every ship 'OVERVIEW' page, its not rocket science, its there to be understood, far to many so called backers are just living in denial, they think a little moaning will stop the forward march of development......it wont, it cant we have now moved beyond that stage. Everything about the 400i is poor, its interior is a hairdreser/nail salon, the seated views are nonsense, the loading ramp is just awkward, and Origin ships are 'hideous', 600i included. People need to stop this ''nerfing'' nonsense, its childish and needy, everything is in flux and will recieve a REBALANCE at some point possibly mamn, many times. I like the Meridian paint on the 400i.
@@davewills148 400 i is the most beautiful ship in Star Citizen period. As for the rest, I agree but they are abusing their power. In no way under the sun is the 400i an upgrade from the Zues..... Not even close. You're confusing the "luxury tax" as an upgrade point. It isn't... The Zues and the 400i are neck to neck by comparison, and the Zues comes out over the top by utility alone. The 400i will shine when they implement high value, VIP contracts that you can only pickup if you have an E-1, 400i, 600i, 890J, Phoenix, or any other luxury ship I might have missed. Outside of that, the Zues is arguably the better choice. Remember these "taxes" when making ship purchases and you find yourself puzzled by an exaggerated cost. They all incur a hike in their pricing. Everytime. *Alien *Armor *Luxury *Personnel Transport
@infinitespace239 i watched the entirety of your video. I'm trying to tell you that it's not meant to be a whole upgrade over the Zeus. If anything, a side grade. As in, one is good at some things while the other is good at something else. Your argument throughout the whole video was that the 400i is so bad and should be so much better than the Zeus. Again, I respectfully disagree. It sounds like what you want is a 600i against the Zeus... And that isn't what this is at all. I personally don't like the 400i. Never have... But once personnel luxury ventures are in place, the 400i will undoubtedly shine.
I think both ships are garbage to be honest. 400i had its issues and now they created more issues with it. I cant even put an Ursa in the Zues so whats the point.

its so sad.. 400i is the only origin ship i like and iv wanted to pledge it for some time and now i have an opportunity to CC it for 5 dollars... but .. this nerf keeps pulling me back..
night be smart so just wait another year... sigh
I just got it, who cares, I love it love the design I ll fly it and enjoy it. o7
@infinitespace239 better Citizen than i am.. i cant seem to gather the balls needed to do the upgrade... i even have a 10% discount code i could use to i can upgrade the zeus cl to 400 i for 25 dollars.. should be easy cos it seems i dont really like the zeus as much as i thought i would.
Not for you.
When we brought into the game, we accepted theTOS:
''DISCLAIMER: These are our current vehicle specifications.
Why every new ship is OP and then get nerfed when a new ship is launched??? Why didn't they at least one time brought underpowered ship in the game and then rebalance it to better? I think CIG is not to be blaimed but marketing team, and they have to do as they are told. o7
@@infinitespace239 I do agree with your new policy, one which i myself have adopted, and works brillantly, ''dont get attached to a ship, buy whats current , anjoy it, melt and move on. I melted every ship i owned, from the : Endeavor master set/Galaxy IAE Pack/Liberator/Odyssey/Starliner, and aload more, now enjoy the Zeus and soon the Polaris/Starliner. Enjoy,
I dont like this Yacht feeling ot the 400i. To be honest, I dont like any Origin ship.
For me, it looks like 1990s James Bond (played by Pierce Brosnan)
So, If you feel the 400i. If you want to be this Jeff Bond (played by Elon Brosnan) in the verse, stay with the 400i:
Play the game and dont look at stats or numbers.
I have pledged for the zeus CL and I love this ship, despite the fact, the Freelancer MAX is better and less expansiv.
@@throdwobblermangrove6200 Ah I see youu you have chosen what you like more. What sells cars is the feeling and also the ships in SC. o7
@@infinitespace239 Even more in SC. My abolute favorite ship in the game is the mole because I can feel this ship.(and I love industrial gameplay)
Seems like player favorite ships get nerfed so loyal players buy other ships.
The justification for CIG to nerve the 400i is marketing sales. This is how they have chosen to do business.
I don’t understand.. the 400i is more of a luxury small explorer. I do t think it should be more powerful than the rough and ready Zeus.. its not a fighter
Zeus is not a fighter. It is Volkswagen, 400i is Bentley. Which car is better??? This is what CIG is missing.
Zeus isn't a fighter either.
Zeus = toyota supra ... 400i = ferrari 458 italia... thets whay Supra are beter 😉
Everytime.
*Alien
*Armor
*Luxury
*Personnel Transport
My point exactly, it should be a bigger, better, logical update from Zeus but it isn't, please watch the video before you comment. o7
Shields ftw
interrior in 400i is a mess
No, it is actually very functional, but it is bugged
✌😁🍿
I think both ships are garbage to be honest. 400i had its issues and now they created more issues with it. I cant even put an Ursa in the Zues so whats the point.
I think the Zeus is better looking than the 400i.
The 400i is really ugly.
Take that back lol, 400i is at least to me the most beautiful ship in the game. It is so with 400i eather you love it or hate it. o7
