- The 1M seats have caused a revelation. I need the BMW Performance Recaros in the M3.
I was lucky enough to have someone contact me about some seats that would work in the E92 M3. The seats even have the correct stitching color.
These really complete the interior for the M3.

Anyone who's worked on cars can relate to 7:26. "You mother flip!" I'm glad you leave that stuff in, because it's the best part.
I realize I'm pretty off topic but does anybody know a good website to watch new series online?
Should be learning for my exam next week... but i guess a 22 minute break won't kill anybody 👀
Matt if you don’t have one already get a Milwaukee Tool 3/8 cordless ratchet 2457-20. It is perfect for those tight spaces. Its a great tool. Also a suggestion lose the extension and put the bit directly on the ratchet when you were putting the seat bolts in the floor if it could fit.
Those are really good but i doubt it would help here ,because its about the same height as regular ratchet without the extension. Something like the naro driver would help, I'm sure sonic makes something like it maybe even in a 3/8.
There wasn't enough room to fit the ratchet head.
you also get those spring thingies that allows you to get into those tight spots as it bends. I am by no means a expert but i would grab those first to try
I think those seats swinging around next to the fender fried something in my brain lol
Anyone else terrified as he pulled the first seat out that he’d knock the interior with seat rails and then the paint? Tight fit!
Lol yea, plus the boxes in the way made it a tight fit
Juan Esteban yup, I was wincing as he went past them 😂
I was nervous watching lol
This build is so f’ing sick. You’re doing everything if every dream to do to an E92
Matt I must admit youve taken me from hating this model of M3 to absolutely loving it! Thanks
I recently got those seats also for my E92 M3. Now I just can't wait to install them after seeing this video.
Those recaro side mount piece is gorgeous
You gotta get a ridiculous $16K suspension now. If anyone will do it. It’s you Matt. I’m counting on you bud.
Love the Sporsters for a daily driver. My favorite seats. At this point 2 of them are worth more than my e36 M3.
What you need for that stubborn bolt is a Ball End Torx.
Seats look fantastic.
I darn near busted my knuckles when I had to place the spring back when I installed the M3 split arm rest into my e90 Matt. When you were doing your spring I felt your pain haha. Congrats on the seats bud. They are sick.
I think once you build your garage, working on your own cars will be way more thrilling and comfortable than juggling around your inventory. Keep on growing man!
They look absolutely wicked! I'm not usually into modding cars in any way unless it's done tastefully but there hasn't been any changes to the M3 or 1M that I've said "Hmm, I don't like that".
I have the same seats in my E92 M3. The previous owner was 6'4" and I am more vertically challenged at 5'11" so I had to install 3/4" height by 1" wide by 20 some inch long stainless steel spacers (powder coated black) so that I got a much better seating position. These were placed on top of Macht Schnell's COMPETITION LITEWEIGHT FLOOR MOUNTS.
Really becoming the ultimate driving machine
It's coming along nicely!
Like this please!
As far as I Know you have to code in the seats. It has something to do with how the airbag in the steering wheel deploys due to different seating position.
Do some research I don't remember where to change what so the car know it has the performance seats installed. You can disarm the weight sensor at the same time:) this ensures the airbag will deploy (won't if nobody seats in the seat) at least this is how we do it in Germany:P
Wow those seats are amazing, I can only dream of having them!
I picked up an e90 m3 last year no where near as clean as yours but man love the way your build is going and I’m catching the mod bug watching these videos haha
Why do I enjoy watching him fumble around so much!
Those seats are amazing
Man, do I love this car. Definitely one of the best specced M3's or there!
I hope you cleaned the dust out of the seat rails after installation. I would have had to do it before I put the seats in. Don’t want dust on the carpet or risk dust under the bolts ;)
Awesome seats the car is looking amazing Matt love what you have done so far.
Jp
boy, after seeing that center consul I am glad that mine is held on by 4 screws to a hinge.
Awesome looking seats.
Those seats look awesome. Love the steering wheel too!
The seats are a nice upgrade 👍🏽...taking notes 📝!!!
Seats look great Matt. Thanks for the vid.
