It's rather disappointing that female characters & their friendships with each other are no long valued, particularly when they're young and attractive, where a certain segment of the internet without fail will automatically interpret the relationship through the lens of "Girl on girl is hot". I mean how exactly would your idea of a meaningful platonic friendship go between two women who essentially grew up together as sisters & have shown ZERO romantic or sexual interest in each other across two games despite having every possible opportunity to do so? Kind of strange for a character who isn't remotely shy about expressing herself sexually don't you think?
One thing i really love about the story is, this said with minor spoiler warnings, the cheesy motivational final lines are belted out by baldur, it gives it more weight when the end truly happens, and just feels more fitting for the character to me.
I’m so glad you’re talking about this game! This game was a huge reason why I got the Wii U when it came out! And this game did NOT disappoint! Fucking amazing!
It's wonderful watching these videos Sphere Hunter. Especially now that Bayonetta 3's latest trailer has dropped and the internet is on 🔥 again for this magnificent Queen and Platinum's usual masterful work.
I still love how we've gotten more info about Elden Ring than we have about Bayo 3, and yet the former fan base acts like they've gotten nothing at all
The reason we see inferno as a forest in Bayo 2 is because both Bayo, Jeanne, and Alraune willingly chose to die or otherwise go to inferno. And in the Divine Comedy, suicide is punished by becoming a tree in an infernal forest. We're only seeing one side of inferno, and it reflects the 3 main characters that are in that part of the story. Also when Rodin dies in Tag Climax he's incased in Ice, referencing Lucifer in Cocytus
Really appreciate that your thumbnails have been so consistent through out your game reviews. The artists behind these works of art are truly incredible ❤
Just gonna say that Suzi's / Sphere Hunter vids are always so nice to watch because of how much work goes into them and so much passion (for lack of a better word) being shown. Plus she is funny and entertaining too ^ ^
I honestly love that there is someone who gives Bayonetta so much thought and love. I actually prefer 2nd game aswell - the only bad thing I can say about it, is the lack of dance sequence after credits :P.
I love the fact that you are always so documented when you do these presentations. You even take the time to say what some of the most hardcore fans of this type of gameplay perceived as regrettable.
I _really_ like the lack of 'super mode' in the first game because when you get really good at the game and you've unlocked a lot of things, there's this wealth of things to use magic on! It feels good to be consistently invincible with the Butterfly, or to rack up crazy combos with Sergey's Lover's clones, or to constantly spend smaller amounts of magic on Tetsuzanko, Heel Stomp, and the Umbran Spear, allowing for quick ways in and out of combat with no effort in exchange for some magic. On top of that, when you have a grasp on the combat, you'll almost ALWAYS have plenty of magic, and I always feel like I've got an infinite amount of Tetsus because my need for them never outweighs my usage! On top of that, combo points. Throwing around Torture Attacks is great as a casual player who just wants enemies dead, but requires very careful use when you're going for good ranks, as the damage always outweighs the combo points if you don't know when to use it. Umbran Climax _immediately_ introduces a hierarchy. It's no longer "what am I spending magic on for this battle?", it's now "ok, what am I doing _instead_ of Umbran Climax?"... ...and the answer is usually "Oh, nothing. I'm just using Umbran Climax." There is almost NEVER a reason to use Tetsuzanko or Heel Stomp or Portal Kick or Witch Twist, spending three orbs of magic for _one_ Wicked Weave, when you can just get UC and unleashed about 20 of them. I think another 'full bar' alternative to Torture Attacks could really work! But just not the way they did it in this game.
Yep, they would need to redesign Torture Attacks to maintain their utility in a Climax world and a separate meter is one possible solution though not one that addresses how Climax breaks the scoring as it can stun and kill the screen. I still want a super mode in Bayo (the mecha is something) but it should be closer to Devil May Cry 1 (taking the essence of a weapon for elements and a new look - you can see this in Bayo 1 during weaves) than trying to make Serious Mode present during the whole game.
