Rap in anime music has sort of been around since early 2000s tbh, the reason alot of westerners don't know about them is because most imported anime (not including online ones) are more kiddish or more shoneny, which tends to avoid the rapping. Or the they made a English DUB version over the song, or change the song to something else, or its only available on TV in the old days during night time or completely impossible times for us to see.
Please watch the first episode. It's one of the best pilot episodes I've seen so far! You really have to go blind into this show to get the best experience! Please don't read any comments that are about explaining the story. And yes, this show exactly looks like that.
The best way to describe the show without spoilers is that it is about the "dark side" of the idol industry and also the entertainment industry as a whole. The first episode was really strong. This song was written for the show and the characters from the music video are also from the anime. I'm really glad you didn't see the english lyrics because they straight up spoil the first episode completely.
Yeah basically producers & staff etc being various types of Cringe & edge, trying to exploit stars n shieet for their own internal politics & money & fame related reasons
@@skebaba918 That's pretty much idol's in general. It's making fun of them and telling the truth about being an idol, it's impossible to my standards, just get a job as a waitress

I honestly can’t recommend the first episode of Oshi no ko enough, then listening to the song again with lyrics. It hits so much different with that bit of context.
This anime has literally the best first episode (if you can call it like that) I've seen in a long time. It could easily be a separate movie looking into the production quality and story density alone
you know it's a really great work when all of your community keeps telling you to watch it,but no one spoiled and keeps everything about it secret cuz they don't want to ruin your journey
Another Banger from Yoasobi which makes your body dance but has lyrics with dark meaning. And yup this song is written for the Anime and tells the core of the story.
Glad that you reacted to it! You've guessed it right that the characters in the MV are from the anime. However, I'd like to point out that those aren't reused scenes from the anime, but rather they produced another animation with the characters purely for this MV, which makes it even more amazing. The name "Oshi no Ko" can be roughly translated as "The child(ren) of my favourite idol". Obviously there can be more interpretation to it, but that's the basic meaning. And as a manga reader, I can say that they'll probably have quite a few insert songs in the anime, but the story itself isn't musical, but rather it's about the dark side of the Japanese entertainment industry. As all the others say, if you want to start the anime, then you absolutely have to go in blind. Episode one of the anime just premiered last week, with the length of 90 minutes. So if you want to catch on with the hype, it's not too late. When you finish the episode, do go back and look up the lyrics for "IDOL", and you'd appreciate even further how well Yoasobi has incorporated elements of the story into the song itself.
As a minor "correction," more for people who are interested in the Japanese wordplay here: in general (i.e, when reading the title for the first time), "Oshi no Ko" should be interpreted as simply "My favorite idol." Once you're acquainted with the premise of the show, it reveals the double meaning of "the child of my favorite idol" (this is not really a spoiler though, this is trailer-level stuff). This is because, in Japanese, "child" and "girl" are often connotated together. The term "oshi" literally means "to push," and refers to the one idol you like the most (this term is also used in Hololive). While people who use the term often simply say that X is my "oshi," since the word is an infinitive it's actually missing any context for what is being "pushed" - this context is often provided by "no ko". So the full phrase "Oshi no Ko" provides more context for people who wouldn't understand the shortened phrase "oshi" - instead of saying "to push" they say "the girl I push" hence "my favorite idol". However, like I said, "child" and "girl" are often connotated together. If you already know that an "oshi" is referring to the idol, as someone in the know would, we then have "my oshi's child" or "the child of my favorite idol". Since the title is intentionally set up like this, it's difficult to translate, hence why people will refer to it as "Oshi no Ko" in English. As a side note, the first episode has a lot of wordplay and interesting hidden meanings in Japanese. I won't bother writing them out here but it's really interesting to look into and adds a deeper layer of understanding for some of the named characters.
@@mokinataa "As a side note, the first episode has a lot of wordplay and interesting hidden meanings in Japanese." Man, if only there was a way to bring attention to this in the episodes themselves. Some kind of "notes" or something. If only it were possible.
