I wonder if Hornby has considered a 1830 follow up? Lion, Planet, 3rd class carriages are all well drawn and documented, and there's some very clear, scaleable illustrations of Northumbrian, and a range of goods wagons and vans.
Sad to say my Order was accepted by Hattons early days, when delivery time came I was advised they were not able to supply because they did not receive their full stock quota from Hornby!!! guess I now need to await a re-run, whenever!!! :-(
Please can you tell me what is the height of the chimney on the Rocket as I have some low tunnels and this may be the yes/no answer as to whether I buy one and need to cut the chimney down as it does look rather tall ?? !!!
Very disappointed in how this was distributed. I pre ordered one in early January just after the announcement of the release. In the third week of Feb, I received an E-mail from the retailer saying that my order had been cancelled as they did not receive as many as they expected and they had oversold them. Shoddy customer service and logistic operation by both companies in my book.
The only way to guarantee delivery for Hornby pre-orders these days is to order it direct from Hornby. I know that one very large UK retailer deliberately oversold its pre-orders of the Tri-ang version several times over in order to be able to convert the sales to the standard version. They have done the same for the W1 and APT. They did you a favor though, this model is very light, poor quality and very fragile. I had two on pre-order with different retailers. I cancelled one pre-order after they converted it to the standard version, the second I returned due to problems with the locomotive. I ended up using the money to buy two new Dapol locos instead.
@@Georgeconna32 I sent mine back because it's poor and not worth the money. I had pre-ordered mine the day they were announced. Guessing the one retailer really oversold their allocation. If you watch the review videos you'll see the only way it's going over points is at high speed.
Totally fed up with hornby myself!! I pre ordered direct with hornby, my order was accepted. Got to the end of February and I noticed people had got theirs! Went online to check my order, it had vanished. Called hornby and they said due to a system glitch, my order was cancelled! Never even told told me.
I too placed my pre-order just after the Hornby announcement, the retailer up in Widnes, cancelled my order with a terse email on 28th February. They implied that Hornby was responsible for short delivery. A load of old tosh! Won't be using that retailer for anything in the future.
That particular retailer has a business practice of overselling pre-orders related to Hornby. They assume that some pre-orders will fail to pan out, they assume they will get additional stock unsold by other retailers and they use it to pad sales of less popular substitute products. With the case of the rocket, they underestimated demand and were unable to fulfill pre-orders, so they turn around and blame the manufacturer. They've been doing this for a long time, I suspect the W1 and APT-P will have similar problems, which is why I pre-ordered those directly from Hornby. On the upside, the model is very poor, so they did you a favor!
@@Georgeconna32 Nope it's definitely poor quality. It's mostly plastic, even parts you wouldn't have expected. It visually looks great from a distance but it is very light and very fragile. The foam packaging probably not the best choice for something this fragile. Would have been nice to have a more traditional heavy cardboard style tri-ang box. Not worth the £££.
Robert Scott, Wyvern Model Railway you have been spewing this all over RMWeb....we don’t need it here as well. You didn’t get a model which is disappointing but you’ve said your piece enough times. Indeed, if you read a thread on RMWeb you would have seen a retail shop with 6 more Triang packs available for RRP.
@@AmazeTase Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I buy thousands of pounds worth of models each year. Over the past decade I have pre-ordered dozens of locos, this is only the second one I've canceled and only the third one I have ever returned. It's your money to waste, but again this model is too light and very fragile. This shouldn't be an issue since it might be another 100 years before some of those boxes are opened. 😉
R3809 is the centenary edition limited to 1500 models and includes a limited edition certificate. R3810 is the standard edition of the same model, however this does not come with a gift certificate and it is not limeted edition. The coaches have different names in each pack and the boxes are obviously different.
Hi, I have just been given ownership of my dad's/grandad's old hornby 3 rail, is there a version of the rocket that would work on that track? Is very hard to find if they do, any help is muchly appreciated.
hi it is very difficult fot get out the loco of his place, run vety well, the color are not same wagon / loco, many plastics ...bof he run very well for ho , and good ho , the model 's 1960 is to big , but 2020 is very good for ho the details are very good, but where is the explication 's page for to look the motor ? good , bye

I have to say I am very disappointed with this set. Terrible, flimsy quality - shoddy production. One of the steps was even broken lying in the box before I got it out. I'm sure the wind would do for the rest if I ever ran it!! Hornby should be ashamed of putting their name to this.
I've just brought my rocket today for Christmas. I didn't know it was going to be that small.

Ebay is your best bet, it's quite readily available. 👍🏻
Well I'll be picking one up
Enjoy it Luke!
I do soo love the look of the rocket, and time to get the latest issue of HM 🙂🙂
That's the spirit!
When I first saw this model was being released I though oh no not again but now having seen it I think it
looks a fantastic model, well done Hornby.
It's very smart and full of character!

Very good video production. 👍
Thanks John!
Is your latest magazine out?
It officially went on sale yesterday (March 5) - HM154, April 2020.
Hornby Magazine That’s great but I didn’t see it in my local newsagents
@@GeorgeLowther2000 available online via the link in the description too
beautiful and little, but this train was historically correct?
The ultimate question
FUNNY barrel of fun.
Fun only comes in barrels!
Why is date 1825 , should be 1829?

That's a shame, send it back for replacement. 👍🏻
Not really worth the trouble - the quality would still be poor/flimsy and the replacement would break in no time at all.
This has sold out, so what’s the point of the video
Try another retailer 😁