@@thelastgogeta I would be into something that kept the Infernal Weaves, but didn't add more Wicked Weaves! And maybe each Infernal Weave could have different cool effects, like better knockback or better juggling, or just anything that adds to new cool ways to play the game. And at the same time, casual players who just want some more damage and some flashier stuff would still get that use, just like how Torture Attacks play into casual AND complex play!
@@Iinneus I don't know how much of it is Kamiya's witchcraft or dumb luck for basically every game he directs to have really good balance for the core gameplay even if they have quirks. I'm still not sure what can be done for Infernal Weaves besides making them a 50% meter option which works for one attack (players decide which one to cash in on, the big screen clearers are at the end of combos) but maybe multiple of them could be possible if you fulfilled some criteria... No idea if it is just having the right accessory or something like exchanging another built up meter... Yeah, I'm closer to thinking that Umbran Climax should be tucked into a separate gauge than other actions like Torture Attacks right now.
18:49 Fun fact: there are quite a lot of easter eggs in the two games that kinda solidify this theory. A few examples are an artwork of Dante playing poker at The Gates of Hell with Enzo, Antonio Redgrave also existing in the DMC universe -since Dante apparently took the alias Tony Redgrave as an homage to him and also the fact that Rodin apparently creates Bayo's weapons in the same way that Dante gets them. The only thing that makes this theory impossible is the obvious difference in design of Malphas, since in all of his appearances in Bayonetta had a design that was pretty similar to Griffon's while in DMC5 he was an horrendous amalgamate attached to a featherless bird.
I was first introduced to Bayonetta through smash and I found Bayonetta 2 at GameStop. I thought I’d never put it down! It was my favorite game of all time and when Bayonetta 3 was announced I purchased the bundled edition for switch and loved the first game too. I’m so happy to be introduced to this great character that’ll always have a place in my heart 💜
Sphere Hunter: In Bayonetta 1, the Shotguns and ROcket Launchers were kinda just there... Me, sweating, remembering I pick those weapons ASAP and never ever change them afterwards.
@@TheSphereHunter I totally respect your opinion, and I mostly agree: the second game has crazier and more interesting weapons, which I switched more often. But I LOVED handling rocket launchers as tonfas and pelting enemies with explosives.
Oh, you think Bayonetta and Devil May Cry take place in the same universe, Suzi? That’s cool, but what about the other games Kamiya’s directed that crossed over? Bayonetta, Jeanne and Rodin are playable in Wonderful 101, Dante appears in Viewtiful Joe as well as Trish, and the Pillow Talk weapon from Bayo 1 is used by Waka from Ōkami. It’s all connected, my dude.
YAY! New Suzi video! :D I love hearing you talk about games you love, it's so inspiring! Bayonetta being a "Nintendo character" is one of the most bizzare twists of fate a I love it. Here's hoping Bayo 3 news is on the horizon soon

I saw Suzie dressed as Bayo on Instagram and naturally, I got excited. Partially because I was excited for her to talk about this game. ...but more because she had done Bayonetta cosplay. 🥵♥️
I remember that they put bayo 3 on hold in order to push the development of astral chain forward quicker, but now astral chain is out I don’t know if platinums main focus is bayo 3 or a different project
One of my favorite moments of Bayo 2 was how in the jet plane mission you can sub out the jet for an Arwing if you have the Fox outfit. It even has the lasers and smart bombs. It was so much fun playing StarFox in Bayo
Women in DMC: DANTE, NERO, PLZ HELP ME!!! ZZZZZZZ Women in Bayonetta: We went to Heaven, Hell, flew outside of the Solar System, killed our LITERAL GODS with Big Bang attacks, time travelled a couple of times, saved multiple realities/universes, and still managed to buy the caviar on time for the Christmas party.
One of my favorite little details about the game is the fact that Bayonettas shadow is a shadow of Madama Butterfly because Bayo sold her soul to Madame Butterfly. This game takes what made that first game so good and just make it better. I agree that umbran climax makes the game a bit too easy in a sence. They should have locked it behind a combo barrier or something.