To be fair it's slightly unfair on all other anime out there since the first episode is 1h30, which is equivalent to 4 episodes of a normal anime. So for a real comparison we should use the first 20 minutes of that episode.

Speaking of "Monster" the opening from Beastars - Koyori from Hololive did an amazing cover of it along with Subaru, Polka, Suisei, Sora and Chloe! It's well worth a listen!
The first two episodes of this anime are absolutely insane. I was definitely not expecting what this show brought, and I hope you get to experience it without getting spoiled. I can't wait to see where it goes!

The very fact that you can go through the comments and see not a single spoiler just proves how amazing the first episode was and how badly no one wants to ruin the first time watching experience. I've read the manga before hand and i can absolutely say this is probably the first time a manga ive loved has been adapted so phenomenally that I prefer the anime without question.
My recommendation for another opening from this anime season is magical destroyers. the anime is definitely a hidden gem this season and the op is just awesome. I would love to see your reaction
When I first saw this video, I thought I was listening to Ado's Film Red ist packed all into one song. Which fits perfectly for the insanity that is Oshi no Ko.
For me this anime has the best first episode at least of the last 10 years, but what an episode! INCREDIBLE!!! It lasts 1 hour and 22 minutes and has a perfect pace that tells the story with lots of twists and a super super interesting plot that gets better and better by the minute, then this opening which is really fantastic literally resumes what the anime is in all respects, even taking as text true sentences said in the anime and has a fantastic music video that I reviewed, after seeing the first episode of the anime, you can tell he's perfect for what he's telling the story especially in the last scene of the music video by also reading the lyrics of what he's saying. You should really watch the first episode which for now is the only one out, I highly recommend it.
That song and the anime only came out last week so whatever people were telling you check out for so long, I don't think it's this one. You should also check "The Blessing" by YOASOBI, the opening for Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury.
Episode 1 aired last week with movie lenght and has been praised by the community and pretty much all anime sites as one of the best, if not the best, first episode ever. I recommend going into it blind, it's an amazing experience.
The MV is not clips from the anime, however it does feature the characters from it and is animated in the same art style The song basically centers the character Ai (purple haired girl) in the anime The first episode was amazing and I hope to see you react to it!
If u wanna watch it, u probs don't need to worry about copyright. It's not what u typically call a "Music anime" or even an "Idol anime" Oshi no Ko's first ep was fucking amazing. The full range of emotions is there and each is taken to the max. I can tell.. YOU. WILL. LOVE THIS.
Yeah, the anime just started last week. As a manga reader, they met all of my expectations! The premiere was so well done! If you do decide to check it out, it's best to go in completely blind though
I love that the pilot episode is so long and essentially covering the whole prologue. It did a great job of hooking you in for the story. Really recommend watching it.
WATCH THE ANIME. The first EP is literally the best episode EVER! It's got a lot of plot twists and heart-wrenching moments. I'm sure that you'd enjoy it
You neeeed to jump on this while it's airing Luke it's best jumping into it now while it's going it would bring a lot of attention to the channel! 😄 Also this is one of those shows you should be completely blind going into so avoid reading comments explaining what it is about 🙂👍 The reason everyone recommended it a lot recently is because Episode 1 just released and is over an hour of quality
“This doesn’t give anything away” you’ll understand it better if you read the translation and watched the anime It actually fits the story incredibly well
My new addiction. IT IS AMAZING. But definitely worth catching the 1st ep. It is one of the best ep1 in anime I've got the pleasure to experience so far, and I'm all for this ride.
So....I just watched this show last week and spent a few days watching reactions to it. This is the first time I've actually watched the OP, since I skipped it during the show. Watching it with you, it JUST occurred to me...... What if......Ai was a TWIN herself..........she had twins and came from a orphanage, so has no clue who her dad was either, or if she had more family. I just blew my own mind. Now I have something else to look forward to in Season 2.... maybe?