I know I said on one of your previous 1M videos that that was my attainable dream cars, but an E9x M3 is definitely also up there, I could only dream of putting genuine M Performance Sportsters in one though. My current car (Renault Clio 197, you dont have them in the US but they are great little hot hatches) has OEM optional sportsters in them and they are some of the best seats I've used to date, on par with Pole Positions in my opinion
I love that M3
Matt you have very good taste my friend are you planning on putting it up for sale
Nice! The mix matched seats don't look bad at all.
Off topic: what was that air chuck with the digital tire pressure gauge you were using a few videos back? I can't remember which video it was.
amzn.to/2SdkY1u
Where did you buy these seats that has “BMW performance” stitched in it? Great video by the way!
For the seats you could have put a short torx socket right onto the ratchet.
now that's a nice mod. Now that E92 needs a rear interior delete carbon fibre kit with a roll cage. Then a CF bonnet, drive shaft, would be interesting to see how many KGs you can shave off.
Na...I'm not interested in those.
I my opinion proper race seat is the most comfortable thing you can get in a car, you can buy a race seat that fits exactly to your body + you can mount them super low.
It's a completely different driving experience, once you try race seat, you will never want to sit in a regular seat, night and day difference..
Love them mate
Looks great
Wow those seats really make the car... Keep me in mind if/when you sell the car 😏
cant wait for headlights to be done
Man, slick seats, only time I wish I had black interior instead of the peanut butter brown I have.
Awesome seats good job
Nice seats, but I personally love the factory e92 m3 seats..
Hi bud. Any ideas on the weight savings with these Recaro seats Vs stock? Also, can you please say how comfortable they are in your opinion? I plan to use my car for long road trips and comfort is essential. Thank you for sharing this video
OMG!!! Matt doing an impro 😱
He must be getting normal...
Bavsound makes great underseat speaker replacements. You should think about it.
Yeah, I'm considering them versus Bimmertech.
Just know that it WAS entertaining to watch you struggle to screw in the new seat rails
And are those all black Metcon 2’s?
Yeah, Metcons.
Always loved these seats bmw should have made them available in the US back in the day when the e90/92 was new (of course US law doesn't help) always doing the best mods Matt oem plus I like the way you think
Great work
You lucky son of a b*>%^^+%##^ lol..those seats are so 👌🏼
@Zombie Head Do you know what are some actually good seats?
Zombie Head legit, I bought the real BMW performance seats for my E92 but they ran out of stock and I never ended up receiving them. I have been on the lookout for an alternative ever since
Man those look good
Man, looks so sick now, 👍👌
I'm glad I'm not the only one who says seat heaters lol
Beautiful seats! Are they available on the market?
This may sound stupid, but did you think about using some sort of lube on the pins to have a barrier in between to maybe get rid of the squeaking? IDK, just a thought
@11:59 you used the term ‘eh’. That makes you honorary Canadian 😉!
Any plans to get the fire extinguisher that was made to fit perfectly under the passenger seat looks super clean and is extremely rare in the US
I don't think I will since I don't intend to take this car to the track.
Closest mods to fit and feel is steering wheel and Of course seats. Nice move.
Hello, i have the same coding issue, did you find out what had to be coded?
Beautiful seats and also a decent amount of weight reduction 👍
The seats are hot man.
It really pays to have all those tools available when needed...
Hey Matt, just wondering, why do you use metal trim removal tools? Surely these scratch and dent into the plastic trim you're removing.
Depends on the task. I have both.
Sick!
Might have missed it but did you get around to the loom fit and coding in the end?
Hi Matt. Could u please show me how much the performance seat recline if u pull the lever all the way up? I have e92 also and I’m thinking about getting it too!
Hi, I wanna change my seats also but dont know what to do with seat belt... did u fix it?
Now that you've had the seats for awhile, would you say you're sitting higher or lower than the stock seats? Any way to adjust the brackets to go lower?
What are you going to do with the old seats? Sell them? Those seem to be pretty rare. They’re really nice and different. I like stuff like that.
I will keep them for when I sell the car.
Seats look sweet ! What TPi are those ratchets? They sound low
I'm not sure what the spec is. That's a good question. I'll ask when I tour Sonic next month.
Can I ask you a question. How did you resolve the airbag issue?
I think m4 seats would look better. Great video though 👍
Couldn't you just take the extension off when tightening the rear bolts of the seat rails :P
It didn't fit.
