    This is very interesting. A couple years ago I started rucking, or carrying weight while running or walking or hiking. I've noticed that my stability has greatly improved without any other type of mobility or stability training. And I ain't no spring chicken, so take that on it's own merits.

      @@ChaseMountains I was told years ago by a podiatrist that my feet are 'too squidgy' (that's what she said!) i.e. that I don't have proper 'shock absorbers' in them - in fact all my joints apart from my elbows are slightly double-jointed, and at 69 I can still easily place my palms flat on the floor beside my feet without bending my knees. I always thought this was a good thing but apparently it means that running can cause problems.
      I recently discovered toe-strike running which feels much better, but I still prefer a brisk walk - it feels much safer.
      I definitely need to improve my balance so these exercises are perfect for me.

    Hey man, I just wanted to say. I subscribed to your channel and mailling list about a year ago when (this time last year) I was preparing for a 6 week expedition to Central Asia. I learned so much from you, and how ankle support don't mean sh*t as well as how important barefoot training is as well as the shoes.
    I still do your three step mountain proof knee workout everyday and I have to say you have hands down toppled the bullshit footwear industry as well as calling out tonnes of doctors and supposed footwear specialists.
    I love your inisght and in this complex world dominated by a motive for profiteering, you make us happy healthy and strong.
    Whatever happens, I will always take heed of your advice because you are responsible for helping peopel enjoy the outdoors and reversing the damage caused by the industries that were supposed to be helping us but in reality made life hell for us.
    I run barefoot in Merrel Vapour Gloves and I have ZERO knee pain. I used to get horrid pain before, I even got some ALtra's recntly. I joined a trail running club in my area and they all find me fascinating running in my glove trainers. They don't understand a lot of them, and there is stigma attached to being in this club.
    However, for me it is worth it - I do get terrible shin pain but it feels good. Like constructive pain and after a day or two it goes away completley so I reckon this is my body conditioning to running hard with no cushioing. However, you have to sacrifice downhill speed for this way of running and it can make it harder to keep up with the others in traditional cushioned sole shoes.
    If I had enough money right now, I would buy your mountain proof knees programme and you deserve every penny of it.
    Keep it up!!!
    Love from UK.

    It can be pretty hard to pinpoint muscle tightness/pain causes. It may have very little to do with alignment and could be related to heavy metal toxicity, mould toxicity, oxalate overload or most commonly, stress, which basically boils down to unresolved emotional wounds. I know when I stopped driving school buses and began working on an organic farm, on my feet all day, my back pain got really bad! It was actually due to the mould problem in the rental I moved in to.

    • @ChaseMountains
      @ChaseMountains  3 месяца назад +1

      @@carl8568 it’s usually pretty simple but some cases are harder. Kidney issues from mould/metal toxicity seem to becoming more common or at least more people seem to becoming aware of it. I did a hair mineral test analysis but I’m not sure it’s so accurate. I assume you moved out of that place and you feel a lot better? I would imagine working on an organic farm would be very helpful for health in general!
      And yeah, the mind/emotions part is very very real

      Yeah man, it was here in Victoria, Aus. The RE agent was absolutely terrible hey, trying to tell me there was no problem with the house even though there was testing done revealing there was a big issue, which they tried to keep from me. I had a 4 man tent setup in the backyard, sleeping in it with my dog, which was a bit rough mid-winter as the town I was in is at the bottom of Mt. Baw Baw. It took a while to start to feel better, it was extended water fasts which really helped in the end. Not exactly fun experiences, but I knew what to expect and they reset you in different ways. More gratitude not just for food, but for life in general. And I get to hike around the mountains again with half decent energy 😁 Cheers.

    The balance exercise is very good, the more unstable the surface (like carpet), the harder it is. Second one hurt my back as it compressed the lumbar spine for some reason.My worse worry while hiking is not twisting my ankle, which could strand me if ligaments are torn, hopefully the balance would help with ankle strength.

    • @ChaseMountains
      @ChaseMountains  3 месяца назад

      @@piranniayt breathing into the lower/mid back will likely create some space for more flexion in your spine. I showed that briefly in the most recent video, it’s in a time lapse but you can see me doing it with a client. Basically sit on the edge of the chair, bend over and breathe! Very helpful

    Hey Chase, love these kinds of vids. For my daily stretching (20min)routine i do the one Jean Cleaude Van Damme has posted on his channel (alongside a few moves i picked up from your videos and other's). I've been doing this for 5y now and it's helped me massively.
    Now that i'm hiking more and more i would like to add a bunch of more hiking-muscle/balance oriented practices onto the end of this routine; for this i had about 15 YT tabs open trying to pick and choose exercises/routines which wasnt very efficient from my pov - as it made me have to watch about 4h of exercise content just to find a few moves id like to incorporate.
    This brought me to the following idea, i would love a video from you that includes movements that would be a great routine all year round for keeping up fitness and mobility, to be done at home/outside/and on a daily basis when hiking(thinking like a 30min routine).
    Basicly a video that combines all your most useful and simple bodyweight exercises thats doable everyday both while at home and while out hiking :)
    (might be a nice way to get people more interested in your indepth programs aswell ;) )
    Enjoy your summer in the mountains :)
    PS: thank you for sharing all this stuff to help us be healthier out on our hikes and life itself consequently

    Thank you for this interesting video! I immediately ran and got three pairs of socks to play the game. Turns out socks are too hard for me even though I thought I had been working on my balance (daily for well over a year). To start I am using my foam roller on its end and trying to put my toe on top of it for the foot part. Does that seem like a reasonable place to start or would it be better to stick with the socks and use a support to get all the way down?

    • @ChaseMountains
      @ChaseMountains  3 месяца назад

      I think the strategy you’re using there is good. Might be useful to look into the idea of “tripod foot”, perhaps loosening up the feet with some manual release/massage techniques and working on your single leg balance with eyes open, then with eyes closed and or turning the head while balancing. All of this stuff is in mountain proof ankles!