Oshi no Ko has by far the best first episode I ever seen (And I've seen a lot), I hope you're going to react to it, and without being spoiled ! I really didn't expect what happened even if I heard a lot about the manga before

I would have preferred you see the episode first. Knowing the story really changes the song. Definitely watch this, it’s so unbelievably good it’s a must watch! And listen to the lyrics again after watching the episode. This is one you can keep up with weekly
Plot of the anime: It's about a teenage girl that already an idol in the age of 16, only one step behind to be the most successful idol in Japan. The intention of the story is to show us the dark truth of idol industry. Yes, this also applies to Kpop entertainment industry. Source: oshi no ko
Please watch the first episode, that is eighty-minute masterpiece!!!!! ''Oshi No Ko'' actually means ''the idol I support'' and ''the child of my idol'' . The main story was crazy!!! You are gonna move to tears!!!!!!!!!!
@@Zacres I am from Taiwan, so I try to explain it from my language. If we check the words' meaning, '' Oshi'' means '' push '', which means support here. ''no'' means ''somebody's'' ,which means ''my''or ''the person I support's''.Eventually, ''ko'' means ''child''.That is the trick the writer play in the title, which has two meanings, depending on how you cut the sentence ''Oshi no ko'' in Japanese. ''Oshi no ko'' means ''the chlid(the idol,Ai) I support'' ,and '' oshi no ko '' means ''the child of my idol''
I've seen the episode and I was reading the manga for a while (didn't drop it for quality reasons, just hadn't been in the mood for that genre) and I can only tell you. WATCH. THIS SHOW. Watch it BLIND. I cannot tell you anything else except for this: It is like Demon Slayer, in that it is an anime that transcends the manga it's based on, something already of legendary quality, and makes it something truly special. I cannot go into more detail, this is something you need to have zero expectations about going in except that it's REALLY good.
I highly recommend checking out the anime. Episode one is movie length and it's going to be weekly. Oshi no Ko translates mainly to My Star but it also means Favourite Children. Also the studio that does Oshi no Ko animated the music video for this. Everything relates to Oshi no Ko, including the lyrics.
Many people have said this already, but I definitely recommend you watch Oshi no ko's first episode!! Having gone into it only knowing the premise and being completely blind with everything besides that was such an experience with a rollercoaster of emotions. Would love to see your thoughts on it as well if you decide to watch it!
Oshi No Ko is a brand new anime with currently only one episode out but the one episode is a 82min long one for the premier. It is about the entertainment industry so it is not a fully music anime. The charracters are from the show. And no it is a stand alone song so the scenes are not from the anime and were animated purely for this song. And i wont say if it is a heavy or cherry anime. Just enjoy. It is sad that there were no subs to this song but if you plan to watch this show than you can be happy that there were no subs. And yea the first ep is a 10/10 for me. Overall it could easily be a 9/10 show for everyone else easily. ! ! !
Man, actually hadn't watched to opening to this one because I tend to avoid openings for shows that I don't want spoiled. This song was great but man, literally crying now.
That is the MV for the anime. The characters you see in the MV are in the anime, but this was animated individually from the anime (not clips from the anime). That's all you need to know before watching the anime, now go give it a shot as soon as possible.
watch oshi no ko as seen on hidive it is brand new episode 1 aired on april 12th a pilot of 1hr and 22 min norm anime episodes are roughly 22 min making it basically unheard of it is based on a manga which i havent read, I EXTREMELY recommend going in blind
Luke, FYI, The visuals for the opening haven't come out yet, but they will come out in a few days time. The visuals will be different to the one you just reacted to. So I'm hoping one day you will react to that and hopefully you react to the series. It's first episode is the best first episode I've ever seen before. Also those characters seen in the MV are the same characters from the anime.