It's like that in the first game too 😅 Jeanne has Madama Styx and Rosa has Madama Khepri. It's a shame that Khepri didn't have a full body model bc of time restraints when the game was being developed so she's just in hell, sending us punches and kicks 😭😭😭
When I first played this game, I played it a lot like your friend, and while I didn't have a particular problem with it, I can understand how people can see things like Umbran Climax as op. I would say I overall had a more enjoyable experience with this game than the first. And yeah, Moon River slaps so hard. Great video as always Suzi! 😊
I was just thinking the same thing, after all these years she had a chance to continue to make the character SHE SAW AS HER OWN. And to see how it all went down is crazy. I love this series though and am hyped it didn’t get derailed and it’s coming in just 4 short days!
At least Shannon couldn’t instakill you while you were defenseless, though. That’s the one thing I can’t stand against Resentment. It’d be fine if Resentment were a boss, but as someone who likes to get through chapters without continuing, it sucks to lose ten minutes of progress to a single mistake.
Loving your videos, your voice is so clean and clear, it really helps me relax, plus hearing someone gush over some of my most beloved hack and slash games is so rare that I find myself getting excited to replay them all over again. you say that the devs had no restrictions when it came to the raunchy content, but to me the second game always felt like it was way less raunchy than the first one, especially when it comes to unlockable costumes and even cinematic direction. While this might not have came directly form Nintendo i cant help but think that the devs restricted themselves in fear of what Nintendo might think.
I wanna give a shoutout to the soundtrack of Bayonetta 2 and one of the composers Norihiko Hibino. The music throughout the game was mesmarising and fit the fights (especially bosses). Norihiko Hibino has a great music project called Gentle Love (they cover videogame songs in a jazzy and soulful style....check it out).

bayonetta 2 is my favorite hack n’ slash games of all time for not only saving bayonetta from being a one shot series but em the world building and the personal story is something special and makes bayonetta more than just some sexy lady with four guns like people usually think. seeing this video makes me even more hopeful for bayonetta 3 😭 glad to see you back suzi !! thank you for covering one of my favorite games of all time
I remember back in the day so many people were complaining that Bayonetta 2 was exclusive to the Wii U but they didn't realize this game wouldn't have even existed without Nintendo.
Gotta love "Tomorrow Is Mine", damn that's a tune! This game perfectly captures the magic, pace and awe of Bayo 1 whilst adding just enough new elements to cement itself as a definitive sequel, a true successor product. Not a lot of game sequels can pull this off, but Bayo 2 does it with style! I thoroughly enjoyed Bayo1 and 2 and am still waiting for Bayo 3. One note I wanted to touch on, that you briefly mentioned in the vid, was the bazookas - or rather LT. Col Killgore - that featured in the first game. I personally loved using these, ascending into the air off of the back of their blasts, dealing massive damage whilst clearing out hordes of enemies was great (and don't even get me started on THAT costume!). Of course I'm joking, every player has their weapon preferences and I have to admit I too mained the whip through the majority of my Bayo 1 playthrough because, after that early Alfhiem Portal, who wouldn't wanna fight in the air? Anyway, this vid was great: full of heart, honesty and humor, I hope you produce more vids like this and hopefully when Bayo 3 finally gats released Cutie S will be hot on it's trail.
The gameplay of Bayonetta 1 was rarely actually difficult to me. I've struggled more with Ninja Gaiden 1 + 2. So, I saw the Umbran Climax more as a visually appealing upgrade to your moves. The chaos is just so fun.

Her design in this game is perfection.
One thing i really love about the story is, this said with minor spoiler warnings, the cheesy motivational final lines are belted out by baldur, it gives it more weight when the end truly happens, and just feels more fitting for the character to me.
Its been 5 years since the reveal and we still haven't gotten SMTV or Bayo3
At least we know SMTV is coming out this year (as long as it doesn't get delayed).
It's been 5 years ... shit.
No it hasn’t, the reveal for Bayo was at the game awards at the end if 2017
@@donkeypong1847 To avoid confusion, that means it’s been less than 3.5 years so far.
That means they're almost done
What a wonderful way to unwind from a hectic day of grocery shopping 😄
Nice.
Don’t tell me you forgot the caviar
@@mrthanos8140 there's no Christmas without Caviar
Just like Bayonetta you return with style, fashion, grace and genius.