@@ObsessedGarage Yeah I should have figured you would've tried that first
all is right in the world.
I thought the reasoning behind these seats were weight and lower height? I know they hug you well but so do the stock electric seats when adjusted to you.
They are not much lighter than mine because I have the manual seat option.
Two pieces of BMW Performance pieces I've yet to get my hands on, those being one of them... sigh
Hallo from Germany. I want ask you what you did in seats coding . Can you explain please? Or video link will be good . I have the same here . Thank you
Hello, i have the same coding issue, did you find out what has to be coded?
You need some shorter torx bits
How To Lower Your Car:
Step 1: Throw 6 bags of salt in the trunk..
Step 2: enjoy!
18:45😂
Ha, ha....
Hi , I am missing the plastic cover that say Recaro in white and the one below it at 0.44 does anyone knows what name of that part or number so I can order them
Why did you need extension on your wrench to fasten your seat?
I haven't watched the whole video but are you planning to part ways with the old seats?
No, I'll keep those in case I ever sell the car.
Anyone know what rail/seat mount set up this is?
I’m on a quest for the best mounting option for an e92.
how did you resolve the seat belt and air bag errors???
Alex alpinemss.com
any chance you're selling the old armrest? you mention you just replaced it, correct?
it might go up for sale on the obsessed garage marketplace
When does your Hanes sponsorship start?
Were these an option from the factory?
How will the Alcantara or suede ( depending which is used) arm rest hold up? For a DD over the years. Even with cleaning will it show an elbow spot?
That's the byproduct of the Sennheiser mic...and mouth breathing...
real cars guys always hoover the floor before seat´s come back in, what are the plans for the rear bench it does not match the nice front seats and the stiches on the gator and shifter are now also not matching, just to annoy you ,my guess is there are 4 screws/clips under the armrest so the leather would pop off and you would not have to deal with the spring. at least that´s the way on vw/audi stuff
regards
Sören
is there high adjust on the seats if so ,pull them all the way up and ditch the lenght on the wrench and you should have room to tighten/loosen the seat bolts next time either way ditch the extra lenght on the wrench, i have done alot off swapping airbags over in s-line audi seats/leather in vw passat/touran. and with you being the way you are iam kinda dissapointed that you did not get the seat weighted. you could se if the seat belt lock from the stock seat could fit they are just one bolt and some clips for the wire
regards
Sören
Where can I buy seats like that?
I have just install the same Seat! How do u fix the Seat belt and airbig fault code? Please help.
Alex @ AlpineMSS can do remote coding.
Obsessed Garage thanks!
Lift with your back in a jerking twisting motion
Ha, ha...
Has he replied to anyone on where he got these? They are Recaro Sportster CS BMW Performance seats, but I cant find this version, one that says BMW Performance in that font and style and black/gunmetal colour combo. Was this custom? Maybe they are a rare option/spec on some newer gen BMW?
They were discontinued a few years ago. You have to buy them used now.
@@ObsessedGarage cool thank you
Did you or would you sell the front stock cloth seats??????
No, I keep all the stock parts for when I sell the car.
I’m been thinking about getting these for my 1M, what’s your longterm thoughts on these seats? Thanks in advance
They are amazing! I could never go back.
Obsessed Garage thanks for getting back to me, really appreciate it.
Same but thinking of the pole positions over these. What say ye for the 1M?
@@Breakchecks PP are lovely too. We can’t have fixed back seats in a road car in Australia.
@@davida8713 such a struggle trying to decide to get GT’s or PP. thx
One day, all of the screws I’ve dropped in my center console are going to fall out and it’s going to sound like a jackpot from an old slot machine.
i think the e92 without navy its more beautiful...
Will this seat fit a bmw E82 135i?
Is this a reliable car?, other than doing the routine maintenance has this car given you problems? A lot of people say BMW's are money pits...
It's not cheap to maintain, but I've found these to be pretty reliable.
@@ObsessedGarage thanks for insight, much appreciated
So what does it mean when it says E92 and whatnot before the M3 or any bmw? I’m confused
It's the chassis "code". Every model gets a different designation depending on the generation. E92 is 2004-2013, 3 series coupe.
That makes much more sense now. Thank you