if and when you finish the first episode, come back to this song with lyrics. :)
thank you very much for your fun reactions
The very fact that you can go through the comments and see not a single spoiler just proves how amazing the first episode was and how badly no one wants to ruin the first time watching experience. I've read the manga before hand and i can absolutely say this is probably the first time a manga ive loved has been adapted so phenomenally that I prefer the anime without question.
My recommendation for another opening from this anime season is magical destroyers.
the anime is definitely a hidden gem this season and the op is just awesome. I would love to see your reaction
Oshi No Ko is not just a good anime,
It is PHENOMENAL ❤
I like the "Rock" face on 1:21
That song and the anime only came out last week so whatever people were telling you check out for so long, I don't think it's this one.
Ended up watching the anime cause Yoasobi made the opening and I'm glad I did
5:50 months have gone by but that part still makes me cry.
The MV is not clips from the anime, however it does feature the characters from it and is animated in the same art style
The song basically centers the character Ai (purple haired girl) in the anime
The first episode was amazing and I hope to see you react to it!
If u wanna watch it, u probs don't need to worry about copyright. It's not what u typically call a "Music anime" or even an "Idol anime"
Oshi no Ko's first ep was fucking amazing. The full range of emotions is there and each is taken to the max.
I can tell.. YOU. WILL. LOVE THIS.
Damn look how happy Luke is on the thumbnail. Bet he's gonna be so happy and giddy watching this show 😊
After watching this anime... I just want episode 4 right now
this is the concept of the anime, it looks beautiful and cheerful on the surface but tackles darker themes in reality
The lyrics are SUPER important for this song. It's half the experience
Yeah, the anime just started last week. As a manga reader, they met all of my expectations! The premiere was so well done! If you do decide to check it out, it's best to go in completely blind though
Yeah it’s the a 10/10 music anime, I really haven’t seen any music anime that have this much depth
you absolutly need to check out "the blessing" its another yaosobi anime op for gundam: the witch from mercury its so freaking good
I haven't seen the show yet, but I have read the manga. And this song fits so well, holy crap.
"lies that someday become true" gad dam
the way he slowly looked at the camera during the rap had me DEAD
I love that the pilot episode is so long and essentially covering the whole prologue. It did a great job of hooking you in for the story.
Really recommend watching it.
Oshi No Ko's first episode was genuinely fantastic! I wasn't expecting to like it as NEARLY as much as I did! Super excited to see where it goes!
Bro she takes up the whole fucking opening and they still killed her off😭😭😭
Yes oshi no ko is a very lighthearted anime about an idol and her kids 😁
WATCH THE ANIME. The first EP is literally the best episode EVER! It's got a lot of plot twists and heart-wrenching moments. I'm sure that you'd enjoy it
Don't sleep on the first episode of oshi no ko
It’s like a bunch of different emotions the anime is a wild ride
Would definitely recommend checking it out! Just don’t look up anything about it or look in the comments!
I really like this song and anime, I even tried to make a cover of this anime song
Now I am your new subscriber greetings I am from Indonesia 🇮🇩👋
YES! Thanks for reaction
You neeeed to jump on this while it's airing Luke it's best jumping into it now while it's going it would bring a lot of attention to the channel! 😄
Also this is one of those shows you should be completely blind going into so avoid reading comments explaining what it is about 🙂👍
The reason everyone recommended it a lot recently is because Episode 1 just released and is over an hour of quality
“This doesn’t give anything away” you’ll understand it better if you read the translation and watched the anime
It actually fits the story incredibly well
"are ppl enjoying it?" my friend it shoot up to #1 spot in most anime lists in 2 days xD
Now I have something else to look forward to in Season 2.... maybe?
Easily anime of the year
It met all the manga readers expectations and far exceeded them
Also don't read comments too much
It's best experienced as a blind reaction
Oshi no Ko has by far the best first episode I ever seen (And I've seen a lot), I hope you're going to react to it, and without being spoiled ! I really didn't expect what happened even if I heard a lot about the manga before
You definitely gotta react to the OP for The Legendary Hero is Dead! It’s really good
This is my first time commenting on your videos I always love your reaction to Attack on Titan, You are absolutely one of the best reactors in the community. So please watch the first episode of Oshi no Ko, I'm already read the manga before anime announce, It's a masterpiece!!