WE ARE READY WITH POPCORN. SHE’S BACKKKK
Suzi knew she wanted to do this video as soon as the thumbnail was made
I’m so glad you’re talking about this game! This game was a huge reason why I got the Wii U when it came out! And this game did NOT disappoint! Fucking amazing!
And next year, your review on Bayonetta 3 might come.
40 mins of quality
Honestly all her videos are excellent quality.
Bro this channel is growing so fast I'm actually happy that it's getting the recognition it deserves
So that's why TBGS took 3 months to release the Ninja Gaiden 3 video, he was busy playing Bayo 2 with you.
It's wonderful watching these videos Sphere Hunter.
Especially now that Bayonetta 3's latest trailer has dropped and the internet is on 🔥 again for this magnificent Queen and Platinum's usual masterful work.
13:01 I love how in the first game Rodin was like "I'm not putting chainsaws on your arms" and then second game comes around I love that its hilarious
As mutch as I would want a dmc x bayo crossover, I don't think we could handle the condensed fabulousness.
"I'm Jeanne, and this is my hetero-lifemate Bayonetta."
They way she said Madama Butterfly!! My heart.😍🥰😍
5 months after, Bayonetta 3 has final come to light once more, with so much power in the trailer
And on the 1232nd day, Suzi blessed us with a Bayo 2 video to help ease the pain. 😭

Fun fact: there are quite a lot of easter eggs in the two games that kinda solidify this theory.
When we needed her the most, she returned! Welcome back and hope all is well!
What I mean is compared to the second game, they're just not as interesting as some of the crazy stuff you'd find in the sequel.
@@TheSphereHunter I totally respect your opinion, and I mostly agree: the second game has crazier and more interesting weapons, which I switched more often.
But I LOVED handling rocket launchers as tonfas and pelting enemies with explosives.
@@TheSphereHunter The reason why Sega was making less games at the time is because they mostly cared about Pachinko Machines than less Popular games.
Simply one of the greatest character action games ever created and I eagerly await the 3rd installment :-)
YAY! New Suzi video! :D
I love hearing you talk about games you love, it's so inspiring!
Bayonetta being a "Nintendo character" is one of the most bizzare twists of fate a I love it.
Here's hoping Bayo 3 news is on the horizon soon
BAYO 3 WAS ANNOUNCED YALL
just making a lil note here cause i love watching you talk about stuff you're passionate about and you're one of the best examples of what I'm trying to build my channel up to be
That Bayo-Suzi art is amazing!
In another alternate world where Atlas got the rights to use Bayonetta in SMT Nocturne Remastered with it saying "Featuring Bayonetta from the Bayonetta Series"
A second in and it's already a classic
30:48 thank you for referencing my favorite bayonetta post
BAYONETTA 2 LETS GOOOOO
I saw Suzie dressed as Bayo on Instagram and naturally, I got excited. Partially because I was excited for her to talk about this game.
...but more because she had done Bayonetta cosplay. 🥵♥️
30:30
I have nothing more to say.
This is accurate
the effort & quality of your retrospectives are elite. always so freaking good.
I’m still bummed out that I can’t find this rendition of Moon River on iTunes.
25:25 shoutout to GamingBrit being unmentioned on there with his D rank
When you said "Goth Gamer" my brain immediately filled in "Nation" at the end.
Women in DMC: DANTE, NERO, PLZ HELP ME!!! ZZZZZZZ
Women in Bayonetta: We went to Heaven, Hell, flew outside of the Solar System, killed our LITERAL GODS with Big Bang attacks, time travelled a couple of times, saved multiple realities/universes, and still managed to buy the caviar on time for the Christmas party.
It's like that in the first game too 😅
Jeanne has Madama Styx and Rosa has Madama Khepri.
It's a shame that Khepri didn't have a full body model bc of time restraints when the game was being developed so she's just in hell, sending us punches and kicks 😭😭😭
@@lepidlover0557 I replayed Bayonetta this past week and I noticed that.
Which big band / easy listening hit would you enjoy hearing a badass cover of in Bayonetta 3?
It's gotta be Blue Moon, right?