I would have preferred you see the episode first. Knowing the story really changes the song. Definitely watch this, it’s so unbelievably good it’s a must watch! And listen to the lyrics again after watching the episode. This is one you can keep up with weekly
The mangaka also famous from "Love is war", you'll love it
The Anime is a very Wholesome Anime
And You need to watch it Blind, you wouldn't want to be spoiled
the song blew up right after episode one and episode one was one of the best ep ones.
Plot of the anime: It's about a teenage girl that already an idol in the age of 16, only one step behind to be the most successful idol in Japan. The intention of the story is to show us the dark truth of idol industry. Yes, this also applies to Kpop entertainment industry.
Source: oshi no ko
*Recommendation* : "Sing My Pleasure" from Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song OP
Please watch the first episode, that is eighty-minute masterpiece!!!!! ''Oshi No Ko'' actually means ''the idol I support'' and ''the child of my idol'' . The main story was crazy!!! You are gonna move to tears!!!!!!!!!!
i think its "my star"
@@陳泓叡-r4d is it right to assume you're japanese?
@@Zacres Oshi no Ko (【推しの子】, "My Favorite Idol" or "Their Idol's Children",copied from Wikipedia. If you don't trust me, trust Wikipedia .
@@陳泓叡-r4d okay sir
I just realized at 7:04 ai jumps on the two and disappears hinting her death
WE NEED A FIRST EPISODE REACTION. IT JUST CAME OUT LAST WEEK AND HAS ALREADY RISEN TO THE TOP AS ONE OF THE BEST ANIME EPISODES IN HISTORY.
Many people have said this already, but I definitely recommend you watch Oshi no ko's first episode!! Having gone into it only knowing the premise and being completely blind with everything besides that was such an experience with a rollercoaster of emotions. Would love to see your thoughts on it as well if you decide to watch it!
So good, damn
They really know how to fit their song in the anime.. Akase and Ikura creativity are just really amazing
No build up just straight punch into the face is literally this song give you xD
Without spoiling anything, there's a reason this is trending. Definitely lives up to the hype! Hope you do a watch along for this on Twitch!
The animation is just for the song surprisingly
Man, such a good show and that first episode should be criminal to spoil. But yeah those lyrics to the song as well :O
That is the MV for the anime. The characters you see in the MV are in the anime, but this was animated individually from the anime (not clips from the anime).
That's all you need to know before watching the anime, now go give it a shot as soon as possible.
Im gonna go watch the first episode the 3rd time now because its just sooo good.
It will just blow your mind!!!
watch oshi no ko as seen on hidive it is brand new episode 1 aired on april 12th a pilot of 1hr and 22 min norm anime episodes are roughly 22 min making it basically unheard of it is based on a manga which i havent read, I EXTREMELY recommend going in blind
Would LOVE to see a reaction from you to this anime so far it is one of the best anime of this season by far
1:21 the way his left eyebrow went ⬆️⬆️⬆️LMAOOOO
The first episode hit so hard that it exploded and instantly became the highest ranked anime on My Anime List
That won't last, it's just people being super hype for the new current thing.
@@1234_Flux Yup, and manga had a decent fanbase so the moment episode 1 aired a lot of people gave it just 10/10. I personaly gave it 9/10, we will see if I my score gonna drop or raise.
It's both, it's a realistic and fantastical anime at the same time, it's sweet and screwed up at the same time. Can't give much away without spoiling!
I love it when luke stares shocked at the camera its hilarious lol
U need to watch oshi no ko seriously I was very surprised after watching the first episode and seeing how amazing it was
OMG the first episode IS SO GOOD!!!! Like 10/10 ep 1!
One of the best first episodes I have ever seen