Dancing in the Moonlight
When I first played this game, I played it a lot like your friend, and while I didn't have a particular problem with it, I can understand how people can see things like Umbran Climax as op. I would say I overall had a more enjoyable experience with this game than the first. And yeah, Moon River slaps so hard. Great video as always Suzi! 😊
Came back to this video after the Bayo 3 debacle. Lol
Glad I never cancelled my preorder. Taylor is a joke.
I was just thinking the same thing, after all these years she had a chance to continue to make the character SHE SAW AS HER OWN. And to see how it all went down is crazy. I love this series though and am hyped it didn’t get derailed and it’s coming in just 4 short days!
Plus she's like a TERF and stuff so 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
bayonette, one of the few modern games i own twice
“This one, this one right here. This one’s special.” -Rodin
Platinum games is one of my favorite 3rd party devs mostly because of Bayonetta. But you should also check out Vanquish! it's so cheesy and cool
Seeing her full spread eagle at the beginning made my day.
Just beat it and tommorow is mine is a certified bop
The ability in which the demon changes bayo into a kid, god hand also had something similar in one of the bosses but you turn into a dog
Just saying hello before a million views.

Well, hope the vacation isn't too cold. I heard in some areas people are grasping for air when they meet the local villagers
Loving your videos, your voice is so clean and clear, it really helps me relax, plus hearing someone gush over some of my most beloved hack and slash games is so rare that I find myself getting excited to replay them all over again. (Despite having just replayed both Bayonetta games 3 days ago) Keep up the wonderful content!
SH videos are so refreshing, a games channel that actually talks about games!
Most game channels talk about games. What are you on about?
Baernhelm dude I’ve been following games channels for a long time and finding decent in delft commentary and insight plus genuine passion is rare in games journalism.
@@stevendee6800 Okay, but TSH isn't a games journalist... She's like any other games channel, but also makes good content
It's one thing to say "a games channel with good content," it a totally different and hilariously wrong thing to say, "a games channel that actually talks about games!"

Baernhelm mate get out the house more you’re taking this way too seriously
@@stevendee6800 Pretty dismissive reply of yours mate. Cheers
suzi posts, we rejoice. these games are too hard for me, but what a world they create. the soundtracks, fashion, sound design, the overtop energy. such a delight
We missed you! A long awaited and so glad its with this game
There is a special treat on that "on rails" flying level with the fighter jet when wearing the starfox costume.
you say that the devs had no restrictions when it came to the raunchy content, but to me the second game always felt like it was way less raunchy than the first one, especially when it comes to unlockable costumes and even cinematic direction. While this might not have came directly form Nintendo i cant help but think that the devs restricted themselves in fear of what Nintendo might think.
Damn I loved when you charged the "r" when reading the weapons names, I must have listened to it a thousand times
I just started Bayo 2 and honestly i love this shit so much. big up on the channel btw, i missed all video games for like 2 decades (i literally just finished RE4 last week, got it on the switch and it's all new to me) and this channel has become my goto for finding out what the cool shit is
bayonetta 2 is my favorite hack n’ slash games of all time for not only saving bayonetta from being a one shot series but em the world building and the personal story is something special and makes bayonetta more than just some sexy lady with four guns like people usually think. seeing this video makes me even more hopeful for bayonetta 3 😭
glad to see you back suzi !! thank you for covering one of my favorite games of all time
I love all your videos and the passion the flows into each of them. Please keep up the good work!!
I remember back in the day so many people were complaining that Bayonetta 2 was exclusive to the Wii U but they didn't realize this game wouldn't have even existed without Nintendo.
Looks like we won't have to wait any longer. =P
Rocket launchers were OP in the first Bayonetta just needed to know how to use them. I paired them the sword and was able to devastate enemies.
Suzi your reviews are amazing, it's always a joy seeing a New video on my subscription feed! Keep the amazing work, I could listen to you for hours.
Short haired bayo really makes me feel certain kinda ways
The gameplay of Bayonetta 1 was rarely actually difficult to me. I've struggled more with Ninja Gaiden 1 + 2. So, I saw the Umbran Climax more as a visually appealing upgrade to your moves. The chaos is just so fun.
